Chapter 195: Ch 195 : Mavis
Chapter 195 - Ch 195 : Mavis
Blown away by Gildarts' strike, Bluenote staggered back only a short distance before landing steadily on the ground.
He lifted his head and looked at the man standing before Cana, coldly staring at him.
Muttering to himself, he said, "So this guy is... Gildarts?"
"Father..." Cana murmured softly, almost inaudibly, as she gazed at Gildarts standing in front of her.
Gildarts, his eyes cold and sharp, looked at Bluenote in the distance.
Then, without turning his head, he called out to Freed and Bickslow, who had just managed to stand up.
"Freed, Bickslow, take care of Gajeel and Levy over there. In the upcoming battle, I need you to protect everyone."
"Yes, leave it to us," Freed and Bickslow responded without hesitation.
They then turned to Pantherlily, who had arrived with Gildarts, and together they lifted the unconscious Levy and Gajeel onto their backs, quickly heading toward the camp.
They didn't attempt to stay and help Gildarts—because they knew that in a battle of this level, their presence would only be a burden.
Instead, their efforts would be better spent protecting their injured and unconscious guildmates from the devastating aftermath of the battle that was about to unfold.
Catching a glimpse of their actions from the corner of his eye, Gildarts gave a barely perceptible nod.
Without turning around, he then spoke to Cana, "Cana, you should leave too. Go and stay with Freed and the others."
Cana hesitated for a moment, then, as if making up her mind, she followed Gildarts' instructions and ran toward the camp.
Now that he no longer had any worries, Gildarts finally focused all of his attention on Bluenote, who stood in front of him.
A tangible, white magical aura surged around him, forming a stark contrast to the dense black magic radiating from Bluenote.
The tension between them thickened, filling the air with a suffocating pressure.
Finally, Gildarts moved.
Carrying an immense amount of magical power, he charged straight toward Bluenote.
Bluenote reacted at the same time, raising his hand and casting his magic.
The ground beneath Gildarts instantly cracked open and flipped over completely.
However, Gildarts simply placed his hand on the upturned ground, and as if neatly sliced apart, the terrain shattered into countless square-shaped stone blocks.
Using the momentum, Gildarts propelled himself from the higher ground, accelerating straight toward Bluenote.
Bluenote remained unfazed.
He leaped into the air, and both of them raised their fists simultaneously, clashing head-on.
An explosion of magic erupted between them, transforming into a powerful shockwave that scattered the shattered rock fragments in all directions.
"Amazing... The magic power from both sides is overwhelming," Freed murmured to himself as he shielded against the gust of wind surging toward the camp.
Bickslow and Pantherlily nodded in agreement, their expressions filled with awe.
After their initial clash, Gildarts and Bluenote separated once again.
Bluenote stared at Gildarts in disbelief, murmuring, "I'm actually... being held back? This guy...!"
"This was an important exam..." Gildarts spoke softly, his deep voice laced with barely contained fury.
"The kids carried emotions far more complex than adults could imagine. They made up their minds, taking a determined step toward their future... and you, you bastard, ruined it all!!"
.................
Lia was walking through Tenrou Island.
She wasn't heading toward any particular destination, nor was she using any magic.
Instead, she moved leisurely, a faint smile on her lips, strolling as if she had all the time in the world.
Yet, despite the drizzle falling around her, not a single drop of rain touched her, as if she and the rain existed in two separate worlds.
Suddenly, Lia halted her steps, still smiling as she gazed in a certain direction.
In a gentle voice, she said, "Hmm, you've been watching for quite a while. Aren't you going to come out?"
"As expected, I can't hide from you." A serene voice echoed from the dense forest.
Moments later, a girl slowly emerged.
She was an extraordinary sight—her appearance bore a resemblance to Noel, yet her colors were a softer shade of blonde.
Her long, wavy hair cascaded down her back, and a pair of white feathered wings adorned the sides of her ears.
Her bright green eyes shimmered with intelligence, and she wore a slightly oversized white cloak.
From every angle, she appeared to be an adorable young girl.
However, the sheer magical power radiating from her was enough to make any mage tremble in awe and fear.
The curve of Lia's lips gradually became perfect, her elegant and gentle tone carrying a hint of amusement.
"The first Guild Master of Fairy Tail—Mavis Vermillion?"
"Just call me Mavis," Mavis responded with a slight bow, her voice soft.
"This should be our first meeting, shouldn't it, Lord of Darkness?"
"You know quite a lot." Even when her identity was exposed, Lia's expression remained unchanged, her tone filled with meaning.
"Then, you should know why I'm here, right?"
"Yes." Mavis nodded, a faint wry smile appearing on her face.
"Are you really not willing to reconsider?"
"Do you think that's possible?"
"I know it isn't, but I still had to try." Mavis's expression returned to calmness.
"No matter whether this succeeds or fails, this world will suffer an immense wound. That's why I cannot simply stand by and do nothing."
Lia didn't respond immediately.
Instead, she lifted her gaze to the sky.
The dark clouds overhead concealed even the faintest glimmer of light.
She slowly stretched out her hand toward the sky, as if trying to grasp something unseen, murmuring, "This world has long since rotted. Everything is predetermined, everything is manipulated. A world like this has no right to exist. Destruction is merely the beginning of creation. As long as I can reshape this world into the ideal one, temporary pain is nothing at all."
"Why are you so certain that the world you create will be perfect?" Mavis asked.
Lia smiled faintly. "Then, why are you so certain that this world is better than the one I wish to create?"
"...Using a question with a question is against the rules!" Mavis's face turned red from being at a loss for words.
After struggling for a long time, she could only mutter this in a low voice.
"Heh." Lia let out a soft chuckle, but her laughter gradually faded into calmness.
She then continued, "Living numbly, merely existing—do you think there is anything worse than that? No matter how painful the wounds, there will come a day when they are forgotten. If that is the price to pay for a new possibility, then in my eyes, it is undoubtedly the best choice."
Mavis fell silent. In the end, she let out a soft sigh.
"Forget it. After all, I'm just a ghost now and can't directly interfere with you. Moreover, there is still the existence of the Lord of Light. I only hope that you remember... Sometimes, good intentions don't necessarily lead to good results."
Without a sound, Mavis had already disappeared once again.
The curve of Lia's lips remained unchanged.
"The word 'not necessarily' itself implies uncertainty. If there's a chance of a bad outcome, then there's also a chance of a good one. A fifty percent probability is already enough for me to take action—whether it's for this world or for Nord-niisama... I will never give up. Heh."
Lia's indifferent laughter rang out clearly amidst the drizzling rain.
