Chapter 196: Ch 196 : The Death of Bluenote
Chapter 196 - Ch 196 : The Death of Bluenote
Somewhere on Tenrou Island.
Gray staggered forward.
Having just battled Ultear, he had emerged victorious, but the cost of using Blood-Made Ice had pushed his body to its absolute limit.
Even so, Gray felt no regret for his decision.
If given another chance, he would still choose to turn his own blood into ice, even at the risk of excessive blood loss, to defeat Ultear.
It wasn't about right or wrong—it was simply the resolve within his heart.
"Damn... my vision is starting to blur."
Gray leaned against a tree, the aftereffects of his severe blood loss finally catching up to him.
His sight became hazy, and his limbs lost strength.
Eventually, he could no longer support his own weight and began to collapse.
(Is this the end...?) The thought flashed through his mind.
Just as he was about to fall, a hand suddenly reached out and caught him.
A familiar voice spoke with concern.
"You alright, Gray?"
Gray struggled to open his eyes and saw Noel looking at him with worry.
A wave of relief washed over him as he let out a self-mocking chuckle and replied, "Noel, huh... I really do always end up needing someone to save me."
"In that regard, we're all the same," Noel said with a smile.
Gray lifted his head and saw Natsu standing not far away, carrying Makarov on his back, with Lucy and Wendy by his side.
Noticing Gray's gaze, Natsu smiled and said softly, "Me too."
Gray smiled silently without responding.
Noel spoke gently, "I'm really glad you're okay. We've been worried about you. Many of our comrades on the island have already lost the ability to fight, but thankfully, there haven't been any reports of casualties yet. Right now, the most important thing is to regroup with our comrades. Let's go together."
"Yeah," Gray nodded.
Having reached his physical limit, he no longer had the strength to ask for more details.
...............
Not far from Fairy Tail's camp, a lone figure was making his way toward it.
His hair was an unnatural shade of white, falling straight down, with only the tips on the right side tinged in a faint purple hue.
His strikingly handsome face was adorned with a pair of violet eyes, and his slender frame gave off the impression of fragility.
From any perspective, he appeared like a sickly noble.
Yet, this very person stood at the highest seat among the Seven Thrones of the Demon God's Soul and had utterly defeated Erza with overwhelming power—the First Throne, Lance Crest.
"There are many presences over there... and none of them are familiar," Lance murmured to himself, his violet eyes devoid of emotion as he gazed in a particular direction.
Then, in a soft whisper, he continued, "Master's orders were to crush everyone on this island... so—"
Lance lifted his leg slightly and gently stepped onto the ground.
Boom!
An indescribable surge of terrifying magic erupted like a torrential flood, pouring into the earth in an instant.
The ground shattered violently—starting from Lance's position and extending for thousands of meters, the entire terrain was completely upturned.
Countless fissures spread across the land like a web, and everything within the range of the attack—trees, creatures, all—was reduced to dust.
What remained was a barren path, shrouded in thick smoke, devoid of anything.
"Hmm?"
Lance let out a soft sound of surprise.
He had sensed that someone had actually blocked his attack.
Even though this was merely a casual strike from him, the fact that it had been stopped meant that whoever did it was no ordinary person.
Realizing this, Lance's usually indifferent expression finally showed a slight change.
A trace of curiosity flickered across his face.
As the smoke gradually cleared, two tall figures emerged in Lance's vision.
One was a middle-aged man with reddish-brown hair, clad in a black robe.
The other was a dark-haired man with a cold and grim expression.
Lance's eyebrows arched slightly, and a faint smile appeared at the corner of his lips.
He spoke in a soft, almost playful tone:
"So, it was you two who blocked my attack?"
............
Gildarts and Bluenote stared at the white-haired boy who had just questioned them, beads of cold sweat forming on their foreheads.
A moment ago, when they had been fully focused on their duel, they had suddenly sensed a terrifying attack approaching from the distance.
The sheer destructive force of it was enough to annihilate anyone.
In that instant, both men had abandoned their confrontation without hesitation, unleashing their full magical power to defend against the oncoming attack.
Even now, the lingering pressure of that immense power still left them shaken.
"Who on earth is this guy?" Gildarts muttered to himself, watching Lance walk toward them.
Bluenote, however, remained silent.
He had no interest in knowing who this white-haired boy was—all he knew was that this person had attacked him, and that alone was reason enough.
His expression turned cold as he raised his hand, instantly activating his gravity magic.
The ground beneath Lance collapsed under an immense gravitational force.
But then, something eerie happened.
Despite being subjected to Bluenote's gravity magic, Lance remained standing—completely unaffected.
His posture did not waver in the slightest, as if the gravity magic had done nothing to him at all.
"A magic that controls gravity?" Lance spoke, a slight note of curiosity in his voice.
Yet, his calm and indifferent expression only deepened the sense of mockery that Bluenote felt.
"You actually managed to withstand my magic... but so what? Fall into the abyss—[Super Gravity Sphere]!"
Bluenote extended both hands, gathering all of his magical power in an instant.
Infinite gravity condensed into a single point, creating a gravitational collapse—a black hole. It radiated an overwhelming gravitational force, as if it would swallow everything in its path.
Lance tilted his head slightly.
Even when faced with Bluenote's [Super Gravity Sphere], he remained completely unaffected.
The terrifying suction force seemed to vanish the moment it approached him.
A faint smirk appeared on Lance's lips as he slowly extended his palm and spoke softly, "Gravity, huh? This magic is quite interesting... but unfortunately for you, the one you're facing is me."
The moment his words fell, Bluenote's expression twisted in shock.
He suddenly realized that his black hole—his ultimate gravity spell—was no longer under his control.
In other words, the authority over his own magic had been stripped away.
The black hole, now free from Bluenote's command, rapidly moved toward Lance, eventually settling in his outstretched palm.
An immense surge of magical energy continuously poured into the black hole.
As Lance fed it his own power, the originally fist-sized black hole expanded at an alarming rate.
Bluenote watched in utter disbelief as the black hole grew to the size of a human—yet, paradoxically, its gravitational pull gradually weakened until it eventually disappeared entirely.
"I've thought of something interesting," Lance said casually.
"Hey, have you ever been hit by your own magic?"
But he didn't wait for Bluenote's answer before continuing, "It's a rare experience—one you should cherish. After all, this will probably be your only chance."
The massive black hole was casually tossed from Lance's hand, drifting toward Bluenote at an almost leisurely pace.
Yet, to Bluenote's horror, he found himself unable to move.
In the blink of an eye, the black hole erupted with an overwhelming gravitational force, one so powerful that resistance was impossible.
Bluenote didn't even have time to scream.
All he could do was watch, helplessly, as the black hole drew closer—before it devoured him completely in a single instant.
