Chapter 39 39: Eviction notice.
It was around three o'clock, and Alix had taught two classes and had one private session with Qing Rao, who was preparing for the winter harmony competition which was now two weeks away.
She was hanging around for thirty more minutes in the office and then she would go and pick up Xiaobo from school.
To pass time, she was in the gaming world, exploring the second world. It was much bigger than the first one.
If that one had been a town, this was a city.
So far, all she had done was walk around from one shop to another, visited a weapons shops and had a brief conversation with another game player, an assasin.
She had to admire the beauty of the second world however because it put the first world to shame.
This city, from a view provided by the elf was built on water. It was an elevated island, surrounded by misty clouds above and an ocean below.
According to the guide provided by system elf as well, most of the citizens were fishermen, weapon makers, dress makers, and hunters. The city was often attacked by bandits, beasts, and the citizens were prone to sudden illness.
She could guess that most of the quests would be related to this.
The last boss in this city was the wizard who lived in a high tower. All the bandits worked for him.
Alix was excited, a wizard meant magic which meant she would need stronger music spells. But to get to the final boss she would have to defeat a few minor bosses and she would need points. This meant quests, so off she went to look at the quest board.
She was looking through the quests when Jin Kang knocked on her office and came inside.
"Xi-Xi," Jin Kang shook her and called.
She removed the ear phones in her ears nd looked at her friend. Jin Kang's eyes were heavy with worry.
"What's wrong?" She asked immediately.
Jin Kang was holding a piece of paper in her right hand and she waved it in Alix's face.
"We are getting evicted."
She whispered looking behind to make sure nobody had followed her through the door and heard her say this.
Alix was confused and she blinked rapidly thinking that perhaps she had misheard what her friend said.
Why would they be evicted? They had paid rent on time.
"Ha-ha, Jin-Jin, nice joke." Alix said and she laughed.
She picked up her bag and stuffed a few of her things inside.
Jin Kang put her hand on the bag and thrust the document in Alix's face.
"It's not a joke, we have been sent a message by management. Madam Qiang is throwing us out."
Alix grabbed the paper and her eyes scanned the writing, moving quickly from top to bottom.
The reason for eviction was not given, it simply said that their rent would be reimbursed and they had two days to move out.
"This can't be legal." Was the first thing Alix said. "Is she crazy?" Was the second.
"I am confused as well. When did we get on madam Qian's bad side to be thrown out like unwanted garbage?
What are we going to do? Should I tell the students to stay home for some days while we figure things out?"
In a strained voice, trying hard not to panic, Jin Kang asked Alix.
Alix looked at the time and thought about Xiaobo. Would he be disappointed if she didn't show up to pick him up after making a promise to do so.
"Can you get in touch in madam Qian's secretary?" She asked Jin Kang.
"My calls are not being answered. I have this feeling that this is not so simple. Someone must be plotting against us. I am going to find a lawyer and we are going to fight this." Jin Kang clenched her fist and she recalled the lawyer's number which Holea had sent her.
It was time to use it, they would not be trampled on easily like maggots. They had rights as tenants.
Alix grabbed her bag and stood up, a move which confused Jin Kang.
But she had another thought which made her smile.
"Good, you are going to find madam Qian, I will come with you."
Alix, while moving slowly to the door guided Jin Kang out of her office as she said, "I am going to pick my nephew from school and then I will handle madam Qian. Don't do anything yet until I call you and don't tell the students or teachers."
Seemingly befuddled, Jin Kang frowned and gave Alix a puzzled look.
"Which nephew...ah..never mind, I know the answer. Bye-bye, but I am calling Holea for help."
"No, leave her for now. Wait for me to tell you what to do." Alix emphasized again as she left.
But even as she emphasized it, she knew that Jin Kang would definitely call Holea. It was her basic first go to move.
It was the same now as it had been in school. If anyone bullied Alix, Jin Kang run to inform Holea.
With fists punching and legs kicking, Holea their defender would come and beat up the bullies.
How long would Holea keep their battles? She, Alix, was a woman with a system now, it was her turn to fight.
While the car drove to Shuhaha International, Alix received a phone call from Billi.
"Huh, what does she want?" She mumbled.
It was no longer her style to run away so she picked up.
"What?" She questioned sternly.
On the other end of the call, Billi cursed and swore.
"You bastard, is that how you answer a call from me?"
Alix sneered and then replied, "I guess the dead rats my husband sent you were not enough. Lin Billi, should I send live snakes next?
If I were you, I would sew my mouth shut. If you keep provoking me, I just might use my position as the new Mrs. Zhang to give a juicy tell all interview to the press about my life with my step mother.
Will your stolen career in the world of classic music survive if I open my mouth? What do you think, should I come back for all the things you stole from me Billi?" Alix asked the question provocatively, emphasising the word 'stole, and she laughed.
Lin Billi was very paranoid and sensitive when it came to her music career. The fact that it was built on Alix's back made her furious.
It drove her mad that no matter how much she played the piano, she was never as good as Alix.
It incensed her that no matter how many compositions she stole Alix could always write more while she couldn't even write one line.
"You dare!!" Billi screamed. "Hey Lin Alix, it's clear that having you evicted is not enough and you want me to do more.
Let me tell you, if you want to stay in that building, you better come grovelling to me on your knees and beg.
Also tell your cripple to put Lin power holdings back on whatever list my father wants.
After doing all this, call a press conference and admit to being the third party in my relationship with Zhang Caishen.
Hey, don't pretend to be high and mighty just because you married a crippled man. He is my reject, the man that I, Lin Billi threw away.
I am giving you until eight tonight to do as I say."
What do you think?
