Chapter 15 - The Story Begins
Chapter 15: The Story Begins
In the following days, everything fell into place naturally.
With sweet words and financial generosity, Yang Yu found it easy to lead someone astray.
At first, Ding Dian resisted. But as time passed, all her resistance faded.
Yang Yu didn’t stop at winning her over.
He also made sure her family was well taken care of. Not just her parents, but her extended family—relatives who barely had any connection to her—also benefited.
If Ding Dian ever wanted to leave him now, it wouldn’t just be about whether Yang Yu allowed it.
Her own relatives would be the first to oppose it.
This was the power of money.
At first, Ding Dian felt deeply wronged. She hadn’t done anything wrong—so why was this happening to her?
But with time, she adapted.
She didn’t know Yang Yu’s exact background, but she saw how he could casually spend tens of millions without hesitation. That alone told her he was no ordinary man.
For the sake of her parents, family, and friends, she had no choice but to accept her fate.
—
One week later.
“I don’t want you to have any contact with Yu Fei from now on,” Yang Yu commanded.
“I… I understand.” Ding Dian took a deep breath and nodded helplessly.
Tears silently rolled down her cheeks.
Hearing Yu Fei’s name made guilt surge within her.
They had always bickered, but after two years together, their bond had run deep.
She had avoided thinking about him—a defense mechanism to escape reality.
But now that Yang Yu brought him up, she had no choice but to face the truth.
She had already betrayed Yu Fei.
Breaking up was the only option.
Yet, she had no idea how to face him.
Caught in this emotional turmoil, she could do nothing but cry.
Yang Yu watched her silent tears and let out a sigh.
Being the villain was exhausting.
—
Three days passed.
To Ding Dian, they felt like an eternity.
She still couldn’t bring herself to face Yu Fei and kept delaying the inevitable.
At the same time, Yang Yu’s sheer power terrified her.
With just one phone call, he got her father—who hadn’t been promoted in over a decade—a triple promotion.
Then, he outright bought the café where she worked and gifted it to her.
Any woman would be deeply moved by such gestures.
But not Ding Dian.
She didn’t feel touched at all—only fear.
A deep, unshakable fear of Yang Yu.
She couldn’t explain it.
Even when he smiled at her, it sent chills down her spine.
Yang Yu found it puzzling.
He had never hit or scolded her.
All he did was show her the power of money.
So why was she so afraid of him?
After thinking it over, he gave up on finding an answer.
It didn’t matter.
As long as he treated her well, she would become the happiest woman—
Though not the only one, he mused to himself.
—
That evening, after dinner, Ding Dian hesitated, stealing glances at Yang Yu as if she wanted to say something.
Yang Yu pulled her into his arms and spoke gently. “Why are you so scared of me? I’m not going to eat you. What’s on your mind?”
Leaning against his chest, Ding Dian murmured, “Jia-jie had a fight with Meng Yun and wants to break up. She asked if she could stay at my place for a few days.”
Yang Yu’s eyes lit up.
The ex-girlfriend’s storyline had finally begun.
Time to tackle his main mission—changing Lin Jia’s fate.
From what he remembered, Lin Jia’s final ending was marrying an old classmate.
So, if she married him instead… would that count as changing her fate?
This task didn’t worry him at all.
He had a Slowly Falling in Love card.
If necessary, he could use it.
But he wanted to try winning her over with his own abilities first.
If he could, he wouldn’t use the card.
After all, would Lin Jia still be the same lovable character from the original story if he forced her feelings?
There was no guarantee.
If the card erased her true self, leaving only blind devotion, then she wouldn’t be the Lin Jia he wanted.
These thoughts passed in a flash.
“I don’t want Jia-jie to know about our relationship. Can I stay with her at my place for a few days?” Ding Dian asked nervously.
Yang Yu chuckled. “Of course. You’re my woman now—you don’t need to tiptoe around. I always give my women whatever they want.”
Relief washed over Ding Dian.
She was terrified that Lin Jia would discover her relationship with Yang Yu.
Lin Jia was her closest friend.
She didn’t want her to think she had become a gold digger.
“When is she coming?” Yang Yu asked.
“Maybe tonight. Maybe not. She called me in the afternoon—if Meng Yun apologizes and asks her to stay, she won’t leave,” Ding Dian replied.
“Take my car to pick her up later. It’s not safe for a woman to be out late at night,” Yang Yu said.
“Your luxury car is too flashy. I wouldn’t know how to explain it to Jia-jie,” Ding Dian said weakly.
“Just say you borrowed it from a neighbor. It’s settled.”
Yang Yu sighed internally.
Fate was unpredictable.
One thought they would never leave.
The other thought they would be begged to stay.
Yet a minor issue shattered their five-year relationship, leaving neither willing to compromise.
Tragic.
What do you think?
