Chapter 575: Pantheons Move
An elderly man with speckled hair entered a grand palace. He saw the young man, whose features were untouched by time, sitting on a throne and bowed. “Young Master, it’s time to go.”
Tianyi opened his eyes and looked at Su Bojing, causing the latter to tremble. Only after he reigned in his fluctuating aura did Su Bojing stop trembling. “Okay.”
He stood up and left the Nine Heavens Palace with his attendant. Tianyi didn’t hide his presence when he left Nine Heavens Peak. Although his face and figure were hidden from the wider world, the members of Immortal Court still knew what he looked like. Of course, if they tried taking pictures of him with their Xiyi Talisman or uploading any image of him, it would fail.
Wherever Tianyi passed, the Immortal Court members would stop what they were doing and bow reverently toward him. Some might directly kneel, while others would just bow a bit before resuming their duties.
Tianyi pretended not to notice, but Su Bojing could clearly feel the corner of Tianyi’s lips twitching upward. Yes, even if he was following behind Tianyi, he could still feel it without using his immortal senses.
Of course, Tianyi only occasionally showed himself when leaving Nine Heavens Peak. If he experienced the sensation of people worshipping him too many times, it would lose the novelty real quickly, so he only occasionally did this for his vanity. Like now, where he was leaving the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System to travel to the Herakles System through the True Nothingness.
“Am I late?” Tianyi asked upon arriving at Rites Peak. Although he wasn’t the leader of the delegation, his role was definitely more important than the head ambassador.
“No, just right,” Minister Vastlight said. “The rest of the people are just about to arrive. We should wait inside the palace.”
Unlike the Vast Void, the True Nothingness was far more treacherous and a palace artifact at the sovereign-level was far from sufficient, much less the Descending Immortal Embassy. Hence, the divine palace before them.
Palace-type artifacts were different from many other artifacts, not in terms of effect or quality, but in size and energy requirements. Theoretically, an immortal sovereign was sufficient to activate the power of a divine artifact, but if someone like Minister Everpast drove the divine palace into the True Nothingness, he would run out of essence qi quite quickly, leaving the palace stranded.
Of course, such a problem was not an issue for Tianyi. If he wanted, he could directly use essence to power the divine palace.
In the ten thousand years since the end of the Divine Beast-Human War, Tianyi had stopped objecting to the title of sovereign. Now, those outside the Immortal Court knew him as the Nine Heavens Sovereign, one of the three sovereigns of the Immortal Court.
“By the way, what’s this palace’s name?” Tianyi asked.
“Jade Void Palace.”
Tianyi became silent. ‘It’s not the Jade Void Palace that I’m thinking about, right?’
He looked around the grand hall. Although there were no words on the walls, Tianyi could feel a grand and solemn atmosphere that gave off the illusion of chaos. Pillars crafted out of jade separated the floor from the ceiling. And on the floor were tiles made out of marble that resembled jade. ‘Or maybe it’s not marble at all, and really jade.’
Tianyi started questioning if it was okay for him to control the Jade Void Palace. Although he had confidence in himself, was he really worthy of driving the divine palace?
After a moment of thinking, Tianyi decided to discard the thought. It was the Concealed Emperor’s intention for him to control the Jade Void Palace. Why should he worry about it? Tianyi even suspected that the Concealed Emperor was one of the Twelve Golden Immortals.
If he was more daring, he wanted to suspect that the Concealed Emperor was the Heavenly Lord of Primordial Beginning himself, but after some thought, he rejected the idea. Although it was not impossible, the Concealed Emperor’s image was completely different from the Heavenly Lord of Primordial Beginning.
Soon, the grand hall was filled with immortals. Most of them were only at the true immortal-level and only a few of them were monarchs.
Tianyi’s eyes twitched when he saw the shiny belts on each of the immortal’s waists. Thousands of years ago, he gave up making them a set and granting a theme to them. There were only so many themes he could use. He just started to make them based on the elements alone and assigning a serial number.
Through the long years of accumulation, several legions of rangers appeared. Tianyi no longer felt like the ranger he produced were heroic figures, but that he was the villain that ruled an empire of evil rangers.
Of course, that was just his thoughts. Perhaps because of the standardization, the original morphers became hot commodities. They were no longer part of the standard army but collectable that could fetch an astoundingly high price.
If Tianyi wanted to, he could even release one and earn back over twenty times the cost. But he didn’t. Aside from some rare materials, Tianyi had the confidence to say he was the richest immortal in the entire Three Thousand Immortal Realms System, and that was discounting the wealth of the Nine Heavens Universe.
Tianyi didn’t say some grand speech or anything, he simply said, “Set off.”
He walked to the prayer mat in the center of the hall and sat on it. It gave him the illusion that he was the heavenly lord and the true immortals present were his disciples. However, he did not wallow in this illusion and inserted his essence qi into the Jade Void Palace.
The Jade Void Palace became faint. It continued to turn transparent until it completely disappeared from the Primordial Realm. It didn’t appear in the Vast Void, but directly entered the True Nothingness.
After exiting the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System, the Jade Void Palace could no longer merge with space, so it appeared again. However, its speed was still astoundingly fast, and the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System turned into a blinking star.
Although the Vast Void was dubbed empty by the denizens of the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System, it was nothing compared to the True Nothingness.
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Except for the faint dot that was the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System, he could not see any other lights. According to the information he received, each light should represent a system. The more powerful the system, the brighter the light.
After several years of traveling through the True Nothingness, Tianyi would have suspected that there was nothing in the True Nothingness had it not been for the appearance of the three demigods.
“No wonder only divinities should enter the True Nothingness,” Tianyi muttered to himself. If he could only pilot the divine palace through the True Nothingness for thousands of years, it would have been nothing short of torture.
Luckily, he had a plan for that. Tianyi took out a Xiyi Talisman and started surfing the Xiyinet. He wasn’t the only one. The other immortals also left the grand hall and entered their rooms. Whether they occupied themselves by cultivating or surfing the Xiyinet like himself, it was no longer his concern.
In a structure that resembled a monument more than a temple sat a petite woman with her eyes closed. A feather crown adorned her black and blue hair, but compared to that, only a few strips of fabric covered her body. Still, despite the youthful features, she exuded a pressure that revealed her divinity.
At this moment, two priests wearing jewelry and loincloths came forward and kneeled. Their jaguar mask forged from gold shimmered under the sunlight. “Great Guardian Against the End, Tlaloc, the time of sacrifice has arrived.”
The goddess frowned. “How many of them are there this time?”
“Fifty-two, Goddess.”
Tlaloc frowned. “It’s too much. This is just a small sacrificial ceremony. Reduce it to thirteen.”
“But Goddess…”
“No,” Tlaloc rejected them. “I have not grown weak enough to need my believers to sacrifice so many at once.”
The two priests lowered their gaze. “Yes, Great Guardian Against the End.”
After the two priests retreated, a new figure appeared in the hall. They bore a striking resemblance to Tlaloc. Had it not been for their bare chest, it would have been easy to mistake him for Tlaloc’s brother.
“Tenochtitlan.”
“Mother,” Tenochtitlan greeted.
“You’re about to venture into the True Nothingness for the first time. Be sure to protect yourself. Outside, you won’t be able to receive faith as easily as now,” Tlaloc said.
Tenochtitlan nodded. “I understand, Mother. I’ll come back at the earliest with reinforcement against the devils.”
Tlaloc knew that it was unlikely, but she still nodded her head. “Just do your best.”
In a vast landmass, countless lifeforms prostrated themselves in front of a gargantuan pillar of light. No matter where you lived on the continent, you could see it. The most noticeable difference was that no human existed. Instead, they were all animals. Some had strange colorations or elements cloaking them, but their eyes revealed the light of sapience.
“Great Spirit, it’s time,” a colossal bear kneeling in the forefront said. His fur was blue with white patterns.
At first, there was no response. As if the big bear was just speaking to an inanimate object—err, pillar of energy. That soon changed when the radiance fluctuated, turning day to night and back several times. The surface rippled and a white object flew out.
It was sleek and did not fit in with the organic lifeforms prostrating to the pillar. Resembling a starfish that had closed in on itself, the unknown steel object released a whirring sound as its engine came to life. The five legs moved out and in, as if testing its movement. Soon, five flames burst from its back and it shot to the sky, swiftly turning into a comet and entering the True Nothingness.
It was a vast continent surrounded by endless waters. Countless countries ruled by kings and guarded by knights filled the land. Above it floated an island in the clouds. The denizens of this world know the island as Avalon, but could never reach it outside of miracles.
In a pure white castle embellished with gold was a handsome man in his mid-thirties. He had a well-trimmed beard, golden hair, and powerful green eyes. A golden crown adorned his head. He wore argent armor and had a treasured sword sheathed at his waist. Anyone who saw him would see the perfect knight.
The knight stood in front of a round table, surrounded by ten other knights. Most of the eleven knights wore silver armor like him, but some had armor of different colors.
“Once again, we have suppressed the devil thanks to the holy light and the power of Avalon, but the devils are a tenacious bunch. Our current strength is enough to keep them at bay, but the future remains unknown. We can’t let our guard down, lest we repeat the mistakes of our predecessors,” a knight in black and wizened face said.
“Well said, Sir Aggravain,” a knight in pure white armor said. He was Sir Percival.
“Hmpf, I say we should descend from Avalon and teach those reckless mortals a lesson and rule the land ourselves. We’re risking our life fighting the devils, but here they are, infighting. Because of their war, the population has depleted and the number of talents we can select has decreased dramatically,” another knight in typical silver armor said. He was Sir Bors.
“You can’t blame them. Unlike us, they have limited lifespans. It’s easy for them to regard the danger as fantasy after successive generations,” Sir Percival said.
Sir Bors snorted. “That is still not a good reason for them to destroy each other!”
Before the two could get into an argument, another knight in silver spoke out. He was Sir Kay. “Your Majesty, the delegation should leave for the Herakles System or else we won’t make it.”
At this, all of them looked toward the first knight. He was not a mere knight, but the king and ruler of the Avalon System, Arthur Pendragon.
King Arthur studied the table. On the table was a projection of the Avalon System. The Avalon System shrunk and revealed the emptiness beyond. It continued to shrink until it was barely larger than a dot. Only then did another shining dot appear.
“Among the delegation, only Sir Bors, Sir Galahad, and Sir Percival have reached the level to represent the Avalon System,” King Arthur said. None of the knights disagreed. “Sir Bors is too direct, but Sir Percival is too kind. Sir Galahad, I will trouble you to lead the delegation.”
Sir Galahad saluted the king. “Leave it to me, Your Majesty.”
“Go prepare yourself,” King Arthur said. After Sir Galahad left, he looked at his knights. “All of you leave, too.”
Once the knights filed out and left him alone in the conference room, King Arthur sat down in his chair, which was noticeably taller and finer than the other twelve seats. “Sir Lancelot, my friend, why did you have to fall?”
In a palace where the ground was forged out of stone and the walls were crafted from clouds, a man with a braided beard and wearing an eyepatch sat on a throne. Muscles filled out his frame, and his reddish-copper strands lined his head. Just sitting there, he gave off an imposing aura. A hammer small enough to be held in one hand sat on the armrest.
The burly man grabbed a piece of roasted meat from the table in front of him and stuffed it into his mouth. Juices dripped down his beard as he chewed.
While he dined, a soldier wearing chain mail and a wolf pelt walked in and knelt. “Allfather, it’s almost time.”
The god didn’t reply immediately. Instead, he picked up a goblet and downed the contents. Because of the way he drank it, the mead dripped down his chin, just like the meat juices. After finishing the contents, he threw the goblet on the ground. “Another!”
A maid came up and placed another goblet on the table before retreating.
Before the god could pick it up, a woman with long black hair and verdant green eyes came forward and took it out. “Thor, don’t forget about your duties. Although you are the Allfather now, the Thorson System is still in its recuperation stage. You can’t just focus on eating and drowning your sorrows.”
The Allfather, or Thor, turned silent. His voice was hoarse. “I know.”
He stood up and grabbed his trusty weapon, Mjollnir.
“Ready the Bifrost! It’s time to see that fellow Herakles again. I didn’t expect him to become the new god king of Olympus. Since he dares to invite everyone, he must be confident in his strength!”
What do you think?
