Chapter 45: False Immortal
Chapter 45: False Immortal
’Well, it’s already good enough that he even allows my subordinates to observe him... if he doesn’t want that, then I doubt he would show himself even if someone from the six of us were to try looking for him on the second floor’ the cold beauty thought to herself before she stood up from her seat, moving towards the nearby bed seemingly way too big for just her to sleep on, plopping down there with her face falling flat on the soft mattress.
’Still, if he allows that, why won’t he even say something or anything at all!?’ the usually cold beauty’s expression collapse into one filled with frustration as her feet starts flailing around, an act that would make anyone who knows her wonder whether this is truly that ruthless and cold witch at all.
----------
While the cold beauty is struggling to control the frustration welling from deep inside her, on the other hand, the five who are already out of the room are currently talking among themselves, mostly the four older, more knowledgeable ones teaching the youngest among them things that they can’t speak about in front of their mistress.
"So you’re saying that there’s something between that target from the second floor and the mistress?" with eyes glowing in entertained curiosity as she heard of this for the first time, the youngest among the five, Lyra, asked once again, her voice slightly louder than the volume she expected it to come out, making the other four move quickly to cover her mouth.
"Shhh!!! We’re still close the Mistress’ room, what the hell are we supposed to do if she were to hear about this!?" still concerned that anyone heard of Lyra’s words, the leader of the group said with a hint of nagging in her tone, prompting the youngest to nod at her as they all let go of her mouth.
"But still, what the hell?? Why would the mistress even take interest in someone who took a decade to ascend to the second floor, he’s practically of the same generation of ascender as the Mistress, but his achievement is extremely lacking in comparison!"
While they walk down the hallway leading to the outside of the Palace of Eternity, Lyra asks in confusion, causing the other four to shake their head as one among them starts explaining, asking about something that might just lead this young lady to understand everything by herself.
"Lyra, you already said it yourself, he’s the same generation of ascender as the Mistress, now think about it, other than the leaders of the five other great legia, who else is worth so much that the Mistress would send our group, who only follows orders directly from her, to look for and observe this person?"
The leader of the group asked, causing the cogs on the young lady’s head to start turning, piecing together all the information available to her as she recalls everything about that young man that she knows so far.
’If he has some sort of involvement with the Mistress... and also, that terrifying regeneration... wait... don’t tell me...’ as she starts getting closer and closer to the real answer, her companions notice the shock in her face, allowing them to know that she already realized who that target is, the disbelief in her face only growing greater as the fact sinks in.
"Seven great heroes serve as forerunners who forged our path to each of the tower’s floors, each one of them holding a reputation as high as the heavens... that is a tale that everyone has heard of by now I assume" the leader said, pausing for a while before she starts once again.
"What makes them different from the ascenders who are about to follow their path in the future is that they faced the greatest challenge this tower has yet to offer, a first floor far different from what the aspiring ascenders now has to conquer, a land filled with nothing but despair, and things that will make anyone cower in absolute fear, well, we can pretty much confirm this to be true since even the Mistress herself told us that the first floor was vastly different from when before they conquered it, almost like it is heaven now, and back then, an absolute landscape of hell"
Looking at the other four eagerly listening to a legend among the ascenders that was passed down for over a decade now, the leader of the group, Hailey, smiles as she clears her throat, intending to continue the story once again.
"But the seven, possessing abilities and skills far greater than anyone else could imagine, used their combined strength to conquer this hell that doesn’t seem to welcome any human presence at all, each one of them being powerful enough for them to be granted titles that will be remembered by the latter ascenders who would benefit from their struggles on the first floor"
"Golden Sun is the strongest, with pride as high as the sun, yet still with heart as pure as gold, Hidden Shadow is the most passive, far lethargic than anyone, and yet still the one who cares the most, God Sword is the domineering one, cleaving every blockade from humanity’s path"
After reciting these words, the lady paused again, each title one that the leaders of the Six Great Legia held, making everyone among the five of them aware of who these people are even without mentioning their real name.
With this not being the end of this passage though, Hailey continues, another three of the six being mentioned in her next words.
"Astral Witch is the greatest, with cold, authoritative demeanor, yet the one who leads the most brilliant, Azure Reaper is the most feared, a brutal fighter on the battlefield, and yet an even greater friend away from it, Serene Heavens is the sanctuary, a light that shines through the darkness."
"And the seventh, the False Immortal, is the exalted, he who stood between the human and the tower’s terror, he who soaks in his own blood receiving every enemy attack in every battle he goes through."
What do you think?
