Undead Beast Master: Living Solely for My Desires

Chapter 290: I Am Coming For You

"I had no idea you could do something like this," Zaroth said, looking at Midnight.

"I wasn't sure I could do it myself, to be honest," Midnight admitted. "Nyra… for some reason, she felt different from the others. She had a strong attachment to life, and maybe that's why I was able to turn her."

This sounded strangely similar to how Zaroth was able to resurrect dead beasts. The most important factor was that they had an attachment to life, and secondly, that he hadn't killed them himself. Maybe Midnight was like him—unable to turn those she had killed, and perhaps she had a limit to how many she could control. But that didn't matter. He had finally found someone capable of doing something similar to what he could do.

Zaroth continued to stare at his girlfriend, his eyes filled with awe. Not only had she grown more stunning, but she was even more powerful than before. He had to get even stronger, or risk being surpassed.

"I have a request then. I told you how I am planning to go into the enemy territory, right? I was planning to leave Luna here to defend the city, but you can serve this purpose as well, right? You are stronger than before, and maybe if you kill more people, you will find more suitable people to be turned into your minions," he suggested.

Midnight placed a finger over her lips, making humming sounds, while the two of them were having their conversation. Nyra was doing push-ups, squats, and jumps to get used to her new powers.

"It feels like I've been reborn!" she exclaimed. All of her senses seemed to have grown stronger—her eyesight, scent, hearing. Her body now moved with frightening precision and speed; if she thought about moving in a certain way, her body responded instantly. It was night and day compared to being human—this was the difference between being alive and being a Wight.

Zaroth noted that she did not seem troubled by eating her comrades' corpses; she was either very strong mentally or, as an undead, did not have these kinds of worries.

Whatever the case, he knew that Nyra was going to turn out to be a very powerful force. And if Midnight could control dozens of similar creatures, she would become unstoppable.

He thought he was making progress quickly, but as it turned out, he couldn't afford to slow down.

"Sure," Midnight responded. "This works out perfectly. I was looking for a way to test my new powers, and Nyra will need dummies to practice on. It's a win-win."

Zaroth breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed he would be heading into enemy territory with Luna after all, not alone.

"Then it's better I go now," he exclaimed as he got up on his two feet. Truthfully, he wanted Midnight to teach him more demonic skills, but she would have her hands busy with testing Nyra's powers and figuring out what she could do herself.

However, as soon as he got up, Midnight wrapped her two legs around him and pulled him closer, her breasts pressing tightly against his chest as her arms prevented him from moving.

'Damn, she is several times stronger!' Zaroth noted. It was both terrifying and arousing to be in such a situation.

She leaned in and whispered in his ear, "Thank you for the gift. I'm still a little upset, but I have a feeling I'll be in the mood again as soon as you return."

'This is a motivation alright!' Zaroth thought as Midnight released him from her embrace.

Not having anything else to do, he said his goodbyes, but not before instructing the girls to fix the bloody mess they had made of his house. If someone saw that, it was going to be a disaster!

He made a quick visit to the tavern where Zoe and Betty were. He told them he was about to leave. At first, Betty seemed embarrassed to look at him through his demonic mask, but as soon as she realized he was leaving for some time, her expression changed. She quickly moved toward him and pulled him closer.

'I guess you really are a ladies' man,' Luna teased in his mind. 'You've barely spent one night with her, and now she feels so attached to you.'

Finally, he made his way to the forge and said his goodbyes to Torin—though not before buying a large quantity of the subpar weapons on display.

"What is the point of buying so many of them?" Torin asked.

Zaroth just waved off his hand. "They are dirt cheap and will come in handy."

The quality didn't matter much; he just needed to know that he had a large stock of weapons, ready to be used if the need arose. And if he was going to follow through with his plans, they were definitely going to come into play later.

Buying the weapons, he put them into Nightshade's shadow and then was off.

Midnight was now in charge of protecting Drakmire Bastion while he was going on the offensive.

Standing atop the mountain, he looked out over the vast horizon. His white robes and hair were swept to the side by the strong wind, something he had grown used to. The rising temperature was a clear indication that he was entering enemy territory.

"Isn't it funny?" he exclaimed, a hint of amusement in his voice. "The first time I entered their territory, I was a chained, helpless slave, unable to do anything. Now, I'm here with a new purpose—not to survive, but to conquer them all... to slaughter them all."

His green eyes gleamed through the demonic mask, his heart rate increasing steadily. His body tensed as a wide, manic smile spread across his face. "I am coming for you."

"With that, I conclude my report," Thorne finished, recalling what had happened as he knelt before Solara.

"So, a man with the appearance of a ghost, who commanded a dragon, slaughtered the entire force?" she asked, seeking confirmation as she nervously bit her nail.

"That's correct, my princess," Thorne replied, ashamed of his failure.

"… I see. It would be suicidal to attack the city with our own forces—they'd be sent straight into a meat grinder. The only way to take down the dragon is if several of our council members face it in battle," she muttered to herself.

"Does that mean we're giving up on the city?" Thorne asked, his voice tinged with disbelief and regret.

"For now, yes. All of the members are too busy conquering more land. Calling them back would slow down the invasion too much, which would mean the Graveborn Empire would take too much of the Draconian land. As such, we will put all attacks on the city on hold."

Thorne clenched his teeth in frustration. He wanted to kill the bastard who had slaughtered his army, but he didn't have the power or the authority to do so.

"But that doesn't mean we will leave that ghost unchecked, right?" Solara asked, a twisted smile creeping across her face.

"As such, I'm placing a bounty on his head. I want him dead or alive—doesn't matter. Whoever brings him to me will be rewarded with a million gold coins."
