Chapter 63 The Storm is Coming
Chapter 63 - 63 The Storm is Coming
Is it Amelia Miller?
What exactly does Zuri Ginger want to do?
Mia Ginger sat on the edge of the bed, holding the Jade Bracelet, lost in thought for a long time. She couldn't help but lower her head and laugh, clutching the bracelet tightly until her palm ached.
——
Six o'clock.
She received a text message from Koa Jackson and went downstairs on time.
Aiden Jiang had just returned home, sitting in the living room drinking tea, with Zuri Ginger and Bob Ginger accompanying him, watching a News Investigation program.
Seeing her come downstairs, Aiden Jiang waved with a smile, "Mia, come over here."
"Dad."
Mia Ginger greeted with a smile and took a soft stool from under the coffee table to sit by his side.
"Try the tea Dad brewed."
Mia Ginger picked up a cup, took a sip, and mused, "It's good. It's not Tieguanyin today; it's jasmine tea."
"You can taste the difference?" Aiden Jiang laughed heartily.
"The small bag is right there in the trash." Mia Ginger gestured with her mouth towards the trash box.
"You're clever," Aiden Jiang said, feigning disapproval with a loving glance, clearly in a good mood.
"How can it still be missing!" Charlotte Chester came down from upstairs, frustrated, and sat on the sofa, sighing, "I've searched for it all day and still can't find it. It's infuriating!"
"If you can't find it, just forget it. Small things are like that; when you're looking, you can't find them, and when you're not looking, they might just appear out of nowhere," Aiden Jiang glanced at her, somewhat consolingly.
"Over three hundred thousand!" Charlotte Chester was in agony, frowning tightly.
Thinking for a moment, her expression turned more melancholic, and she assured herself, "It's impossible. How could I misplace something so valuable? It was clearly in that drawer, and the box is still there!"
"Maybe you wore it last time and just absentmindedly put it somewhere," Zuri Ginger quickly smiled and comforted, "Don't worry, we'll definitely find it."
"I clearly put it..."
"Thud!"
A dull sound from nearby drew a few people's attention.
"I didn't notice." Amelia Miller rubbed her knee where it hurt from bumping, blushing, "I was in a hurry and accidentally bumped into something."
"Why are you nervous?" Charlotte Chester suddenly asked.
"Huh?" Amelia Miller was taken aback.
"You were the one who cleaned my room today." Charlotte Chester recalled, "Have you seen the jade bracelet I wore a couple of days ago?"
"Jade bracelet?" Amelia Miller's face showed a hint of panic, and she inadvertently glanced at Mia Ginger, stammering, "No, I haven't seen it."
"Haven't seen it?!" Charlotte Chester became suspicious, "Why are you panicking if you haven't seen it? Why look at the Second Miss? Sneaky.
Amelia Miller lowered her head and said nothing.
"Bring me your bag." Charlotte Chester scrutinized her, speaking authoritatively.
"I didn't take it," Amelia Miller suddenly raised her head, biting her lip, "It's not related to me. It's really not me who took it, ma'am."
"I haven't even done anything yet?" Charlotte Chester sneered, "If it wasn't you, why are you trembling? Do you think I will eat you?"
"It's really not related to me." Amelia Miller bit her lip again and took a step back, cautiously glancing at Mia Ginger, then quickly lowering her head again.
Her expression was strange, and Charlotte Chester's gaze naturally fell on Mia Ginger.
"It's just a bracelet. Why make such a fuss?" Aiden Jiang put down the teacup and glanced at Charlotte Chester, exasperated, "Little Miller has been in the house for two or three years. How could she do such a thing? What are you suspecting?"
"True," Zuri Ginger also laughed, "Amelia isn't that kind of person."
Charlotte Chester's gaze hovered between Amelia Miller and Mia Ginger. Zuri Ginger gave her a look and smiled awkwardly at Amelia Miller, "Why don't you let Mom take a look? It won't hurt, and it will prove your innocence and stop her from overthinking."
"It's really not me," Amelia Miller was almost in tears, "It might be the Second Miss. I saw her go to the lady's room today."
All eyes fell on Mia Ginger.
Mia Ginger slowly raised her head, looking directly at Charlotte Chester, and calmly said, "I didn't go, Mom."
"It is really the Second Miss," Amelia Miller bit her lip with difficulty, "Around three in the afternoon, I had just gone upstairs to clean and saw her coming out of the master bedroom."
"Did you see me take the jade bracelet?" Mia Ginger asked with a smile.
"No," Amelia Miller racked her brains, "but you did come out of the master bedroom, and there was no one else at home. I couldn't be mistaken."
"It's funny; why would I take Mom's jade bracelet?" Mia Ginger sneered.
"Perhaps," Amelia Miller looked at Aiden Jiang and Charlotte Chester, "the Second Miss might have had a reason. I unintentionally overheard her on the phone saying that her foster mother was ill and that the medical expenses would require hundreds of thousands."
"Who?" Charlotte Chester asked back.
"The Second Miss's foster mother." Amelia Miller's voice grew smaller.
Mia Ginger looked at her and fell silent.
"Is she ill?" Aiden Jiang's expression shifted, and, concerned about the presence of Bob Ginger and Zuri Ginger, he spoke gently, "Why didn't you say anything about such a big issue? We could have gone to see her."
"Didn't you know?" Mia Ginger asked with a smile.
Aiden Jiang looked stunned.
Of course, he knew.
He was someone who would not tolerate half-truths. When Camilia Davis gave information about Mia Ginger, he wanted to investigate thoroughly.
Knowing that Camilia Davis did it deliberately, he had initially planned to send her to the police.
It was because Camilia Davis fully admitted and spoke tearfully about her cancer situation that he considered Mia Ginger and held back.
Mia Ginger knew about the abduction incident; he thought she must have hated Camilia Davis deeply.
Still tangled with that side?
Aiden Jiang didn't speak for a moment.
"So you're admitting it?" Charlotte Chester looked at her in disbelief, "Just to raise money for her medical expenses? Took my bracelet?"
"No." Mia Ginger said solemnly, "I didn't take it, and I didn't enter your room today."
"Bring me the bag for a look." Charlotte Chester's face turned cold.
"Mom," Zuri Ginger quickly tugged at her arm, soothing her, "let it go. A bracelet isn't a big deal. If you like, I'll buy you another one. I also heard about the aunt over there from Marianne, who said it's already cervical cancer in the late stage, so pitiful. Besides, it's not appropriate for you to go through Mia's bag."
"The Jackson family knows?" Charlotte Chester was distracted for a moment.
"I don't know who Marianne heard it from," Zuri Ginger forced a smile, "and she said cervical cancer isn't a clean disease. You know her; she's blunt and impulsive. She makes a mountain out of a molehill."
Thinking of Marianne Jackson, she couldn't help but think of the fight in the mall last time. Charlotte Chester was so angry that her chest ached, and her voice turned completely cold, reaching out to Mia Ginger, "Bring me the bag!"
What do you think?
