The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system

Chapter 249 249: A kind brother and a troublesome sister.

In the middle of the night, Alix woke up because something heavy was pressing her down. For a few seconds, she panicked, thinking that she was back to her childhood and she was stuck under the fat housekeeper's bed.

With fear clouding her mind, she turned her head to the right and noticed someone sleeping beside her. Then, she recalled that she had gone to bed with grandma Tai whose legs were thrown over hers.

Slowly, her fear subsided and the scream which had been formulating in her mouth died.

"I am safe." She said to herself.

Her throat and lips felt unusually dry and she felt hot. She didn't know if it was an effect of the wine or the patch but she was craving something cold. Carefully, she extracted herself from the bed and went downstairs to the kitchen. Her slow dragging feet came to a halt when she noticed that the lights were on and Tai Ho Sun was sitting at a table that was pushed up to the wall.

There was a China tea set with green flowers on that table and Ho Sun was using one of the cups. She assumed that he was taking tea and thought it was way too hot for someone to be taking tea.

She rubbed her eyes, yawned and pulled one of the chairs out, sitting down beside him.

"Brother." she croaked out in a lazy voice.

Ho Sun had his phone in hand and he was watching an old movie. "Why aren't you in bed?"

She yawned and stretched her hands before throwing her upper body on the table. She opened her mouth to reply and another yawn escaped her mouth.

"It's hot and grandmother is a hugger even when she is sleeping."

Ho Sun chuckled and said, "Yeah, we should have warned you about that. She is like an octopus when she sleeps."

Alix tried to get up, yawned and went right back to sleeping on the table.

"What do you want?" Ho Sun asked her.

"Something cold." she replied.

He got up, walked to the fridge and returned with a bottle of water and sealed medium sized can of ice cream. He placed the water bottle on her neck and she winced.

"I thought you said you are feeling hot." He took it away quickly and put it on the table. He looked at her sad slightly red face and said, "This is why I didn't want you to drink a lot. Was it your first time?"

She shook her head as slowly and gently as she could which was hard to do since her head was still laying on the table.

Tai Ho Sun hissed and carefully lifted her head, slid his hand down so that her face would be laying on something soft and then let go of her head.

"Ah, sisters are really troublesome." he mumbled.

She on the other hand was thinking something totally different. She smiled and said, "Kyaa!, brother you will make some lucky woman very happy someday."

She lifted her head and her hands went straight for the ice-cream. Ho Sun's larger hand however descended on it faster than her.

"Water first." he told her.

She opened the bottle of water, took two big sips and then looked at the ice-cream with greedy eyes. Ho Sun opened it for her and handed her a spoon as well. It was the same one which he had used to stir his tea but she didn't mind.

Eagerly, she dug into the vanilla and strawberry flavored ice-cream happily. Tai Ho Sun didn't say a word, and neither did she. In silence, she ate her ice cream and he sipped his tea while watching his movie. There was an odd companion like feeling in the air. They didn't need to talk in order to enjoy each other's presence.Every once in a while, Ho Sun would smile at her and she would smile back to him before they both went back to their business.

Later, thirty five minutes or so into this brother-sister late night sit down, Tai Ho Sun had a thought, which he shared.

"Xi Xi, I met someone named Aang Du Chen that you apparently recommended. I have been meaning to talk to you for a while about him."

Alix smiled and said, "He is so pretty, isn't he?"

Ho Sun frowned slightly. "I don't know if I should be calling a fellow man pretty but he is nice looking."

Alix tilted her head and lowered invisible glasses as she questioned whether Ho Sun's eyes were functioning perfectly.

"Nice looking!" she exclaimed.

"Yes." Ho Sun nodded. He actually looked puzzled because he couldn't see what he had said that was wrong or inadequate.

The Aang guy was a nice looking fellow. He certainly had all the female managers, make-up artists and show coordinators wrapped around his fingers thanks to his pretty face.

She rolled her eyes and laughed delighted beyond expectation.

"Brother, nice looking is how you describe your less attractive friend or sibling when you are talking them up to someone else. It's how you describe your old car after giving it a new look. Aang Du Chen is not nice looking, he is gorgeous, drool worthy, dreamy..."

"Maybe you should allow me to record this and send it to your husband." Ho Sun stepped in with a suggestion.

Alix rolled her eyes but shut her mouth. Caishen did not like Aang and she didn't want to stir his jealous pot. She tossed the empty ice cream can on the table.

"Nope, toss it in the bin you lazy bag of bones." Ho Sun told her.

He was well familiar with his sister now to know some of her less than finer habits. She had a habit of leaving empty boxes, cans, food wrappers, sweets and anything she had eaten laying around. It was not specific to foods alone.

A perfect example was the living room which was littered with hair ties and two empty face mask boxes from her beauty session with their grandparents, mother and aunt before everyone turned in for the night.

She turned around, noticed the small silver bin in the direction he was pointing and then smiled. She picked up the ice-cream can like a basketball. She looked at Ho Sun and said, "Brother, if I get it in, what will you give me?"

He leaned forward and told her, "That is sealed bin. You need to put your foot down on it in order for the lid to open up and then you drop something inside."

She mad a whiny noise in her throat like a disappointed dog and then stood up. She threw the can away physically and looked at the door.

She was not hot anymore, it was late and she needed all the rest necessary for tomorrow's game. Not that she needed to sleep all night for that. The system had told her that it would be a three hour mission to take down the dark lord at most.

"Brother, I am going to go back to bed unless you need me to keep you company."

She realized then that she had not asked him why he was not in bed. What exactly was keeping him up? Did he suffer from insomnia?

Her mind, as always in every situation jumped to the one of the worst possible scenarios.

"Why aren't you in bed?" she asked curiously.

"I drunk a lot of coffee during the day because it's a busy week at work." he replied.

As he answered, he stood up with his now empty tea cup in hand. After dropping it in the sink, he looked her way and said, "Let's go. I am going to bed now."

"Brother..." she called softly as they walked.

"Mmm...." he answered.

"Thank you. " She told him.

He had no idea why she was thanking him but he smiled and nodded. He did wonder though if she had really been awake because of the heat.

The look in her eyes when she first entered the kitchen had been quite haunting.
