The Third Return of the Necrotic Magic Armiger

Chapter 122: A Day of Rest and Stats

[15th Everdusk, 2103] — DC-23 City, Dyna Crest Country, Evan’s Apartment

The next morning arrived quietly.

Evan was still sprawled on his bed, fully clothed from the day before. His phone buzzed with incoming messages, the sound causing his eyelids to twitch as sunlight streamed through the windows and fell on his face.

"Ughhh… what time is it?" he muttered groggily.

Reaching over, he grabbed his phone and squinted at the screen. Dozens of messages from classmates blinked on the interface, all urging him to join a dungeon run. Even Lucas had tried calling him multiple times.

“…Why are they trying to wake me up for a hunt…?” His voice trailed off as his eyes finally landed on the time.

It was already afternoon.

"...Huh? I thought they were texting me in the morning?"

He sighed, tossing the phone aside as he sat up on his bed. His body creaked and cracked from the previous day's exertions, each movement a subtle reminder of the battles he'd faced. Stretching to relieve the tension, he dragged himself toward the bathroom.

Some time later, freshly showered and marginally more awake, Evan returned and checked his phone again. With nothing urgent pending, he headed to the kitchen and took out some meat he'd bought the day before. He wasn’t a chef, but he did his best to whip up a few edible dishes. Nothing fancy—just simple food, cooked properly and not burnt.

After finishing his meal, Evan returned to the bed and sat cross-legged.

“…Right. My stats.”

He called out his system screen.

"Hmm… looks like my stat development phase has finally started. I've even got my first Red Stats," Evan muttered to himself.

He recalled the stat color hierarchy:
Common → Red → Orange → Yellow → Green → Blue → Indigo → Violet
Each tier was 100 times the previous. A Red Stat required 100 Common points.

"In my past lives, I only reached my first Red Stat around Level 50. But now... not even Level 25, and I'm already past that threshold."

He closed the status screen and opened his financial summary.

“…Damn.” His eyes widened. “Yesterday I had less than 10,000 CP… Now I’m close to 300,000?”

He nodded, feeling satisfied. The dungeon run from the day before had paid off immensely.

With that, an idea sparked in his mind.

He opened his phone store, browsed through the catalogue, and made a few expensive purchases—including a full desktop setup. Quick delivery was costly, but he didn’t care. He even sent extra rent in advance to his landlord to ensure uninterrupted peace.

"Yeah, looks like that money won’t last long after all…" he sighed.

Settling onto the floor, he held out his hand, trying to perform a technique.

Nothing.

He repeated the attempt a few times, with no results. But finally, something clicked.

A small flame formed above his palm, spinning slowly.

However, it soon lost stability and fell toward the floor.

“Yikes!” Evan quickly brushed the flame away.

He chuckled. “Fire and Earth… I can just barely manage. But Lightning and Ice still aren’t happening yet.”

Ding-Dong!

Just as he was about to stand, the doorbell rang.

Evan walked over and opened the door to find a delivery team standing with boxes.

“Sir, we’re here to deliver and install your order,” one of them said.

He nodded and led them inside, pointing out the setup location.

Fifteen minutes later, everything was installed neatly. Once the delivery team left, Evan sat down in front of the monitor.

The screen came to life with a soft hum.

“Alright… let’s dive into the web.”

He clicked the start button.
