Vol. 1 - Chapter 271 - Report
"That’s all I have to report. Every word came straight from HuMing’s mouth himself, and we’ve got footage of all his actions."
"Good. Lay low for now—don’t let anything slip. I don’t want any accidents happening next."
"Understood."
In the grand hall, someone hung up the phone.
Had Ye QiuXue been here, she would’ve been shocked—it was the photographer from the amusement park just now.
But at this moment, his identity was far more complicated than merely being a photographer.
What’s more, surrounding him were other staff members from the amusement park.
Their appearances varied, but their mission was the same.
They’d spent the whole day watching HuMing’s every move, trying to dig up any potential weakness he might have.
And frankly, they hadn't expected to discover he was afraid of heights.
Word had it that this guy was impressive—he’d even offended people from "Blizzard" and walked away unharmed. That alone made them pay extra attention to him.
But seeing how flustered he was today, they couldn’t help doubting the truth of those rumors.
"You think we really need to keep tabs on a high schooler? No matter how tough he is, he’s still just a student."
"I don’t know. But you’re well aware of that man’s temper. If we tick him off, none of us will walk away unscathed." Someone spoke cautiously, clearly wary of the person they'd just reported to.
It was obvious—he held deep fear and respect for the man on the other end of the call.
"Seriously though, do we really have to take orders from him? We’ve got our own plans, don’t we?"
"Unless you’ve got the guts to betray him? Or maybe you want the boss lady to find out you’ve turned your back on 'Blizzard'?" someone sneered, but not a single person dared to refute him.
Everyone here shared the same secret—they’d all privately taken on side tasks.
No one had imagined that even within "Blizzard", there were people like them.
But deep down, they all knew: they’d already set foot on a path of no return.
"Enough. Stop talking about this. Whatever that man tells us to do, we do it. For now, we should all scatter. If the boss lady finds out we’ve been gathering here, she’ll definitely get suspicious."
What appeared to be calm on the surface within "Blizzard" was, at this very moment, a turbulent undercurrent.
…
Ever since that video of HuMing in the kendo club had gone viral online, many of his classmates had started paying attention to him.
It was only then that a lot of the girls noticed—the new transfer student was actually quite handsome.
A guy who’s both good-looking and can fight—who wouldn’t like that?
So after the weekend, when HuMing returned to the classroom, the first thing he saw was that his desk drawer was stuffed to the brim with envelopes.
Overflowing, even.
He had a fair number of books in there, sure—but even so, the sheer amount was ridiculous.
Xia Chen’s jaw dropped, disbelief written all over her face. She used to think Gu YunZhou getting chased by girls all the time was already over the top—but now, seeing HuMing, he realized this was next-level. So many girls throwing love letters at him? He’d never even seen something like this before.
"HuMing, do you know what all this means?"
"What? Hurry up and help me clean this mess up."
Staring at the pile of letters in his drawer, HuMing’s head throbbed. He wasn’t even trying to humblebrag—dealing with all of this was genuinely a headache.
And more importantly, he didn’t need this kind of attention at all.
"You’re not even tempted to pick a few out? These girls clearly like you; you ought to at least give someone a little response, right?"
"You’re nuts. I don’t have the time or energy for stuff like this. Besides, don’t tell me you actually think this is a good thing? When girls go crazy, even you will get dragged through the mud." HuMing knew all too well how some girls' minds worked.
The behavior could easily be compared to hardcore fandoms—and frankly, it was terrifying.
Never mind what they might do—their actions alone were enough to give anyone a headache.
"What, starting to see yourself as some bigshot celebrity now?" Xia Chen couldn’t help but jab at him. Having an idol sister, he was well aware of just how scary fan culture could be.
His younger sister constantly complained to him—saying how those rabid fans would even curse the idol themselves.
As if the real person wasn’t good enough—the ideal version they’d imagined in their heads was the only one worth loving.
Being an idol was no joke. The pressure could be enormous.
HuMing glanced at Xia Chen, and suddenly, Xia XiaoXi’s face came to mind.
When Xia XiaoXi was under pressure, she never told anyone—not even her brother.
That thought made HuMing’s heart ache a little. And what moved him more was that she still got up on stage and performed with all that pressure weighing on her. That alone put her far ahead of most people.
"By the way, how’s your sister doing lately? Haven’t seen her in a while. Is she doing alright?"
"You actually remember my sister? She’s been doing fine. I heard she’s getting along really well with your sister—Han YunXi. And more importantly, I think they’re both dying to visit the capital and see you."
At that, Xia Chen couldn’t help but sound a little sour.
HuMing really was surrounded by beautiful girls. Word had it he even had a friend here who was stunning—and if Xia Chen ever got the chance, he’d love to see for himself.
"You’re nuts. Of course I remember your sister. And besides, she’s from JingDu to begin with—it’s only natural she’d come back."
"What about summer vacation? Are you planning to stay in JingDu?"
"No, I’ve got something to take care of—I’ll be heading out for a while."
And that wasn’t a lie. HuMing really did have something important to deal with.
Hearing that, Xia Chen finally said, "Oh right, one more thing—my dad wants to meet you. How about this afternoon?"
HuMing was a little surprised by that. He hadn’t expected Xia Chen’s father to want to meet him. They’d never crossed paths before, so he had no idea what the man had in mind.
But to raise kids like Xia XiaoXi and Xia Chen, Xia Chen’s father was probably a man with his own unique views.
"Sure, this afternoon works."
As soon as he finished speaking, a pile of love letters slipped out of his drawer and scattered onto the floor.
Just as Gu YunZhou walked through the door—and caught sight of the scene.
His mouth opened slightly, wearing the same stunned look as Xia Chen.
His cousin managed to charm this many girls in no time at all—now that took real skill.
He couldn’t help but recall HuMing’s display of strength at the dojo. Honestly, he really wanted to ask his cousin to teach him.
But pride got in the way, and he had no idea how to bring it up.
So damn frustrating!!
