The Runic Alchemist

Chapter 600: A Third Ranker

The changes in himself he could feel compared to when he had laid down on this bed and now were astronomical in any sense possible. Damian felt like his body would burst with raw power. Hundreds of stat points gained in just a few seconds was simply too overwhelming. That was beyond the fact that he was usually given his earned stat points to distribute as he pleased—these were just the effect from the massive leap in levels.

Damian did not waste a second and picked up the status tool. However, just as he was about to open it, Damian sensed something he never had before—the status tool seemed to have a very tiny, minuscule thread of mana extending into the environment. It was so thin he had to focus really hard to get a good sense of it.

His mana sense and everything had upgraded—without that, he would have never noticed it.

So it does work on mana—it was so small that even his sharp senses could never have picked it up. Damian looked away from the status tool and out the window. The sky.. Was much brighter. He could.. Watch far, even the smallest things the pigmen were doing in their stone houses.

And that was not the end—the giant walls were stopping his vision, but he was curious to see just how far he could see without any obstacles.

For now, Damian opened his status:

Level 278, not bad. Killing Sun God did not boost the level as much as he expected. But they were levels at a third-ranker level—Worldscribe and others had spent centuries to level to their limit. Being Godless, he could potentially count it as reaching level 350+. The 350 extra stat points were just insane.

There were some new job-related skills—he had not leveled other skills so they stayed as they were:

[Runic Body Engraving: Engrave up to five complete runic circles directly onto the body, allowing instant activation without chant or drawn runes. Cooldowns for each engraved spell. Circles must be chosen outside combat.]

[Runebreak Ascension: Temporarily doubles strength, defense, and agility while allowing all engraved runic circles to activate at once without any focus. After 30 seconds, suffer Runeburn—losing 30% max mana and disabling engraved circles for 20 seconds.]

[Dust to Iron: Transmute basic materials like dirt, sand, or ash into low-quality iron. Process is slow and creates impure iron, suitable for basic tools or construction.]

[Essence Sight: Senses the presence of metals, minerals, and their transmutable essence within materials. Limited range and clarity, focusing only on elemental properties.]

Damian was surprised to see the Dust to Iron skill description. A real transmutation skill. There were still limits, but just being able to create metal out of nothing but dirt was a skill worth its weight in gold. Combined with his Archscript Sovereign skill, he could now create runic weapons and tools at any time and anywhere.

Damian activated Essence Sight to see what it did, and suddenly he felt a connection to every metal present in the room—even brass and copper, not just iron and steel. It was exhilarating to feel their properties, their shapes, their.. Potential to transform?

Damian got up from the bed, a bit too excited, as his footprints formed under his feet with the sheer power and weight he had suddenly gained-he would have to learn to control this. Damian felt like he could make his whole body a center of mana, and if he pushed.. Damian's feet left the floor. He was in midair! He could fly! Without any spells at that. This felt amazing.

But he was distracted from what he was really doing. Damian flew near the brass apparatus and then picked up a cold iron knife placed upon a table near the basket of colorful fruits. The iron.. The structure of it. And then he felt brass.. He could..

Without even knowing what he was doing, Damian used over hundreds of thin, even thinner-than-hair mana threads and attacked the brass at its fundamental base structure—no, he had to go even thinner. And Damian did so, making the mana threads thinner and thinner till even he, with his enhanced third-ranker senses, could barely sense it.

Okay. There it was. He could reach inside. As if by some spell, the brass started to change color slowly—by the time Damian changed a few centimeters of the apparatus, he felt like he was about to fall; all his mana was used up.

Damian immediately activated his Sacrum Mana Cubes and filled himself with boundless mana—it just did not end. More and more—he could hold so much mana now! Holy shit, it felt like he was burning all over his body but it was just mana seeping into each and every cell of his instead of just storing near his core.

Damian stopped what he was doing and took a good look at the brass apparatus that now had a bit of iron at the edge. He could do it! He could change metal at a fundamental level! This was.. Devastatingly more powerful than Damian had ever imagined it to be.

This Essence Sight was the biggest plus point of this job—it was even better than just a simple yet broken ability to transform dirt into iron.

Just as he was about to close the status tool, a sudden chime rang in his mind.

Another screen appeared on top of his status—this time, a pop-up option.
