A random pokemon journey

Helping

While pokemon were more sturdy than normal fish and thus could survive out of water for a good while it wasn't good for them. Creating these shallow "ponds" in the craters at the lakebed fixed this problem temporarily but crowding was also a big issue here as only so many pokemon could reasonably fit in a "pond" before it became more pokemon than water. The lake had been a thriving place before this disaster and even with a good fifty percent of the lakes inhabitants dead there was still a LOT of fucking pokemon.-

The water types that could live out of the water such as Golduck and Lotad were helping to fill the "ponds" as well after seeing me doing it. Unsurprisingly they were much better at creating water than I was and so we barely managed to get all the surviving water pokemon into a shallow amount of water by the time the sun started to set. My own energy reserves were at an all time low as I was damn near tapped out at this point and felt a bone deep weariness. I didn't even bother leaving the lake bed and just found a semi comfortable place to lay down to sleep.-

When I eventually woke up I was surrounded by my pokemon as well as a good dozen others that were huddling together for warmth and comfort. I carefully extricated myself from the group before going to work adding more water to the ponds in a slow but progressive attempt to refill the water of the lake. I knew that once it snowed or rained much of the lake would refill naturally but judging from the sky there was little chance of that happening today.-

I wasn't aiming to refill the whole lake by my own efforts though, just enough water to cover the bottom of it in a about a foot of the stuff. With the help of the pokemon themselves this was entirely doable as already the majority of the craters were filled with water and so adding more water should incrementally increase the level of the water in the lake. I didn't stand to do this but rather sat on top of a rock and created a weak but steady stream of water from my hands that flowed as it felt like.-

I managed to raise the water level by a few millimeters by the time the other pokemon woke up and started joining in. We worked tirelessly to produce more and more water and by the time the sun started to set again we even surpassed my goal by a foot of water. With two feet of water from the lakebed the water bound pokemon were FAR less cramped than before though there was still not much room for them to roam. "I think you've done enough. More than anyone could ask of you young man but it's time to go, theres work you need to do." Professor Rowan said as he walked up to the edge of the lake I was sitting on.-

I shook my head "It's too late to stop what's coming. As we speak Galactic is already likely to be extracting the red chain from the three lake guardians." I said with a tired sigh. "How did you know that the other lakes were also attacked?" he asked surprised. "The leader of Galactic is too smart to attack only one lake at a time since it would only allow you to reinforce the remaining lakes. If I'm not mistaken while your attention was focused on this lake the team hit the other two before bailing after getting what they wanted."-

"With all three lake guardians it would take only a small amount of time to extract the red chain from them and possibly even create a second chain artificially with the data from the first. The moment those chains fall into the leaders hands we will have only a single chance to interfere, on Mt. Coronet's peak." I said with a dark tone. "You mean Spear pillar? I thought the place was merely a temple?" he said confused.-

"A temple sure but mere? Not a chance! Spear pillar is not sacred because people worshiped there but because it is the closest to the four pokemon that created the world as that was where the world first came into existence if you believe the tales. I can't help but wonder if my patron will step in this time or leave it to me to deal with?" I say with the last bit muttered under my breath as I rubbed the spot on the back of my hand that held the mark that symbolized my blessing from Giratina.-

"Four? I only know of three!" Rowan said seriously. "That doesn't surprise me, they have been purposefully buried by history though whispers of them still echo if you know what to listen for. That doesn't matter though as the red chain won't work on that one." I say calmly. "You sound as if you've given up on stopping Galactic." he said seriously but I shook my head. "I haven't but I won't lie and say we aren't walking a tightrope at this point. A slight imbalance one way or the other could spell devastating consequences. I'm not concerned though as I will cut down the leader of Galactic when he comes out of hiding to ascend the peak of Mt. Coronet, the rest will crumble afterwards." I said frankly.-

"Then why are you here and not on Mt. Coronet?" Rowan asked with a frown. "I'm easing my own conscious before putting myself in that stressful position. Did you know I was actually on my way to this lake to stop them from taking the guardian? The leader of Galactic assumed that I would and sent one of the admins to delay me, they succeeded. I know it's not really my fault this happened but I can't help blaming myself a bit."-

"Helping to try and repair this place seems the least I can do to pay for my failure." I said with a sigh. "I understand. You think you didn't try hard enough to stop this, that you failed these pokemon somehow as a result. But you did try didn't you? You made an effort when nobody asked it of you to stand against this evil and even if you failed you at least did something about it. Can you imagine how many others I've come across in all my years that can say the same? It's a number I can count with the fingers of both hands." he said sternly.
