Chapter 811: Chapter 489: Unexpected Law (Request for Monthly Votes)

“Anna? Anna, what’s wrong?”

“I don’t know.”

Anna also wasn’t sure, she just suddenly felt unwell.

“…”

Saros stared blankly at them, while Elder Shan immediately came forward; he was a learned physician, and after his examination, the old man revealed a smile. The unexpected child.

“Child.”

“We’re having a child!”

“Anna, you’re pregnant.”

Anna and Owen Layne were both extremely happy, only Saros had a look of astonishment until his brother patted his shoulder, jolting him back to reality: “That’s great, really great.”

“Right.”

Owen Layne thought of something Saros had said before: “Do you think this is a coincidence, the unexpected law; you had just finished speaking when we discovered Anna’s pregnancy, would this child count as a gift we already possessed, but didn’t yet know we had?”

“Eh?”

Saros had never been so confused before; for a moment, he lost his usual wisdom and composure, continuously muttering to himself: “Does he, does he count, or does he not…”

Saros knew better than anyone that this child was naturally a manifestation of the unexpected law, and a perfect gift aligned with fate.

But why, why now?

The curse of the Electronic Frontier took away his future, yet fate was like a miracle, like a beam of light in the darkness, illuminating his bleak and dim world.

‘The unexpected law, a gift from the heavens.’

‘This is a miracle.’

Saros never believed that true miracles existed, but facing the laughing couple, for the first time, he felt that miracles did exist in this world.

“Let him follow you in the future, and you teach him his skills.”

“The disciple of the great hero Saros!”

Owen Layne knew Saros well; his brother valued family above all, and he would surely cherish this child, protecting him with all his might!

“Thank you, Saros,” Anna placed her hand on her belly, her face full of a tender smile: “This to us is the most precious gift.”

“Ah, yes.”

“For me,” Saros’s eyes brimmed with tears, his voice slightly choked: “It’s also the best gift.”

“Sorry, I’m just too happy.”

Saros couldn’t stand the atmosphere here: “I’ll go outside for a walk, I’ll be right back, I’ll return very soon.”

Backing out the door, Saros almost tripped over the threshold.

Everyone thought he was just overly excited, hence a little clumsy, but only Elder Shan understood what this sudden joy truly meant for this man.

‘You won’t get the best.’

‘Because you will get something better than the best.’

Saros could never forget that girl he met on that night, the words she had said to him.

Though she knew nothing, it was as if she saw right through the confusion and worries in Saros’s heart, blessing him.

When the child was born, witnessing him arrive in this world unharmed, the joy in Saros’s heart was indescribable, he was even happier than the child’s actual father.

“This child, is this the one?”

Holding the newborn, Saros’s hands shook uncontrollably; a great hero who could overturn even the gods, yet he felt the child was so weighty, heavy to the point he feared that in the next second, the baby would disappear from his arms.

“Hold him tightly!”

Saros hastily handed the baby back to his brother, wanting to hold him longer, yet fearful of using too much strength and hurting him.

“You’ll be this child’s teacher, Saros.”

“Of course!”

“I will, I definitely will.”

Saros excitedly repeated: “I’ll be his teacher, I’ll teach him all my skills, and my treasures, I will give him the best things in this world.”

Whatever it was, even if it was his life, as long as it could help this child grow and advance further, it didn’t matter.

That was the vow he had made!

It was a promise made with his life, his future, his everything!

“This is good.”

“This…”

Recalling the sacrifices over the years, Saros revealed a relieved smile on his aged face: “It’s good…”

“Boom!”

The massive ark sailed through the endless Reversed Flood Stream Domain, with Bailuo’s eyes closed; he did not look, but relied on his own intuition, firmly believing he could navigate everyone through this challenge.

The crimson Reversed Flood surged like lightning across the sea, on several occasions almost grazing the hull of the ark.

“Next, turn left.”

Bailuo didn’t know why he had to turn left, but he just knew that it was what needed to be done at that time.

Thus, the hull swiftly veered.

At that moment, the Flood attacked once again, narrowly missing the ark – a hair’s breadth away from destruction and death.

On the deck, everyone watched this scene unfold, so thrilling that even they, being entities of the Miracle, couldn’t help but hold their breath. At this moment, their Master of Miracles was at the helm, his life, as well as theirs, at stake.

There was still a long journey ahead, far from over, and Bailuo dared not relax for a second.

Inside, he was afraid, full of reverence for the legendary Great Power.

But within this awe, Bailuo was not cowardly; he was afraid of failure, yet what he feared more was disappointing his uncle.

His uncle had never been defeated in his life; whatever he did, he was always the most dazzling one.

Perfect strategy, flawless arrangement.

“I have prepared everything for you.”

He could always hand you what you needed most at the right time.

So Bailuo would not lose, nor could he afford to lose.

Bailuo too had his pride!

He would never allow, in the future, people to mention Saros’s legend with the following: “Saros was unstoppable, but his final death was due to misplaced trust.”

“If only the one at the helm could have led them away, Saros wouldn’t have died.”

“Yeah, it’s all the fault of that helmsman.”

“If Saros had been steering, they would have surely made it out.”

“Unfortunately, it wasn’t Saros.”

All along, not only did his senior sister yearn to challenge his uncle, but Bailuo, too, wanted to challenge that man.

Admiration aside, Bailuo did not concede defeat.

Perhaps his uncle was really strong, perhaps he had become old, and even if he was defeated, it wouldn’t be a fair victory.

But Bailuo earnestly hoped that one day his uncle could sincerely tell him that he had surpassed him, that he had reached heights his uncle never did!

“Rumble!”

Not knowing how much time had passed, Bailuo had lost his sense of time; all he knew was that he had piloted the ark, through the storm, and across the chaotic sea where the Flood Streams crisscrossed.

“We made it.”

As sunlight fell, and a beam of light cut through the dark clouds onto the horizon, Bailuo opened his eyes, somewhat in disbelief: “We, we made it.”

“Uncle.”

“Uncle, do you see? We made it!”

“We made it out, Uncle!”

The first thing Bailuo wanted was to share this immense joy with the old man, to tell him he had not let him down, he hadn’t disappointed you.

However…

On the deck, the elder bathed in the golden sunlight, sitting there with his head drooping in front of him.

He had passed away.
