Chapter 128 128: Daily Life Of A Noble.

Leo waited for a week, and the school building was completed with the help of the people. The young man was their landlord, and the only noble in the town. The people were grateful for his guidance and even more so his generosity.

The people who did the work were paid. After a week, the school started operations and called Crawford to gather all the leaders of various fields, and the people who held some sway over the people. He was going to use these people to change the conditions.

Lily was sitting beside him with a small book laying on the table before her. The little girl heard the command, and after Crawford left, she asked, "Baba, what is the use of calling all of these people over?"

The young man smiled and replied, "Baby, it is a simple tactic to find out who is willing to help us, or who would cause trouble. Another reason that I am calling them here is because even when I am in a high position, I am still a single man. I cannot do all the work by myself. So having people to do things that they are the best at will help achieve a better result."

Lily nodded and asked, "What if these people grew stronger than us and started to defy us? How will we manage to ensure that they are doing their jobs properly?"

Leo smiled and said, "Similar to how you ask these people to do things for the people. You can ask the people to make sure that the things are working properly. If they feel someone is corrupt, allow them to seek you, file a complaint and then punish the corrupt lawyer when found guilty."

Lily asked one more question, "Then Baba, how will we find if the accused is guilty?"

Leo smiled and said, "Ask the people to bring forth evidence. Then based on their evidence, and debate, you decide if the person is guilty or not. However, for that you have to create a police force that will specifically investigate the situation and collect evidence…"

He told her about the functions of a law enforcement team, and what things were considered a crime. Lily learned all this and she nodded many times while Leo spoke. In the evening, they went into the dining parlor and had their dinner, before Snow said, "Winters are coming, we need to start stockpiling."

Leo nodded and Lily said, "Baba, I read in the books, many crops cannot survive in the winters and they wilt quickly so often there is a shortage of food and many people die."

The young man sighed and said, "That is indeed the through, but there are still three months left before the winters come, and I am sure we would be able to come up with some plans. Don't worry, this time one of the major goals is to prevent people from starving."

Lily nodded and said, "When the time comes, I would like to do something for the people as well."

Leo nodded and said, "You can help your mother deliver food packets to the people who cannot afford or procure their own meals, but before that, you should take a dozen of guards, roam around the town, learn from the elders about the things they do, and talk to them about life, how they overcame their struggles."

Then he patted her head gently and Lily left immediately. Snow looked at her daughter and said, "I wonder where she gets all this energy from."

Leo smiled as he took a cup of tea from Snow. The young man suddenly turned to look at the window pane and saw how the room began to heat up as the sun moved down on the horizon.

He thought of something and then finished his tea, and left the study to visit the glass craftsmen of the city. Their forges were located in the outer town, the young man rode his horse, and on the way he spotted Lily standing beside an elderly lady who was teaching her how the crops are being planted and how they would be extracted.

The outer city was looking better than before, it was cleaner, and the people were liking the idea of using the toilets. Leo nodded upon watching this. He reached the forge where the craftsmen processed glass. He came down the horse and said, "Maximus, be good and wait for me here."

The horse snorted and the young man went inside the forge. As he pushed the door, a bell chimed and he found a shabby store. However, he didn't mind it as a calm voice sounded from the side, "Hi, how can…"

The person paused in his speech and stood up straight from his seat and bowed his head as he said, "Your Grace, what caused you to come here? You could have summoned me to the palace."

Leo waved his hand and said, "When you are thirsty, you go to the well, and not the other way around. May I know what to call you?"

The middle-aged scruffy man said, "Sire, this humble one is called Theseus."

The young man nodded and said, "Master Theseus, may I ask if you have a pen and paper?"

The man quickly nodded, and fiddled around his desk to find a few papers and a wooden pen. Leo spread the paper carefully and then he drew a sketch on it as he said, "I want glass panes, as many as you can make within a month. All of them should be about two arms long and two arms wide. Then I want them to be arranged together like this sketch on the paper."

Theseus frowned and then he said, "I would be able to produce two panes on my own, and that would make fifty such panes, Sire. Would they be enough?"

Leo frowned and then said, "What is the price of these panes?"

Theseus hesitated and Leo said, "Please be honest. You all are working hard."

The man sighed and said, "Glass is hard to make and is very delicate as well, so including the processing and handling, it would cost twenty silver coins for each glass panel."

Leo quickly did the math, and said, "Twelve Gold Coins."

Theseus nodded and Leo said, "Can you communicate with the other Glass masters? I want more of these panels. However, from twelve gold coins, how about we do eleven gold coins. I am giving you a big business after all."

Theseus looked at Leo and wanted to say something and the young man said, "See, you know that it is hard to sell glass. The amount I am offering to you is reasonable. I am buying in bulk right? I also have to manage the Town and at the moment generating revenue to sustain everyone is hard. Winter will be upon us in three months. If you agree to the price then at least the food crisis in the winters would be solved."

Theseus was surprised by what Leo said, and asked, "How will you do that, Sire?"

Leo smiled and said, "You would know when the time is right. For now, just tell me if you agree to the deal."

Theseus thought for a bit and then he nodded. Leo nodded and they shook hands on it. The young man went out of the shop, hopped on his horse, and headed back to the palace. He had just walked inside the living room, when he saw Jock rush up from the other side, and she said, "My Lord, come quickly, they found a big bear in the western outskirts. The guards are trying to battle against it. Kyle has left already and he told me to inform you."

Leo nodded and he was about to rush out, when Lily and Snow appeared beside him, and they stopped him. Snow questioned, "Where are you going without the armor? Put it on."

She then helped him take off his brocade jacket and put on a soft leather armor. Then Lily gave him a quiver filled with arrows, and said, "Grandpa Crawford has mounted your sword, spear and bow to the side of Maximus's saddle. May you be victorious!"

This prayer was the custom of this dream world. However, Lily gave him the weapons without hesitation so it was apparent that the little girl had been taught to stay strong in such situations.

Leo smiled and said, "Thank you, my dear."

Snow also prayed for his protection and after giving her a kiss, Leo went through the door, got on his horse and said, "Maximus, let's go."

The horse stood up on its hinds, and dashed through the western door of the palace as if a gust of wind. Jock followed behind Leo as quickly as he could. The young man lowered his head to look past his underarm and said, "How many people are fighting it now?"

Jock yelled, "Lord, five of the patrol team."

Leo nodded and passing through the western streets, they quickly came to the outskirt of the town and he saw five men trying to defend against the violent and chaotic attacks of the bear. Then he picked up his bow, nocked an arrow, as he said, "All of you step back."

Whoosh, the arrow flew through the void in a beautiful parabola.
