As soon as he scanned the status, his eyes widened. Only one word came to Alden's mind.
Fking hell.
I directly jumped to the intermediate level.
Normally he would've taken at least one month or maybe even two months to reach this level.
But forming a second mana core directly increased his stats and helped him break through.
But something else had caught his eyes.
He had two separate mana pools, each containing 12,000 units—Light and Shadow.
Together, it made 24,000, though they couldn't be merged directly.
But he could convert one into the other by force—a painful process, but one he had mastered.
Alden's eyes widened. The number was nothing to scoff at.
That was a number which even someone in Expert Beginner Rank might not have. And here he was having that much just at Apprentice Rank.
After checking the mana pool, he moved on onto the next part.
Now for the best part.
The increase in stats and rank did excite him. But something else excited him even more.
His new spell and the upgraded effects of his supreme ability.
Let's first check my spells.
Because I don't think anything much about my supreme ability has changed.
Thinking such, Alden focused on his Mana Tome section as a new section popped up in front of him.
___
[Mana Tome]
[The Eclipse Codex]
[Description: One of the three Primordial Rank tomes in the world. Its cultivation method unlocks the user's latent potential by balancing light and shadow, gradually granting them mastery over the rare Eclipse Element.]
[Current Phase]—Moon Phase --> Twilight Phase
[Spells Unlocked – Shadow Step, Shadow Manipulation, Shadow Stealth, Light Manipulation (New), Basic Healing (New)]
__
Alden could only think one word. A grin tugged at his lips.
Jackpot
Healing magic was a treasure.
Only top-tier mages or blessed priests had access to it—and now he, an Apprentice, had one all thanks to his codex.
It was basic currently, but only because it was at a low mastery level.
Once his mastery increases, it will show its real worth.
He focused on the spell window as a new pop-up appeared showing details.
__

___
The increase in mastery level of his other spells showed Alden wasn't slacking.
He had been training diligently, and he has finally reached the third level of their mastery.
There were five levels of mastery. From Novice Rank to Legendary Rank.
And he was already halfway across the third level in two of his spells.
He could now form most shadow constructs within moments. And moreover, his Shadow Steps range had increased quite a bit.
Enough about old spells.
He then read information about his newly gained spells.
The description wasn't much different from his other spells.
What's a better way to know about a spell than using it?
Let's try it out, shall we?
He didn't get up from his bed. He just raised his hand, palm facing upwards.
He focused his mind. Circulated light mana from his heart towards his palm.
He wasn't trying to create something difficult. Just some easy stuff, as his mastery was still low.
He imagined a sphere of golden light floating above his palm.
Soon the mana abided by his will and started condensing above his hand.
After much effort a sphere of light appeared above his palm.
His eyes narrowed.
10% of his mana… for that? A pathetic, tennis ball-sized glow hovered above his palm.
Why is it so small?
But he understood. It was the result of his Novice Mastery.
Well, it would get better once I increase mastery.
Next he wanted to test his healing spell.
He channelled his shadow mana and willed his shadow to form a sharp dagger.
Soon a pitch-black coloured dagger of his own shadow appeared in his hands.
Without further waiting, he made a small cut on the index finger of his other hand.
Time to check the healing.
He already had all the details regarding how to use the spell in his mind.
He channelled his light mana towards his injury in a specific pattern.
The mana that reached the injury glowed in a bright golden colour.
Alden felt a slight tingling sensation spread near his injury.
Slowly but surely he felt his injury heal.
It took a whole minute for his injury to heal completely. In exchange, 15% of his light mana was consumed.
It's too inefficient to be used currently.
That was Alden's analysis.
The healing spell consumed too much mana, and its healing speed was also too slow.
I hope it gets better with higher mastery.
I really need to focus on my spells and abilities and master them properly.
Alden decided on his future plan.
He was going to train after reaching the academy. But this time he won't train to rank up.
No.
Instead, he was going to focus on increasing mastery of all of his abilities.
He had noticed this glaring issue a few days back.
He had too many means but no idea about how to utilise them at full efficiency.
So he was going to master that.
After testing his spells. He decided to check about his supreme ability.
