Chapter 649: Her Worries
Squelch!
A sword made of nothing but dark matter stabbed through and pierced the body; blood dripped from the wound, and a trail of blood escaped Noah's lips while his eyes widened in shock.
"Is that what you thought was going to happen?" Wei Bing's eyes turned livid as she regained her former grin. "I would say whatever bullshit you concoct and agree with you."
Gu Chen's eyes widened in shock when he saw what his wife had done. She pulled the blade out of Noah's body and pushed him back, causing the blood to spill on the ground.
"You will make a good fertilizer for the array." She looked down on Noah's lifeless body lying on the ground coldly.
'This can't be my Wei Bing. She would never do something like this.' Gu Chen's eyes moistened, his vision blurred, and it shook. The woman before him no longer represented the wife he once loved and adored.
"Now, it's your turn." Looking away from Noah's lifeless body, she turned her attention towards Xin Yan. "You will join him soon."
Gu Chen finally could not take it anymore; his body charged forward on its own. A long silver spear appeared in his hand, a snake-like phantom coiled around his chest, through his charge.
"Snake Spear technique: Seventh form." The snake divided into two entities.
They slithered on his arm before coiling themselves around the spear he held in his arm.
The aura of a core formation realm cultivator was enough to stumble someone like Wei Bing, who was merely in the foundation establishment realm, despite how close she was to breaking through the next great realm.
Yet, Gu Chen, who was now seething in rage and boiling in despair on the inside, used his full power and even used the strongest skill in his arsenal.
"Twin Fang Strike!"
At the moment, Wei Bing was not the woman he once loved, but she was someone who was possessed by a demonic cultivator, a fiend who dared to disrupt the rest of his deceased wife.
"DIE!" Gu Chen put in all of his strength behind that strike. The two snakes reached the tip of the blade of the spear.
Woosh!
What seemed like arm-long snakes rapidly grew to the size of a small building.
Wei Bing looked at the attack, but her eyes moved past the two huge mouths coming at her and glanced at the fuming Gu Chen with a soft, relieved smile.
A hint of sadness and self-blame flashed through her body before she was consumed by the attack whole and devoured completely.
Even then, the attack did not stop—
It continued on and collided against the hill of bodies behind the woman.
ROAR!
BOOM!
Followed by the howling of the wind, a huge explosion erupted in the area. A pillar of fire soared through the air, crashing against the invisible ceiling!
Woosh!
Under his attack, the whole room shook, snapping Gu Chen out of his daze.
Before he could even comprehend what was happening, cracks started to appear on the reality itself—
Everything started to fall apart; it started with the area around where Gu Chen stopped, and then it crumbled out.
The shards turned into flapping butterflies of reality and swirled around the area. They were in the hundreds of thousands in count.
Since Wei Bing had spoken last words, only two seconds had passed despite how long the time seemed to have stretched through their interaction.
A strangely sounding Xin Yan echoed from somewhere through the mass of butterflies that started to fade, "I have already joined him. You should be worried about yourself first."
Once the butterflies were gone, Gu Chen looked around at the source of the sound in shock.
It was not because Xin Yan spoke that he was shocked.
It was from where she was speaking that startled him.
She was standing right beside him, and what's even more shocking was that the spear in his hand was gone.
He looked around, and as if time seemed to have turned back, his body shook when he saw a familiar figure standing in the front.
Wei Bing felt her body shuddering. 'What?'
She looked around frenetically; she clearly recalled that she had been killed by her husband's attack. She did not feel any pain, but she felt the stillness of death.
So—
"How?" Words croaked out of her throat; she lowered her head and saw a body still lying at her feet—
There he was, the unknown cultivator she had killed before.
Then she saw it, the body turning into butterflies as well. These butterflies rushed straight towards her face, and she moved, but they were faster.
Surprisingly, all they did was brush past her face and fly past her. Wei Bing turned around and saw them gathering in one place, taking the shape of a man.
The butterflies turned into Noah, standing before him, unharmed.
"What did you do?" Seeing Noah appearing before him, she charged at him with a loud roar.
"Do you seriously want to spend your last moments like this? Do you want his last memory of you to be filled with hatred and deceit?" Noah tilted his head, dodging the sword strike with ease.
Instead of attacking back, he pushed her back lightly. Staggering backward, Wei Bing stopped and glared at Noah with hatred.
"Look at him; you owe him a clear answer before you die."
Wei Bing bit her lips to snap out of her daze. She tried her best not to look towards her husband; her eyes wandered towards him on their own. Seeing his still confused yet haggard state, she felt her heart screaming at her.
Seeing her reluctance, Noah said something that made the woman look at him in shock, "You don't need to hold back anymore. The transmitting array has been destroyed; no one can hear whatever is happening here anymore."
"You can say anything you want without holding back." Noah looked her in the eye and nodded seriously while pointing at the cracked floor behind her.
"What are you talking about?" Wei Bing looked at Noah with hesitation and panic. She tried to mask her shock with confusion but failed miserably.
What do you think?
