A Sweet Encounter

Cuffed at the first meeting ch 4

Sky gestured subtly for Lucifer to hand her the cuffs. Both of them exchanged a quick glance, confused but Lucifer complied, passing them to her.

"Complete your task and head to the station," Sky ordered, her voice sharp and professional. She then shifted her focus to Ethan, her gaze cold. To distract him momentarily, she asked a few casual questions, just enough to get close enough to cuff him quickly.

The cold metal clicked around his wrists, and his face twisted in disbelief. He felt offended. He narrowed his almond-shaped eyes, making his already black eyes appear darker.

His dark almond eyes flashed with fury as he spoke, his tone clipped, "What do you think you're doing, officer? Didn’t you see? I’m the victim here. Didn’t you see the kni..."

Before he could finish, Sky interrupted him with a firm, low voice, "You’re under arrest for suspicious activity. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be used against you in court." She narrowed her eyes, observing him closely.

"I know where Trek Tech Corp is located. You’ve driven out here, to Apleton Highway—an hour away from your office. She continued sarcastically Oh! and don’t tell me you lost your way."

She let the silence hang for a moment before she spoke calmly. "And don’t even think about running. Get in the car."

With that, Sky slid into the driver’s seat, starting the engine. The air inside the car felt tense and cold, the silence heavy between them. As they drove back toward the city, Sky spoke without looking at him, her tone flat. "I’ll take your statement at the station. You’ll have a chance to call your lawyer there."

She sighed quietly and added, "It’s in your best interest to tell the truth, describe what exactly happened, if you don't want to be implicated further."

At that moment, Sky’s earpiece crackled with Wolf’s voice, sounding troubled and anxious. "Captain, we’ve been misled. That case, it was a decoy. A trap to delay us from following the real lead."

He gulped before announcing another bad news "We have just recieved news that the drug deal has been finalised."

SILENCE, but this silence was quite deafening after processing the news, sky was stunned, "WHAT, curses". . Sky’s grip tightened on the steering wheel, frustration rising. "Damn it." She took a deep breath and turned back to Wolf, forcing herself to stay calm. "What’s the status?"

Wolf’s voice came through quieter, laced with unease. "I’m still digging through it, Captain, but I can confirm the people we took today are part of the Scorpion Group."

Sky’s pulse quickened as the pieces began to fall into place, but the news only deepened the mystery.

Before she could respond, the sharp crack of a gunshot pierced the air, the sound echoing in the car like a jolt of electricity.
