Chapter 94: He Wants to Kill Zhao Xu
Compared to Bo Jingmo’s reaction, Zhao Xu was absolutely overjoyed.
He stared at the woman’s figure with infatuated eyes, walking toward her step by step, murmuring, “Banxue……”
Yu Li sat high above on the platform, gazing down at the accomplice who helped destroy the original soul. Under the red veil, her beautiful face was devoid of any expression.
She lowered her head slightly and used her toe to lift Zhao Xu’s chin, her tone unreadable: “You said… you’ve always liked me?”
The gesture carried a hint of humiliation, but done by her, it came off as graceful—almost like a gift.
Zhao Xu obediently tilted his head back, his eyes filled with daze and obsession. He grinned, “Yeah… Banxue, you finally understand me. You finally know how much I love you…”
The corners of the woman’s lips curled faintly, but her tone as she spoke was puzzled, even a bit aggrieved:
“But why did you help Old Wei frame me?”
Zhao Xu’s face froze, his voice stuck in his throat.
But the woman’s accusation continued: “Clearly, I wasn’t the one who killed Li Li or Du Yanhan, yet you sided with them and blamed me.”Yu Li bent down, leaning closer to Zhao Xu. Her voice floated across the short distance, a seductive whisper like a ghost’s enchantment.
“I killed those villagers because they did bad things. They tried to assault Du Yanhan. Tell me, didn’t they deserve to die? Shouldn’t I have killed them?”
The female ghost’s body gave off an indescribable scent. Zhao Xu instinctively inhaled, his eyes dulling as he opened his mouth slightly:
“They… deserved it……”
“I knew you’d understand me.”
The woman laughed softly, reaching out slowly and tapping the man’s shoulder with her fingertip. Her ethereal voice echoed through the room.
“Zhao Xu, I can let go of the past. Look, I even helped you in front of everyone just now. Shouldn’t you help me in return?”
Who that “someone” was went without saying.
Zhao Xu’s heart fluttered wildly at her touch.
Especially when he heard her call Bo Jingmo an outsider. His breathing quickened, joy surged to his head, and reason completely vanished. His eyes widened in excitement: “I’ll help! Banxue, just tell me what to do!”
He knew it! Banxue was just messing with Bo Jingmo for fun!! In the end, she would choose him!!
Yu Li glanced at a certain someone who looked like he was about to lose his mind and smirked.
Bo Jingmo, you refused me earlier. Regretting it now?
Too late.
She turned her gaze leisurely back to Zhao Xu, her tone casual: “Zhao Xu, you know Old Wei’s been using something to suppress me. Do you know where he’s hiding it?”
Zhao Xu paused, opened his mouth, his eyes full of hesitation.
Old Wei’s warnings echoed in his mind.
But the woman’s soft voice instantly drowned those warnings out: “I know what you’re worried about. Old Wei threatened you with your sister’s life. I’ll protect her.”
Yu Li’s eyes sparkled as she suddenly pointed toward Bo Jingmo:
“And this man… I’ll let you kill him yourself. How about that?”
The moment she said it, Zhao Xu’s expression changed.
He was silent for a while, then spoke in a low voice, “Banxue… you really won’t lie to me?”
Yu Li’s voice was gentle: “Zhao Xu, I came to you because I trust you.”
Zhao Xu’s gaze landed on the red veil over her head, his eyes shadowed.
That wedding dress—he had specially ordered the village seamstress to embroider it. On their wedding day, Banxue had refused to wear it no matter what. In the end, it had been forced on her by Old Wei after her death, to suppress her resentment.
He had never seen her wear this dress while alive, had never truly had a wedding with her.
Yet now, it had ended up on Bo Jingmo’s outsider body.
In the vast ancestral hall, the man suddenly lifted his head, eyes gleaming.
His eyes held a fanatical intensity as he said each word slowly: “I’ll help you. But… I want to consummate our marriage.”
The air seemed to freeze.
Crack—a sound of something shattering.
In an unnoticed corner, Bo Jingmo still sat with his head bowed. The shadow concealed most of his face, and the half of it that was visible showed no expression.
But look closely, and veins were bulging on his neck. His eyes were a violent, bloodshot red—like a beast on the verge of attacking its prey.
He wanted to kill Zhao Xu.
【Holy sht holy sht holy sht holy sht, Zhao Xu you madman.】
【Bo Jingmo’s still right there. He totally said that on purpose!!】
【Zhao Xu has always been jealous that Yu Banxue chose Bo Jingmo. He’s her husband but never got to consummate the marriage.】
【So now he’s asking for it? OMG!!! What kind of battlefield is this?!】
【I wanna interview Bo Jingmo right now, hahahaha.】
【Are you a devil?? LOL he's definitely losing it. Can’t you see his fists are clenched?】
【But Bo Jingmo’s always been calm, right? Maybe he won’t explode? And didn’t the ghost hurt his teammates? How could he still have feelings for her?】
【Yeah, the ghost hurt his people. Normally he should be afraid of her.】
【Maybe he’s planning how to escape… or how to stop Zhao Xu from helping the ghost.】
【Zhao Xu really has no shame. Killed Yu Banxue and now wants to take over her body too?】
【He’s the worst—wants everything. Sacrificed Banxue to save his sister. What a disgusting man.】
【Yu Banxue was trafficked here already. Now she has to worry about these traffickers’ lives? I’m fuming!】
【Hehehe… am I the only one dying to see what the sister under the red veil looks like? I wanna lift it…】
Yu Li hadn’t expected Zhao Xu to be this bold. She instinctively glanced at Bo Jingmo.
But the man kept his head down, lost in thought.
Her tongue pressed against the inside of her cheek, and she repeated with interest, “Consummate the marriage?”
Zhao Xu narrowed his eyes: “Why not? You could do it with Bo Jingmo—why not me?”
“Of course.”
Yu Li leaned lazily against the pillar, propping her head up with one hand and smiling, “As long as you help me succeed, I’ll agree to anything.”
“Deal!”
Zhao Xu’s eyes lit up with joy and anticipation. His heart pounded as he quickened his steps, walking past Bo Jingmo to a corner of the table.
He had come here many times to see Old Wei, and that guy always took things from this spot.
His fingers fumbled along the wall, feeling around for a hidden latch. Then—click—
A section of the wall opened, revealing a familiar wooden compartment.
Zhao Xu’s face lit up. He quickly pulled it out.
Just as he was about to hand it to Yu Li, he looked up—and froze.
His ecstatic expression stiffened.
His hand trembled uncontrollably.
Clatter—the box dropped to the floor.
On the wall, a tall shadow loomed behind him.
The pitch-black silhouette was a full head taller than him, exuding an overwhelming pressure and danger, like a savage ghost with claws bared.
And behind him, the chair’s ropes had been cut, with shards of broken glass scattered on the ground.
The man stood silently behind Zhao Xu, holding a sharp piece of shattered tile between his fingers.
Drip, drip, drip…
Blood flowed from his palm, trailing down his slender fingers. It pooled at the tips and fell, one drop at a time, to the floor.
What do you think?
