America Tycoon: The Wolf of Showbiz

Chapter 819 - 812 Martin's Mission

"Follow them, Old Cloth, follow them."

On the streets of Manhattan, Leonardo pressed against the passenger seat and said to Bruce who was driving, "Don't let them spot us, don't lose them!"

Martin pulled him back into the seat, saying, "Relax, Old Cloth is a pro."

Leonardo sat back but still leaned forward, peering through the windshield at the Mercedes ahead.

He had seen Gisele Bundchen and Justin Bieber getting into that car after they left the bar.

The Mercedes was clearly headed towards the Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

Leonardo somewhat settled down and asked, "Did you arrange your private jet?"

Martin nodded, "I've called Elizabeth, Jack will be ready to leave as soon as he arrives tomorrow."

Leonardo patted Martin on the arm, "Thanks for this time."

"I feel awkward with that," Martin punched Leonardo, "Did you ever hesitate when it was your turn to arrange things for me?"

Leonardo smiled and didn't say more.

Ahead, a Rolls Royce stopped at the entrance of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

Bruce pulled the car into a parking spot by the road.

Martin and Leonardo looked towards the hotel, Gisele Bundchen and Justin Bieber got out of the car one after another and entered the hotel together.

Leonardo's expression turned sour, muttering, "Why? Why..."

Martin didn't know why either. Could it be that blonde tattoos actually have a charm boost in the eyes of some women?

The Mercedes moved away from the entrance but didn't leave, instead, it parked by the roadside.

Leonardo's expression looked a bit better, still muttering, "Come out quickly! Come out, damn it!"

Half an hour passed, and Justin Bieber still hadn't come out of the hotel.

"I don't understand," Leonardo suddenly said, "Why such an asshole!"

Martin tried to comfort him, "Maybe they are just talking inside."

Leonardo knew his friend meant well, but shook his head, "Do you believe that?"

We booked a room in the hotel, entered the same room, only to drink water, chat, and play games, without doing anything inappropriate...

Martin interrupted Leonardo's wild thoughts, "Even if something did happen, it's Tom Brady who's getting cuckolded, not you, Leonardo DiCaprio!"

This made sense, but Leonardo couldn't accept it, "This has nothing to do with who I am, nor with Tom Brady. If Gisele was with someone normal, even you or Jack, I could accept it."

"Don't!" Martin quickly said, "I've never had thoughts about Gisele."

To be exact, the world's top supermodel didn't fit his aesthetic.

That wasn't what Leonardo meant, "What I can't accept is that Gisele is actually with someone broken like Justin..."

Martin understood Leonardo's feelings. Justin Bieber had not only shown off in front of him but had become a fellow conspirator.

The former was mockery, the latter a fatal blow.

Leonardo looked at the hotel entrance and fell silent.

Martin silently sighed, saying, "Let's go back first."

Leonardo glanced at his watch, "Let's wait another half hour."

Martin didn't speak any further, sitting with Leonardo as they continued to wait.

Time swiftly passed another half hour, Justin Bieber still hadn't come out of the hotel.

Leonardo clenched his fist and forcefully punched the seat, saying, "Old Cloth, let's go back."

Bruce started the car and left the place.

Martin said, "Jack can come over tomorrow, don't worry."

Leonardo said, "I know it's actually not much of my business, but I can't stand it!"

He closed his eyes, "I admit, Gisele is my true love!"

Martin said, "In the name of true love, let's show that bastard who wants to screw over your brother a lesson."

Leonardo asked, "Do you have any good ideas?"

Martin thought for a moment and said, "First, let someone check his specific situation. Once we have enough understanding and Jack arrives, we can discuss together."

Leonardo nodded, "Jack will be here tomorrow, I'll go with him to Brooklyn Studio to find you."

...

Monday morning, Long Island, New York.

Ryan Reynolds drove alone to the North Shore's Latin Town and entered a restaurant where one could enjoy morning tea.

At a table by the window sat the once-genius Hollywood producer and executive, Jon Berg.

Ryan Reynolds sat opposite him, accepted the red tea he passed, and said, "Last night at Club 54 I met Martin Davis, a very assertive and even domineering guy."

Remembering Blake Lively, who was so stunning that he fell for her at first sight, Ryan Reynolds added, "I don't like Martin Davis."

Jon Berg picked up his teacup and said, "No one likes him; he's a bastard."

Ryan Reynolds took a sip of his red tea. "Before you left Los Angeles, when we last met, you mentioned being forced out of Warner Bros. was all because of Martin Davis?"

Recalling the past and looking at Ryan Reynolds, Jon Berg asked, "Did you have an unpleasant encounter with him?"

Ryan Reynolds replied, "He caught a girl's vulnerability, and she came to me for help. As a gentleman, it was natural for me to step in, but I ended up getting taught a lesson by Martin and Leonardo."

He shrugged, "Together, I couldn't stand against the two of them."

Jon Berg didn't believe half of what he said. Being a genius didn't make him foolish. He stated, "Martin plus Leonardo, in the Hollywood circle, even the heads of the big six companies have to take notice."

The image of that woman drifted before Ryan Reynolds again; he raised his hand and looked at his palm, the scene from last night still pained his heart.

Martin Davis hadn't even looked him in the eye when he arrogantly pushed past him; if it wasn't for his hand steadying on a wine glass on the table, he would have surely fallen, making a complete fool of himself.

Ryan Reynolds asked, "Are you just going to watch Martin Davis keep rising?"

Jon Berg, sensing some implication in his words, simply added fuel to the fire, "What else can I do, I'm no longer the president at Warner Bros. Martin Davis is much more complex than you think; he played me majorly."

Curiosity was evident on Ryan Reynolds' face.

Jon Berg, half-truthfully, stated, "My predecessor at Warner Bros., Ellen Horn was close to Martin Davis, but I wasn't quite aware of that at first, which led me to take Martin Davis' private advice on many major film projects, including 'Pharaoh and the Gods,' 'Dark Places,' and 'Jack the Giant Slayer,' and so forth."

Similar rumors were something Ryan Reynolds had heard in Hollywood; Warner Bros.'s failed big projects seemed to have some link to Martin Davis.

"Not just me, but DC Films as well, also listened to Martin Davis' advice," said Jon Berg, glancing at Ryan Reynolds. "'Green Lantern' was greenlit under such circumstances."

Ryan Reynolds tensed; that film almost completely ruined his prospects in Hollywood: "Martin suggested 'Green Lantern'?"

Jon Berg continued with his half-truths, "Initially, Warner and DC's first choice for 'Green Lantern' was Martin Davis. In order to persuade him, not only did they offer a high salary but also invited Blake Lively, who was very close to him, to play the female lead. Later, Martin Davis turned down the role and dissuaded Blake Lively, and then recommended you."

Ryan Reynolds was skeptical, "Martin Davis recommended me?"

Jon Berg didn't expect him to believe entirely, "I didn't know you then; why would I have chosen you if no one had recommended you?"

Ryan Reynolds frowned, "I don't know Martin Davis."

This statement posed a dilemma for Jon Berg, who hadn't prepared much beforehand, making it difficult to find a suitable reason.

Fortunately, having been in Hollywood for a long time, he remembered some things, especially about Martin.

Jon Berg barely paused before saying, "Knowing there could be issues with the project, he still recommended you; obviously, his goal was to harm you."

He hinted, "Back in late 2004, Martin Davis met your ex-wife Scarlett Johansson, and they became quite close. You must have seen reports about this."

Ryan Reynolds recalled, "Scarlett mentioned they met on the set of the first season of 'Star Partners.'"

Jon Berg poured him more tea, "Your brief marriage with Scarlett Johansson ended pretty badly, didn't it?"

"Our professional ambitions were too strong," Ryan Reynolds uttered what even he didn't believe, "Being busy with work all the time, staying apart for long periods led our feelings to fade…"

Jon Berg said cryptically, "Women who have had dealings with Martin Davis often end up as long-term lovers, like Jolie and Aniston, who would come together as required… It's said Martin Davis really cares for these lovers, and those women always try to keep him happy."

Ryan Reynolds stated, "I asked Scarlett, and she said there was nothing of that sort with Martin."

Jon Berg couldn't help but laugh, "Do you believe that? Think about Pitt, Jolie, and Aniston, who all claimed to be just friends with Martin."

"Damn it!" Ryan Reynolds thought of Martin Davis' reputation with women, recalling Jolie, Aniston, Charlize Theron, and Taylor Swift, supposedly just good friends with Martin, and his expression changed.

Jon Berg murmured to himself, "There's always been a rumor in Hollywood, Martin Davis has a certain... predilection."

Ryan Reynolds' expression turned even grimmer, having heard that rumor too.

Martin Davis liked messing around with other men's wives or fiancées!

He had been married to Scarlett Johansson for a few years, and many had found their union inexplicable — was it perhaps... the master's task?

Ryan Reynolds wondered if his marriage had been sabotaged from the start!
