The Third Return of the Necrotic Magic Swordsman

Chapter 15: A New Victory

While Evan was preoccupied with locating his adversary and practicing his dagger moves, he was unaware that his opponent was also observing him, his emotional state far from stable.

“What am I going to do now? Looking at this guy, I’m certain he’s one of those ALT account users who deleted their account to get better elements, and now he’s back to bully the lower-level players,” the man muttered, fear evident in his voice. His win-loss record was poor—32 wins and 76 losses. He was below average, barely above a newbie even after six months of playing. He hadn’t won a single ranked match and was stuck at level 6.

Today, luck had betrayed him, and he found himself up against a pro ALT account player. “What am I going to do now?” he lamented, convinced it was his fate to lose.

Desperate for a draw, he observed Evan’s movements, the way he roamed the area searching for him like a predator hunting prey with his dagger in hand. He knew that if Evan landed a single hit, it would be the end of him.

“Please, God, let me get through this match,” the player whispered, his palms sweaty.

As the timer wound down to just thirty seconds, Evan’s character began to move erratically, brandishing the dagger, a threatening display. But to his opponent, it was a signal of aggression. Evan, however, was actually expressing his joy. With only seconds left, he would soon have the chance to select equipment to ensure his safety.

When time expired, both players were teleported back to the starting area. Evan immediately spent his points from the first match to purchase weapons and armor.

He donned his new gear quickly, ready for the next confrontation. Meanwhile, his opponent was trying to decide whether to escape the round but ultimately chose to take a chance and confront Evan, thinking his dagger would be his downfall. Selling off his other items, he bought a rifle and extra ammo, convinced he had the advantage.

With cautious steps, he advanced, watching for Evan. However, when he spotted him, Evan was no longer the dagger-wielding player he’d seen before; now he was fully armored and seemed determined to engage in a lethal battle.

Unfazed, the opponent prepared to launch a stealth attack, positioning himself carefully. Every movement now filled him with fear. A single mistake could cost him the match. He took aim, but his shot missed Evan by mere inches, and the target seemed to move in response, but he couldn’t pinpoint the source of the shot.

Alerted by his friend’s shout, Evan finally spotted his adversary, perched atop a damaged building, rifle in hand. A surge of excitement filled Evan as he anticipated the showdown, but his inexperience showed. His first few shots went wide, only grazing the opponent’s health by a small amount.

The opponent, stunned by the hit, reacted swiftly, retreating to regroup. Evan pursued, but in doing so, he fell into a trap, and his health dropped by forty percent. Surprised by the move, Evan adjusted his strategy and began moving more carefully, unsure if further traps lay in wait.

Evan’s perseverance paid off when he cornered his opponent in a roofless building. Deciding to test out a newly acquired skill, Evan drew the sword his friend had recommended, realizing that one well-placed strike could eliminate over half of the opponent’s health.

The catch, of course, was getting close enough to land the hit. Evan moved in cautiously, but his opponent was prepared. Gunfire rang out, striking Evan and reducing his health to just thirty-seven points.

Now in range, Evan activated his skill. Shadows enveloped his character, allowing him to move like a wraith. He closed the distance and struck with his sword, landing a devastating blow. His opponent, <Little Hero>, collapsed and disintegrated in a matter of moments.

Stunned, <Little Hero> realized his mistake. His opponent’s superior element had allowed him to outmaneuver him. Within five seconds, he pressed the surrender button and left the match.

The trio, watching from the sidelines, fell silent as Evan was declared the victor. <Little Hero> had surrendered, and Evan’s first win was in the books.

Although the victory had been easy, Evan didn’t feel proud. It hadn’t been an impressive feat, and he knew that if he told anyone, no one would believe how effortless it had been. It hadn’t showcased his real potential as a player, and he felt he had missed an opportunity to win in a more meaningful way.

But there would be more chances, and this was just the beginning of his journey in the gaming world.

As he continued to play, he learned that his friends attended the same high school he was about to enroll in, and it thrilled them. His integration into the school would be much easier, but little did he know that the events to come would change his life in ways he couldn’t have anticipated.

For now, the story continued, and we waited as time would reveal what came next in his life and future.
