A Sweet Encounter

The chase ch 5

Before she could respond, a loud BANG! Shattered the air, and cracks began to spider across the rear windshield. Sky’s gaze snapped to the rearview and side mirrors, her expression hardening. BANG! BANG! More gunfire followed, and in the distance, a white Bolero came into view.

The man in cuffs, Ethan, remained still, his jaw clenched in a grimace. "I hope you don’t get motion sickness," Sky asked Ethan, her voice calm but with a hint of humor.

He gave a small, almost imperceptible shake of his head. Sky smirked at his response, her tone shifting to playful. "Then hold on tight."

She hit the gas, pushing their car ahead to create some distance between them and the Bolero. But the other vehicle wasn’t backing down; it sped up to match their pace, staying on their tail.

Sky’s fingers quickly found the comms button. "Wolf, track my location. Send Team 2 after me. And connect me to Agnes."

"Captain," came Agnes’s voice through the earpiece, crisp and clear. "Agnes, I need you and Lucifer behind me, now. I’m under attack. Let Team 1 handle the ground situation."

"Got it, Captain," Agnes responded without a moment’s hesitation.

Before Sky could make her next move, another BANG! The Bolero slammed into their car, jolting them forward. Sky’s grip on the wheel tightened, her driving skills keeping them steady and on track despite the hit.

Without a second thought, she pressed down harder on the accelerator, speeding up once more.

At that moment, Wolf’s voice cut through the tension. "Captain, about 500 meters ahead, there’s a left turn that leads to a factory under construction. I’ll send the coordinates to Agnes and Team 2 right now."

Sky’s eyes quickly scanned the road ahead. With barely a glance, she jerked the wheel left, dodging the Bolero again. Their car slid for a moment but quickly regained its traction as she pushed the speed even higher, pulling further away from their pursuers.

Sky's focus was razor sharp, the world outside blurring as she navigated the high-speed chase. Time was running out with the bolero still hot on their chase. She could feel the pressure rising, but she didn't flinch.

The city was drawing nearer, but so was the factory, the only place that could offer her a way out. Sky slammed her foot down on the gas, pushing the car harder, the tires screeching as they struggled to grip the road.

She glanced at the mirrors again. The Bolero was still there, closing the gap, its engine growling like a predator stalking its prey.

At that moment, Sky sharply turned the steering wheel to her left, heading for the under-construction factory. The car screeched and accelerated, safely escaping the raging bolero.

The Bolero, unaware of their plan, had previously accelerated, once more to catch up with them. But due to the change in direction, they moved ahead of their target. This situation caught them off guard.

Looking at the Bolero left behind, Sky smirked. Now gaining the upper hand in the situation, she sped up again.
