A rare magical miracle in the world

Chapter 810 - 488: Gift (Requesting Monthly Pass)

Chapter 810: Chapter 488: Gift (Requesting Monthly Pass)

“There’s no need for that, Miss Anna, it was just a simple act of lifting a hand.”

Saros once passed through a village while seeking miracles. That place was being plundered by bandits, and he encountered this lady named Anna, whom he rescued.

Saros had not expected that he would meet her here.

Is this his village? How did Anna come to be here?

“I joined a traveling troupe and began working as a Singer within it.”

Singers, or female minstrels, convey various stories circulated throughout the continent with their sweet voices, much beloved by the people.

“Half a year ago, the troupe arrived here.”

Anna said, “Here, I met a man worthy of my trust, and so I stayed.”

“Is that so?”

Saros was happy for Anna, who then invited him: “Please come visit my home, my savior.”

“This…”

Saros agreed but intended to visit his elder brother’s home first before heading to Miss Anna’s place.

“Does your brother also live here?”

Anna, now very familiar with the village, offered to show the way, and therefore inquired about the name of Saros’ brother.

“Owen Layne.”

“Your brother, his name is Owen Layne?”

Miss Anna wore a strange expression because, coincidentally, her husband also bore that name: “Are you certain he lives in this village, and not somewhere else?”

“What’s wrong?”

Saros grew serious, worrying whether something had happened to his brother.

Fortunately, Miss Anna assured him that the only Owen Layne in the village was alive and well, living quite comfortably.

“Please, this way.”

Anna, carrying a wooden basin full of clothes, led the way, while Saros, having dismounted, followed behind her, leading his horse.

Soon, they arrived at a hunter’s cabin-like dwelling at the foot of a mountain.

The house was not luxurious, just a simple hedges homestead with some ordinary small trees and a silly-looking white dog resembling a Samoyed.

When the creature saw Saros, it neither raised the alarm nor acted defensively; instead, it foolishly stuck out its tongue, making Saros seriously doubt its combat abilities and alertness.

“What breed is this dog? It looks so foolish.”

“Adai was brought home by my husband from the mountains. It’s not a dog, though, it’s a wolf,” explained Miss Anna, “but it must have damaged its brain in a fall and that’s why it acts this way.”

“Oh ho, how interesting.”

Saros played with the dopey White Wolf, not entering the house uninvited since it was a long-awaited reunion for Saros and his brother; they couldn’t ruin the atmosphere.

“Anna, Anna, you’re back?”

“Why are there so many people?”

Opening the door, Owen Layne was surprised to find many people in his yard, especially the burly, strong man following his wife, Anna, which sparked a sense of déjà vu.

“You are…”

Owen Layne looked at Saros, whose eyes were slightly reddened, and his face showed an incredible expression: “Saros?”

“Are you, Saros?”

“Big brother!”

Saros stepped forward and hugged the man into his arms. Family ties were important to him, especially after the curse of the Electronic Frontier, Owen Layne was his only relative in this world.

At this reunion, Saros was overwhelmed with mixed emotions, with so much to tell his brother but not knowing how to start.

“Quick!”

“Come in, come in quickly!”

Taken aback, Owen Layne still ushered everyone indoors: “Anna, get everything ready, last year’s brewed fruit wine and the preserved honey meats. This is my brother, remember? I told you before, I have a very capable brother.”

Saros was somewhat surprised as he looked towards Anna, who nodded slightly in confirmation.

“I almost forgot,” Owen Layne introduced, “this is Anna, my, my wife. I told you about her, in the letter, did you receive it?”

Although more than twenty years have passed, Saros is still that young boy in Owen Layne’s eyes.

He hasn’t changed, especially in relation to himself.

With just one look, Owen Layne could see into Saros’s heart, the family member who joined the military to protect his older brother.

“So that’s how it is.”

Saros finally understood why Anna had that expression on her face.

It must be said, this was truly a miraculous coincidence.

The woman who Saros once saved was now united in marriage with his brother, and had become part of his family.

“Did such a thing really happen?”

In the night, after being hosted by Anna for a hearty meal,

even though it was nothing compared to the sumptuous delights they had tasted in various Miracle Kingdoms, no one present cared for culinary desires.

In their lives, there were things more important than indulgence, namely memories.

And at this moment, the reunion between Saros and Owen Layne was for them, like a historic moment—wonderful, coincidental, yet tinged with a hint of sadness.

Because time flies, they had been apart for twenty years before meeting again today.

“Speaking of which, it really is a bit of a coincidence.”

Owen Layne, holding his wife’s hand, said, “I wrote to you, mentioning that I met a woman I admired, but I never told you her name.”

Despite all the advice Saros gave him, tirelessly helping him with strategies, Saros only learned his sister-in-law’s name today.

“I did as well.”

Anna, with her hands entwined with her husband’s, said, “I always mentioned to him that I met a benefactor, but never once revealed the benefactor’s name.”

The two looked at each other with love in their eyes, which left everyone else speechless, since they had just been fed a mouthful of dog food, with quite a number of single folks still among them.

Mu Yunji shook his head; Old Luwei, however, didn’t mind, he already had his own family, and even a granddaughter.

“Anna has always wanted to find you, to repay that kindness.”

“Hm?”

Saros, smoking a cigarette, paused for a moment, then laughed, “Come on, big brother, we’re all family now.”

Not to mention that this was his sister-in-law; even if she were just an ordinary woman, Saros wouldn’t expect her to repay anything.

Moreover, having someone to accompany his brother, who’d been alone for decades, was to Saros the greatest kindness he could receive; it was he who should be thankful to Anna.

“Whatever it is will be fine.”

What Anna wanted was more like completing a ceremony than repaying Saros.

In fact, she had already married Owen Layne, and that was like repaying Saros’s family for a lifetime.

“This is a custom from our place; if you really can’t think of anything, just casually name something.”

Anna said with a smile, “Whatever it is will be fine.”

“Alright.”

Saros understood what his brother and sister-in-law meant and said, “Then I’ll just mention something offhand, and give it to you as my wedding gift to you, my blessing.”

Anna wanted to repay her debt, to give her connection with Yatun’s family a perfect start and finish, and that’s what Saros thought of.

After all, he was not present at their wedding.

He was Owen Layne’s only brother, so Saros took this chance, through their words, to make up for a missed memory.

‘But…’

Saros pondered for a while, looking around for something that could serve as a gift, yet finding it difficult to decide.

At that moment, a term came to mind.

It was a custom Saros had encountered on an adventure in a certain country, where a person who had saved someone’s life wanted to show gratitude, and the rescuer didn’t expect payment, it could be invoked.

“Unexpected Law.”

Saros recounted the story he had heard, explaining to the couple, “It’s the first thing that the saved person sees when they get home, or a gift that you already possess but don’t realize you do.”

“A thing already possessed, but unknown to us?”

Owen Layne pondered this statement, and at that moment, Anna beside him covered her mouth, suddenly feeling nauseous.
