Chapter 191: Chapter 190 Suspicion
Liang Xin wrapped the medicine residue in a handkerchief, returned to his room, placed it into a jar, and affixed the date.
In the following days, he collected the residues in the same manner and kept meticulous records.
He Ying grew suspicious of the medicine provided by Divine Doctor Hong Zhao and stopped drinking it.
Each time it was time to take the medicine, he would come up with various excuses to distract Sang Yan and dispose of it.
When Sang Yan wanted to find Hong Zhao, He Ying would feign distress to dissuade her from seeking out the Divine Doctor.
Back and forth it went.
Sang Yan began to sense something was amiss, “Xinyuan, do you dislike Divine Doctor Hong Zhao?”
He Ying glanced at her, laughing, “Of course, I don’t like her.”
“Why not?”
Sang Yan didn’t understand; she felt that Hong Zhao was beautiful and talented, a doctor with a benevolent heart— a woman better than any other.
“How could I be fond of another when I am already wed?”
He Ying deliberately twisted her words.
Hearing this, Sang Yan looked helpless, “What I mean is, do you still think there’s something wrong with her?”
She didn’t know that He Ying had been pouring away the medicine each time, only feeling that he was purposely preventing her from making contact with Hong Zhao.
What if Hong Zhao really had an issue?
She didn’t dare to contemplate that possibility.
These days, she really treated Hong Zhao like an older sister, and Hong Zhao taught her quite a bit as well.
They were both teacher and friend, close as sisters!
Especially since she had insisted on keeping Hong Zhao at the State Mansion to detoxify He Ying.
If Hong Zhao really had a problem, then she was also partly to blame for plotting against He Ying.
He Ying couldn’t bear to see her looking so worried, and with a gentle stroke of his fingertips across her forehead, he softly said, “Ah Yan, don’t overthink it. No matter what happens, I won’t blame you.”
What do you think?
