Volume 15 Chapter 6: Heading To The Demon Kingdom
The next morning, Keith held Eri in his hand while Scarlet came out, “So which carriage are we taking?”
“That giant one.”Scarlet pointed at a giant black and crimson one at the gates. It was quite grand as on-lookers stared. As they got on, Eri sat on his lap as she glanced around the interior.
“So, mind telling me what’s happening at your kingdom?”
“Eh?”
"Don't-" There had to be something going on if she asked him. It was at the last minute, meaning there was a serious issue. Scarlet was going to explain, but that was when Eri pointed, "Wahhh! Papa look!"
"This would be the first time you'll be going through the gate." It was a wonder as well. On the other side, that was when they had arrived at the demon kingdom.
“Look at that!” Keith's glimmered as he stared. The two of them continued to stare out while the others did the same. Scarlet chuckled, “Are you that excited about this?”
“Of course!” “Mmhmm!” Eri was holding onto Lei and Mir as she stared out of the window. Keith nodded, “This is the first time I’m going to another kingdom.”
Scarlet tilted her head, “Didn’t you go to the Philosopher Kingdom?”
Instant facial scrunch up.
“I did not go there.”
“Really? My mistake.” Scarlet giggled before Eri tugged on her shirt, “That?” She pointed to some purple grass, “Ahh, they’re called Violet grass. Most of the terrain here is pretty dark.” Her tone hinted that she much preferred lighter colors. Once the carriage entered the castle, they got off; knights and butlers were waiting outside.
“Princess.” The knights bowed their heads.
“Mmhmm.” Scarlet nodded, and she turned around to Keith, “What’s the matter with you?” She noticed the weird expression he had as he stared. “You’re a princess.”
“Hah? Of course, I’m a princess?!” She was the princess of the demon kingdom! Keith tilted his head and murmured, “But when we’re at home, you usually act so childish.” The difference was uncanny.
“...Princess.” Even Eri had to look up at Scarlet in a different light. Of course, she learned about a princess in the books Keith read to her before. There was one who was before her now. While they talked, they headed into the building. There were a lot of different paintings on the wall as they walked.
“Pretty nice place you have here.”
“Welcome to our home, Keith.” Lilith smiled at them.
Keith did a light bow, “It’s a pleasure to meet with you again, Lady Lilith.” He was going to say something else, and that was when he patted Eri on the back, “Eri, this here is Scarlet’s grandmother. Say hello.” The girl was still a little shy to everyone that was around. However, Lilith tilted her head as she noticed the new inclusion,
“Hmm? You have a child now?” Instantly, she could tell that Eri was Keith’s child. She bent down and smiled, “How adorable.”
“Hmm!” Eri continued to hide behind Keith’s leg, but then she peeked out, “Hello.” She remembered what Keith had said and listened.
Lilith’s smile softened, “Hello, dear. I’m Lilith, I hope that you have a wonderful stay here.”
“Mmhmm.” Eri continued to nudge Keith’s leg. Keith smiled as he patted her head, “I apologize, lady Lilith. She’s not used to strangers.”
“It’s fine. I still remember when Scarlet was like that when she was a child.” Hearing this, the demon princess tilted her head, “I wasn’t like that!”
Lilith shook her head and corrected, “You were worse.” The two continued to discuss with one another before Keith then added, “Ahh, I also bought some gifts.” That was when he raised up a bag.
Lilith’s eyes glimmered as she stared at the bag, “What’s in that, Dear?”
“It’s jam made from the fruits of my garden. I hope you enjoy it.” Keith smiled, which caused Lilith to grin, “That makes it all the better.” She knew the fruits he grew were incredible.
“Grandmother, can you show Keith to his room? I need to do that first.” Scarlet’s expression turned melancholy.
Lilith nodded, “Alright.” She turned to the others, “Please come with me.”
“Mmhmm.” “Bye-bye.” Eri waved her hand as they were brought to his room. When Keith glanced around, that was when he was in awe, “Lady Lilith, there’s no need for you to get such a big room.”
She shook her head, “There's no need to fret so much. It's a pleasure for us to treat our guests. You can rest here until the maids call you over.” The two had come from a carriage.
“Dad! Play.”
“Oh, sure.” Keith smiled as he took out the plates. It was a green plate, “Can you tell me what this is?”He had a grin while Eri pouted. She stared at the plate, “Carrot!”
“Correct!” Keith had been making a lot of these plates after what Aidiun had told him about this. And there were a lot of different ideas that came to mind.
What do you think?
