Chapter 1057: Revolution in Planning
The footage was 3 hours, 4 minutes and 32 seconds long. The heroes who were against the idea of starting a revolution and forming a new government slowly shifted their sides and wanted to join the new world order.
Of course, there were a few who were against it, and some of them stayed neutral. The heroes present in the conference room were the strongest heroes in the country and they held the power to influence the people.
Still, it wasn't as though the strongest hero of the country had the most fan following. There were a few heroes who were in the top 20 but had more following. Nonetheless, the female heroes had more following than the male heroes— for obvious reasons.
After watching the full video and understanding the points the three founders of the hero organization were trying to make, even Rudy felt like choosing the side of the hero organization was an obvious choice.
It was a simple logic; a farmer would know how to farm rather than a technician.
"So, why did you show me this?" Rudy asked Eric with a curious look on his face. He now knew the risk Eric was carrying by recording a plan of revolution.
If it were to leak, surely, the civil war was inevitable.
"I don't know…." Eric let out a weary sigh. "Of course, I didn't know what the meeting was about when I was invited. It has… become my habit to record every meeting. I just happened to do that, unbeknownst to what was going to happen next."
"Well, you have something that can turn this country into ashes..." Rudy muttered.
"Help me, Rudy..." Eric said with a serious look on his face. But it wasn't his face that made Rudy feel uneasy, rather... it was Eric's voice.
It was no surprise that Rudy was better than Eric and they always competed with each other on most things. Eric was better than Rudy in athletic and money managing skills. While Rudy was better at everything else.
However, that rivalry never turned them into enemies like one would expect. They always helped each other out whenever either of them needed help.
Rudy was powerful, and his powers were unparalleled. But Eric wasn't aware of that. To Eric, Rudy was just a regular highschool boy with no powers. And yet, he came to Rudy for help.
What could Rudy have done?
Eric wasn't looking for physical help or anything, he simply wanted to share his thoughts with his best friends and ask for his opinion. Eric was lost, and he needed someone to give him a little push to decide his future plans.
"The idea the three founders proposed is good and it could do a lot better if executed properly with no evil intentions— is what I want to say, but the apocalypse has ended. Sure, there are tens of billions of monsters roaming our planet, but one day… let's say in ten years, all the monsters will be exterminated.
Then what? What need would there be of the heroes and the heroes organization? They will become a thing of the past and after a few decades, people will forget about them as if they never existed.
History can attest that people only value the thing they need the most. Once they have got what they wanted, it's useless.
So tell me, what would they do next?" Rudy asked in a curious, yet with a serious look on his face.
"Someone asked that question, but the founders didn't reply. Many heroes had questions and doubts they wanted to be clarified before they chose their side, so the founder proposed another meeting where they would answer all the questions.
When and where hasn't been announced, but it could take up to a month. I already have a list of questions I want to ask them, and if you have any, let me know." Eric nodded as he looked at his list.
"Once the revolution is publicly announced, the government will start acting and a civil war will happen. The most to suffer will be innocent civilians and the soldiers who don't want to take part in the war.
Honestly, that's one thing that stopped me from agreeing with the idea of the three founders. I don't want innocent people to die. I don't want to kill the people I swore an oath to protect. There has to be a different option where neither of the sides has to suffer, where no blood has to be spilled."
Rudy took a moment to gather his thoughts and muttered, "Will that really work the way you want? Who will get to decide what will happen and why it happens? Let's say the revolution was declared and there was no war. Let's assume the government willingly gave up their authority to the hero organization.
The question is, who will make the rules and the laws? How will the new system work? What will happen to the constitution? And why would one think that the three founders are eligible to be the new leader of our nations?
What if someone from the heroes wants to run for the leader's seat? Will it still be a democracy or the nation would turn into a monarchy? What if the heroes and public aren't happy with a certain law made by the hero organization?
They said they will turn everyone in the nation into a hero. But they will never be like the first generation heroes. They won't have magical powers like them. They will remain a mundane human.
No matter how many years one trained in hand to hand combat, if someone brings a gun to a fight, they won't be able to do shit. The monsters are the same. A powerless hero can't save anyone, let alone save his own self."
Eric noted down all the doubts Rudy raised.
"There are way too many flaws in the new system proposed by the three founders," Rudy continued. "A better idea with flaws is no different from a shithole with no flaws. Nothing will change. It's not something that can be easily replaced.
If they want to make a new world order, they should first prove it to me. Unless I am fully convinced, they can't change anything…. Let it be the simplest thing, such as a name."
Rudy's Lord persona had kicked as he heard about the major changes in the world. Eric noticed something was different about Rudy, but he couldn't bring himself to ask him.
What do you think?
