Note Chapter

(Or skip this chapter if you're one of those who stay at the surface, looking for a hero who smiles and explains his actions at the end of every chapter.)

I’m writing this not to justify, but to speak.

Those who demand justification from a writer aren’t seeking understanding.. they’re seeking confirmation of their personal tastes.

If you think every piece of art should comfort you or reflect your beliefs, then perhaps you’re looking for a mirror, not a story.

I’ve heard some of you say my novel is atheistic. Strange.

I didn’t write about God. I didn’t pose any direct existential questions. I didn’t embed any religious philosophy in the events.

And yet, that word appeared: “Atheism.”

Do you know what that really means?

It means what disturbed you wasn’t what was written.. it was what you felt while reading it. And that’s your issue, not mine.

Some say that (Dee) is nothing more than a killing machine.

Very well...

Do you really believe the world produces heroes through good intentions alone?

Do you think cruelty is always a form of aggression?

Do you expect every character to explain “why” they did what they did just to ease your conscience and help you label them as “good” or “evil”?

(Dee) is not a trailer for an action movie, and certainly not a character born to please anyone.

I didn’t write this to give you a hero to proudly admire.

I will not explain why (Dee) is ruthless. And I never will.

I assume you have eyes, some level of intellect, and perhaps even a bit of feeling.

Those who want to understand, will understand.

And those who want to judge.. let them judge.

This is my novel.

It’s not a public stage play seeking applause.

It’s not a social drama produced to cater to every age group.

If you find something in it that bothers you.. you can close the page.

It’s that simple.

I don’t write to please you.

I don’t write to provoke you.

I write because there is something inside me that demands to be written.

The rest.. is just an echo.

So read… or don’t.

But never think you have the right to demand that the writer be just like you.

Because a writer who pleases everyone.. writes nothing worth reading.
