Chapter 21 - 21 21 Here's a Million, Leave My Son
21: Chapter 21 Here’s a Million, Leave My Son 21: Chapter 21 Here’s a Million, Leave My Son “Leave my son,” he couldn’t yet get the words out.
Emily quickly took the check, revealing a sweet smile.
“Uncle, you are too kind.”
Evan Palmer looked at Emily with even more disdain.
He was about to have someone escort Emily out.
A shuttle bus sped up like a sports car, screeching to a halt next to Evan.
Carlos jumped down from the shuttle, tossing aside the steering wheel.
After Oliver gave him a heads-up, Carlos learned that Evan Palmer had found Emily.
He thought of the night at the bar when Emily was bullied by an old man.
That silly woman, better not be bullied by Old Fox Palmer.
When Carlos arrived, he saw Emily standing aside like a timid daughter-in-law, with Evan looking proud, just like an “Evil Mother-in-law” giving her daughter-in-law a hard time.
“What are you doing?”
Carlos spoke in an accusatory tone.
“Carlos, mind your tone.
I’m just helping you solve a problem.
Your judgment of people is lacking.”
Evan had, in similar fashion, driven away many women who entangled Carlos, and this one was no exception.
“Did you really take his money?”
“I did.”
Emily nodded.
Carlos snatched the check from Emily’s hand, noticed it was only a million, and scolded her, “In your eyes, am I only worth this much?”
I’ve never seen such foolishness; his past girlfriends would at least demand two or three million.
“You think I took too little?
But in our village, when a daughter-in-law meets her in-laws, at most she would receive a red envelope with two thousand.
Uncle gave me a million.”
Emily shyly smiled at Evan Palmer.
“A meeting gift, who told you that was a meeting gift?”
Once Evan heard this, he couldn’t maintain the smile on his scholarly face.
“No way, no way?
Aren’t you Carlos’s dad?
Carlos is the boss, you’re an even bigger boss.
You’re the big boss, and an elder too, meeting me, a junior, for the first time, you wouldn’t not prepare a meeting gift, right?”
Emily exaggeratedly covered her mouth, her expression seemed to say, “If that’s not a meeting gift, I’d look down on you.”
“Me!”
Evan was left speechless by the question.
“Since it’s a gift from dad, then just keep it.”
Carlos suddenly felt that this foolish woman also had the benefits of being foolish; she probably truly didn’t realize that Evan wanted to pay her off.
“Thanks, Dad.”
Following Carlos, Emily obediently called out “dad.”
“Who’s your dad.”
“She really should call you dad.
From today onwards, she’s your daughter-in-law, officially registered.”
Carlos took out a red marriage booklet, waving it.
When Evan saw the marriage certificate, a flash of fury crossed his eyes, but he quickly masked it.
“How could you decide on such an important matter without discussing it with us.
Your mom won’t acknowledge this marriage, nor will your grandfather.”
“Whether they acknowledge it or not, we’ll find out after meeting them.”
Carlos planned to take Emily to meet his mother.
Evan glared fiercely at Emily, and was about to leave when Emily unexpectedly called him to stop,
“Dad, wait a moment.”
“Do you have something else?”
Evan found Emily increasingly irritating.
“That, about the meeting gift, should it be doubled.
Besides me, there’s also another one in here.”
Emily touched her belly, her face full of maternal love.
“I forgot to tell you, Emily and I are having a baby.
Congratulations, dad, you’re about to be a grandfather.”
What do you think?
