Chapter 14 - Visitors from the Forestry Bureau
Chapter 14: Visitors from the Forestry Bureau
The next day.
The sun rose. Lin Tian opened his eyes and woke up, stretching lazily before getting ready to put on his shoes and get out of bed.
Sitting up, Lin Tian’s feet fumbled under the bed to find his slippers. But suddenly, he stepped on a soft, fluffy blanket. The blanket was still warm. And it rose and fell with breathing.
Lin Tian looked down. Only to see what’s under his feet wasn’t a blanket at all. It was clearly the Panda mom.
The Panda mom, unbeknownst to him, had dragged its blanket under Lin Tian’s bed.
At this moment, it was sprawled out, sleeping soundly by his bedside. Even after being stepped on by Lin Tian, it doesn’t seem to mind. It opened its eyes and saw Lin Tian.
It merely let out a soft whimper, scratched its butt, and then went back to sleep.
Lin Tian, however, helplessly held his forehead. With the panda blocking the side of the bed, he had no place to step down. He could only get out of bed from the other end, at the foot of the bed.
…
After getting up, Lin Tian first carefully checked on the panda cubs. At this moment, the two cubs were being cradled in the Panda mom’s paws, sleeping soundly.
The breathing and body temperature of both cubs were normal. They were very healthy.
Seeing this, Lin Tian felt relieved. In fact, newborn panda cubs, because they lacked fur for protection, were very fragile. Even a small issue could lead to their death.
So, they needed to be cared for very carefully.
…
After confirming that the two cubs were fine, Lin Tian felt at ease, and began preparing his own breakfast. Since he had just moved in, there wasn’t much food stored in the house.
Only two bags of noodles he brought and a few pounds of wild mushrooms and fruits sent by Wang Jian.
Lin Tian boiled water, chopped the mushrooms, and added the noodles. He simply cooked a bowl of vegetable noodle soup.
Then, holding the bowl of noodles, while squatting at the door of the house, slurped away.
While eating, Lin Tian pulled out his phone. He opened his livestream channel.
> “Here we go!”
> “It’s live!”
> “Came from Douyin.”
> “Waited all night, finally live!”
> “Where’s the panda? I want to see the panda!!”
> “Host, did you really pick up two cubs and bring them home yesterday? Is that true?”
> “Bilibili sightseeing group, here to check it out!!”
…
As soon as the stream began, Lin Tian’s phone lagged for a moment. Then he noticed a flood of comments pouring in. The number of online viewers were also skyrocketing, jumping by the second.
Starting with a few dozen people online, it surged by hundreds and hundreds.
In less than half a minute, the number of online viewers reached over a thousand!! And this was just the start of the stream! This meant these thousand-plus people were waiting for the stream to start!
Even if not, they had turned on notifications for the stream!
“Wow, why are there so many people?” Lin Tian was stunned to see so many people joining right at the start. Then he checked the follower count.
“Ones, tens… hundreds… thousands… ten thousands … Huh??? 50,000!!”
His livestream channel’s follower count had actually reached 50,000! This growth in followers had come way too fast. When he ended the stream yesterday, he clearly had just over 20,000 followers. Where did these extra 30,000 come from?
Lin Tian was puzzled. Then, from the comments, he picked up a clue. Many fans said they came from Douyin and Bilibili.
Did someone edit clips of his livestream and bring him traffic? Lin Tian pauses for a moment, then pulled out his phone to search for videos related to his livestream.
Soon, more than a dozen videos popped up. The most popular one was a video edited by an uploader named Yibao, with hundreds of thousands of likes. The video was indeed content from his livestream yesterday.
But it was a condensed version. He took a look. The editing was pretty good, featuring scenes of him comforting the Panda mom during its difficult labor. Paired with warm background music, it gave off a harmonious vibe of man and nature.
Lin Tian casually liked the video and didn’t close it. As for someone reposting his livestream content, he didn’t mind. He hadn’t put much effort into managing his livestream, so he naturally wouldn’t be bothered to pursue things like portrait rights.
He also had no plans to make money off from editing videos. Besides, most uploaders, wary of legal issues, would credit the source of the footage. This indirectly brought him a lot of viewers.
The surge in followers last night came from this. So, he wouldn’t stop others from editing his videos. As long as they weren’t deliberately misrepresenting or slandering him, he wouldn’t care.
“Good morning, everyone. Welcome to the new friends. This is the Sichuan Province Nature Reserve. If you like watching natural scenery, feel free to follow.”
Lin Tian briefly greeted the livestream audience.
The comments respond quickly.
> “Brother Tian, morning!”
> “We’re here to see the panda cubs.”
> “Where’s the panda?”
> “Show us quick!”
> “Did you really find a wild panda?”
> “I heard the panda was lured back home by the host?”
> “It wasn’t lured, okay? It followed him wilLinly.”
> “Exactly, where are these people who don’t know the truth, stirring up drama?”
…
The comments soon flooded in. A huge wave of comments all wanted to see the panda.
Many people followed the stream yesterday from start to finish. They watched the two cubs being born and were concerned about their health.
So, Lin Tian didn’t deny their request.
“Don’t worry, the Panda mom and her cubs are sleeping inside, safe and sound. I’ll take you to see them.”
After finishing his noodles, Lin Tian hanged the phone around his neck, preparing to take the livestream audience back inside to check on the Panda mom and her cubs.
However, just as he stood up, at that moment, there was a sudden knock at the courtyard gate: “Lin Tian, are you inside? We’re from the Forestry Bureau.”
What do you think?
