You are all bad women! Don't come over!

Chapter 355 - 346: Seeing Each Other Once

Shen Mochen awkwardly listened to the mother and daughter's argument, or rather, Catherine's one-sided outpour.

After listening for a while, Shen Mochen felt that Catherine was still rather childish. Thinking about it, she spoke to her father in the same way. They didn't seem like family but more like enemies.

Of course, Shen Mochen could understand. If what Catherine said was true, such a family in name only indeed lacked affection.

That Earl had lovers and illegitimate children elsewhere, and the Countess had lovers as well.

The huge villa was usually occupied by only Catherine.

Shen Mochen thought of that empty home and figured she might be better off in a smaller house.

Finally, the end was in sight as the vehicle slowly stopped outside a restaurant in the suburbs. Though calling it a restaurant, from its appearance, it looked more like an elegant, medieval small castle, solemn and serene in the dim twilight.

Shen Mochen had never been here before but had heard classmates mention it. This was the most upscale restaurant in Yu Huai City, even in Gaotang State. One couldn't come simply because they had money; they needed to be a member and to reserve in advance.

And the membership requirements for the restaurant were also very strict; even among students from First Middle School, dining here was something to talk about.

As the car slowly stopped here, two female attendants at the door came over, took the initiative to open the door, and revealed charming smiles.

"There aren't many people here."

Shen Mochen got out of the car and casually remarked.

He noticed the restaurant was somewhat dim, seeming to lack any customers.

"Because we've booked the whole place for today!" Angelina said with a beaming smile, linking arms with Shen Mochen and pulling him inside.

Shen Mochen followed Angelina into the famous restaurant in Yu Huai City, restraining the urge to look around and making an effort to keep his gaze straight, so as not to be seen as a country bumpkin.

Catherine, however, followed casually behind, wearing a bored expression on her face.

Shen Mochen glanced at Fuzi, who was standing next to the vehicle with no intention of going in.

The restaurant was quite spacious, with a famous musician who had appeared on television sitting by the piano, playing soothing music for the esteemed guests.

The three of them settled at a dining table. A waitress snapped her fingers lightly, and the candelabras and bowl's floating candles were instantly lit.

Shen Mochen was slightly startled, instinctively turning his head to look at the female attendant who was pouring wine for them with lowered eyes then realized she must be a Superpower User.

"Is this your first time visiting such a place, Yupi Nan? Is there anything specific you want to eat?" Angelina sat across Shen Mochen, had taken a menu specially, and handed it to him.

Shen Mochen looked at the menu in Roman language with a somewhat headache, struggling to decipher it. His TAST studies were in Huaqi, and he really wasn't familiar with Roman.

"Do you want to eat anything in particular, class president? I'll have the same," Shen Mochen handed the menu to Catherine next to him and quietly tapped Catherine's hand under the table.

Catherine glanced at him, seemingly amused at Shen Mochen's embarrassment, but she didn't trouble him further and pointed to a lobster, a mutton chop, and a traditional Roman thick soup.

Angelina noticed the little interaction between the two and, with a subtle shift in her gaze, excused herself to use the restroom.

"What's going on, is your mother inviting me to dinner?"

Seeing that the parent had temporarily left, Shen Mochen finally breathed a sigh of relief and quietly questioned.

"Didn't she just say that?" Catherine played with her phone indifferently, not even glancing at him.

"Why, though? Is she going to offer me a million or eight, like your dad, to stop me bothering her daughter?"

"I don't know, I don't care about what she thinks." Catherine said blandly, "If she really gives you the money, just keep it, consider it a small fortune."

"Ah, how can I accept this..."

"Now that you have money, do you look down on this little amount?"

"How could I, but with what identity should I accept it? We're just..."

"Right, we're nothing to each other, and you're not planning on bothering me anymore. It's a complete waste for her to give you money." Catherine suddenly turned off her phone screen, raised an eyebrow with a cold smile, and then took a necklace out of her pocket to put it back on, "When she really offers you the money, I'll remind her."

Shen Mochen's face showed some embarrassment, suddenly feeling a twinge of guilt. He lightly tapped Catherine's smooth shoulder, "Don't be mad, I was just a bit taken aback, suddenly meeting your mom..."

Catherine gave a sideways, cold laugh, "You were very brave the day you met my father, weren't you? He said it was the first time someone threatened him with death."

Shen Mochen's face turned awkward. When a man rages, he spills blood within five steps, leaving two corpses; the whole world is draped in mourning white. He had said this in front of Earl Alexander, but a significant factor at that time was that Shen Mochen had lost all hope and had nothing to lose, so he revealed his villainous nature without restraint.

But things were different now. It seemed he had many things again, not just Yin Caiyu but also other people and things he cared about, and he began to have reservations again.

If Earl Alexander were to stand in front of him at that moment, he might not say such aggressive phrases again.

Furthermore, Angelina did not have the same arrogance as the Earl; instead, she was quite easygoing, making it even harder for Shen Mochen to treat her like he did the Earl.

"It was different then..." Shen Mochen said awkwardly.

Ever since he learned Catherine's real age, Shen Mochen had started to see her through the lens of "childishness."

"That's for sure, it was his own fault for not paying attention, particularly mentioning Yin Caiyu..." Catherine grimaced, "If he hadn't brought up Yin Caiyu, you definitely wouldn't have spoken to him like that for someone else's sake, right?"

"I..." Shen Mochen detected a hint of sourness and mockery in Catherine's words, pressed his lips together, hesitated a moment, "No, even for you, I would have..."

"Have you forgotten, I can tell when someone's lying." Catherine "heh'd," pointing to her slightly red ears.

"Eh, did I lie?" Shen Mochen was slightly stunned; in truth, he couldn't clarify whether the previous statement was a lie or not.

Both fell silent for a moment, and Catherine fiddled with the floating candle in her bowl, softly spoke up, "Actually, I didn't know beforehand that she was coming. When I got home, she was already waiting for me. It was her idea to invite you to dinner. I wouldn't have looked for you at this time; I know you don't want to see me now, and I didn't think about causing you trouble."

"I..." Shen Mochen scratched his head, finding it difficult to speak.

Catherine was incredibly sharp and understood everything.

"Actually, it's no trouble, just meeting up... After all, we are classmates and friends..." Shen Mochen said.

Catherine laughed softly with her head down, able to discern the truth.
