Chapter 132: 079 Romantic Night_2

The old Emperor shook his head with a smile, “It’s different, Captain… Yang Ming, right? Your name is a bit of a tongue twister, but it’s easier to remember, I’ve remembered you, Yang Ming.”

A faint smile appeared at the corner of Yang Ming’s mouth, a flash of pride crossing his features.

—He did it on purpose.

The old Emperor shifted the topic, “So why have you come to this country? Especially at such a stormy time. You should know, I only have a few years left to live, the New Federation wants to send my family to the gallows, they are lurking in every corner now, using their technological advantage to destroy this peaceful country.”

Yang Ming felt the attention in the hall gathering upon him.

He understood that his forthcoming answer was crucial for his development on Ilando Star.

Regardless of whether the old man before him was an intelligent machine or a carbon-based life form, he embodied the will of the Empire, the master of Ilando Star, possessing power over life and death above the law.

Yang Ming spoke slowly, “In my bones, I am an opportunist, but I will adhere to moral and legal boundaries.”

“Oh? Tell me more.”

“I came to the Luofeng Empire as a risky investment.”

Yang Ming smiled,

“Political instability means there are many opportunities here, and the struggle of various forces indicates that there is plenty of wealth hidden here. For this reason, I convinced my uncle, also to gain myself a decent starting point.

“Being a businessman is the most boring option, I want power, I want status, I want a reputation that can influence others.

“So I came here, seeking noble status in the Luofeng Empire.

“I chose to support the royal family because the royal family has a strong enough foundation.”

The old Emperor’s eyes became much sharper, “You lied, young man.”

Yang Ming’s heart skipped a beat.

He matched the old Emperor’s gaze.

The old Emperor calmly said, “You chose to support the royal family not because of the so-called foundation.”

“Yes,” Yang Ming slowed his speech, giving himself more time to think, “I chose to support the royal family actually because of the Sherman Empire behind it. I’ve felt its strength and dominance first-hand, as long as the New Federation does not dare to confront the Sherman Empire with an army, this little game of agents and spies is not enough to challenge Sherman.”

The old Emperor smiled noncommittally,

“You are still too young, the military is just an extension of politics, the Sherman Empire has been on the losing end in recent years, which is an undeniable fact.”

With that, the old Emperor slowly stood up.

“It was a pleasure chatting with you today, we can continue to chat leisurely while you are on duty.

“Now, the time belongs to my daughter, with this old man here, you all probably wouldn’t dare laugh aloud, I’m leaving.

“Enjoy yourself, Emilia.”

“Thank you, Father Emperor,” Emilia gracefully lifted her skirt and curtsied, “In this area of play, your daughter certainly won’t disappoint you.”

“Oh, ho ho ho,” the old Emperor clearly in good spirits, left the table with a broad smile.

A group of maids and guards hurriedly followed, and the mechanical guards outside the door formed an escort formation.

As soon as the old Emperor left…

The room full of young people collectively exhaled, then exchanged glances, and laughed out loud.

“Hey!”

Miss Windsor gently tapped Yang Ming’s arm, looking at him intently,

“You never told me about these interesting past experiences!”

“Want to hear about it?” Yang Ming asked with a smile.

“Of course,” she propped her cheek with her right hand, her eyes sparkling, “I want to know more about you.”

“Shall we grab a drink tonight?” Yang Ming whispered in her ear, “We can chat all night.”

Windsor gently bit her lower lip, whispering, “Then I’ll let Dad know in advance that I might be back a bit late tonight.”

Yang Ming’s heart warmed.

She agreed.

6:30 PM, at the night venue where 026 worked, public restroom.

Yang Ming turned the water on full blast, activated his portable jammer, and muttered into his watch.

“Lyu, have you gathered the material?”

“Yes, boss, I sensed the thought signals of the old Emperor’s intelligent machine up close.”

“Get me a report as soon as possible, I need to know during which keywords I brought up his thought signals showed significant changes.”

“So far, it’s ‘freedom,’ ‘adventure,’ ‘Sherman’… I’ll make a detailed analysis. Remember to take safety precautions, your biological factors must not be leaked easily.”

“Got it, my nagging life assistant.”

Yang Ming put the watch down, removed the hidden earpiece from his ear, and looked at himself in the mirror, smiling a bit.

This would be a brilliant night.

Yang Ming turned to look at his back, swayed gently, and gradually relaxed as the drum beats from outside grew louder.

This night venue was Windsor’s choice because 026 mentioned she worked here, and Windsor wanted to see 026’s work status. They had previously added each other on social media at the home of an economics professor, and it seemed they had kept up a normal friendship since then.

Yang Ming walked out of the restroom, looking towards the corner he had reserved, 026 was saying something to Windsor, both of them had some drinks, laughing very cheerfully.

Seeing 026’s current status made Yang Ming a bit envious.

Though she hadn’t fully shrugged off the effects of medication, she now had a promising life, which was very nice.

There were figures moving behind him.

“Hmm?”

Yang Ming arched an eyebrow.

Two burly men appeared ahead, dressed simply, in jeans, leather jackets, or floral shirts and baggy shorts, but their eyes were hostile, fixing on Yang Ming.

The Third Prince’s thugs?

Yang Ming’s peripheral vision swept towards Windsor’s direction, noticing the two hidden female bodyguards were already on alert.

The four of them encircled Yang Ming.

Yang Ming smiled and raised his hand to loosen his tie.

“Fight?”

The other party didn’t respond, suddenly pulling out half-meter-long electric batons from behind, striking fiercely at Yang Ming’s shoulder.

Bam, bam bam bam!

The dull thuds seemed to perfectly sync with the drumbeats.

Yang Ming calmly stepped out of the shadows, wiping the blood from his hand, with four figures writhing and twitching behind him.

“Ming? Is something wrong?” Windsor asked with concern.

“Windsor, you head home first, you two come out and escort Windsor,” Yang Ming instructed directly to the hidden location of the bodyguards, “026, get back to work and hide properly, remember to tell Karmi to send me the details of those causing trouble here by tomorrow before I wake up, or I’ll personally find her.”

“Yes, yes, Mr. Ming!”

“Ming!” Windsor exclaimed nervously.

There appeared to be more shadows swirling around.

Yang Ming smiled at Windsor, “Would you leave first, please? I don’t want you to see me commit violence.”

Windsor’s eyelids twitched gently; before she could speak, the two female bodyguards stepped in front of her, quickly calling for backup.

Meanwhile, behind Yang Ming, two shadows urgently charged forward, wielding electric batons and metal rods, aiming at the back of his head.

Yang Ming flipped and swept his leg, the two shadows instantly knocked flying.

Screams erupted around them, and the two DJs at the control station froze for a moment before switching to a track with a more intense rhythm.

Yang Ming squatted and grabbed a metal rod that had fallen at his feet, casually tested its weight to make sure how much force wouldn’t cause direct fatalities.

Ahead, shadows shifted, someone reached for their bulging waistband.

Yang Ming felt a surge of anger.

Damn it!

These flunkies of the Third Prince sure had a knack for choosing their moments!

His romantic whi…

Swoosh!

Suddenly, the sound of something slicing through the air was heard, a delicate little bag hit Yang Ming on the head, he turned to glare, only to see Miss Windsor grinning sheepishly while holding her two high heels.

She had meant to help…

A figure rushed forward ahead.

Two high heels flew past Yang Ming, hitting the advancing figure, inflicting minimal damage.

Yang Ming sprinted, accelerated, the metal rod whistling through the air.

He decided to bestow the energy he had prepared for himself upon these unworthy goons.
