Thank goodness she has Lady Lilith. Without her, Keith would worry about the child all day. Knowing that she was safe, his priority now was to analyze his opponents. The next match was sort of a letdown. It was between two mages. There was one mage capable of using mid-tier magic.
However, his opponent was only capable of using low-tier magic. Even if there was a difference in knowledge, you could win if you had enough creativity. However, he was wrong...The mage self-destructed. He used his magic, but his opponent exploded it in his face, causing his spell to go haywire.
I should be fine going into the next battle. Keith knew he could beat him; the way the two used it wasn't efficient. It wasn’t that he was acting cocky; it was based on skills. As he thought about this, that was when he heard the chant from the crowd.
“Valgros!”
“You can win this tournament!”
"Show everyone your strength!"
“Valgros! Valgros! Valgros!”
"Hoo, everyone is into him." The reaction from the crowd was something; the chants and cheers were much better than any other contestant.
“He’s one of the strongest contenders to win this tournament.”
“Woah! Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be sitting on that podium?” Keith suddenly jumped as he stared at Scarlet standing beside him. The princess shrugged, "It was getting irritating sitting there and getting gawked at." Right before everyone to see. The audience consistently gawked at her, forcing her to stay composed and tidy.
"I'd rather stay here."
“I see. He’s a strong contender?” Keith then turned back to the stage, where he saw a buff man who looked to be in his early to mid-twenties enter the ring.
“Yep. To be fair, Valgros was considered to be a candidate for the knight order.”
“But?" There had to be a but to this.
“He beat up the vice-commander and was kicked out of the training program. He made a name for himself as he's been traveling around the kingdom, defeating anyone he sees. His name is well-known to the locals."
“I'll have to keep a watch on him." As he observed, the other guy seemed to be strong. He was a fighter type. But Valgros had a composed expression as he stood up with his blade in his hand. A regular short sword. Ahh, he was a knight.
The one who made the first move was his opponent. Demonify. It was beastified but for demons. He had seen Titus use that.
So he’s trying to take him out in one move. That was to be expected. With such a prominent name, the threat was all the more significant. However,
“Wrong move.”
Slash!
In an instant, blood poured out from his opponent’s chest! It was such a flurry of blood that exploded from him. Keith blinked. What speed. So, all of those muscles were a facade. This guy was the speed type instead.
“I think that’s enough.” Scarlet sighed, “He’s probably going to be the one you face in the quarter-finals.”
“Oh, you think I can get that far?”
“Heh, I know you will.” Scarlet smiled as she held his arm, “Now let’s go home to Eri."
“...Sure.” There was a high chance Valgros would face him in the end. That just meant he had to take him down. Returning home, Keith started to play with Eri.
On the second day of the tournament, Keith headed into the stands. But Scarlet shook her head, “Keith, you don’t need to sit there.”
“Hmm?”
“Got you a private box, so you don’t need to worry.” Scarlet smiled as she turned to Eri. That was when they headed in there. It was a private box where no one could see them.
"Thank you." Keith smiled.
“Papa, Cookie.”
“Alright. But only a few.” Keith handed her one for now. She began to eat calmly, her face wearing a happy smile. And she was not the only one.
“Keith, cookie me as well.”
“Yes, yes.” Keith sighed at the sugar lover as he handed over a chocolate cookie. Lilith tilted her head, “What are these?”
“Cookies, Lady Lilith. Would you like some?” Keith then pointed out, “We have double-stuffed chocolate cookies and chocolate chips. There's also blueberry cookies.”
“Then I will have the blueberry cookies.” She took a bite and savored every bit as they watched the matches. But while they were doing so, Keith's eyes were directed to one person. He was wearing a mask and also a cloak. He was going to challenge a fighter, and he didn’t even hesitate as he fired magic!
“That was impressive.”
“But I don’t think he will win.”
“Why’s that?”
“The fire magic was splendid, but it wasn’t enough. There were some problems as well.” Scarlet frowned, being accustomed to fire magic.
“Hehe.”
“What’s the matter, Grandmother?”
What do you think?
