Chapter 1416 Old Secrets (2)
Vraegar frowned, the expression on his draconic face was frightening, "Andar, I know your Tower would be something spectacular, but I don't think it should be able to hold back the Memory of an Old One. You don't need to lose more than you already have just to save me; I know how expensive a Magus Tower is; I won't be able to repay you for millennia."
"You are right on both fronts. My Tower is indeed spectacular, and it cannot hold back this Old One, not for long anyway, but it was never meant to. Before entering that Realm, I figured out that the Old One would be able to easily lock down space to prevent us from leaving, so I placed my Tower outside the realm while bringing part of it with me inside. In essence, I created a funnel through the blockade, and we can bypass the space lock without contesting the Old One in might. Do not worry about the cost of repairs; if we survive, I am sure that our father will reward me with greater bounties for saving your scaly hide."
Andar swiped his hands and the walls around them rippled to show the scene of the outside world. The moment the Tower had swallowed them, it had slipped outside the dimension of Drakul, and they were moving through the unnamed Dimension of Speed that Andar had discovered, heading towards Rowan.
The passage they traveled in was not wide, they were surrounded by green wispy light that extended for as far as their senses could perceive, and although they could not see the entirety of the Tower they were traveling in, there was no sight of Drakul.
"Did we lose him? Is it possible that he cannot enter this place?" Staff looked around, her eyes darting all over, before looking towards Andar, who had the greatest sensory ability among them while inside his tower, he was busy with a complex series of runes that materialized in midair around him and did not answer her questions for a while until Staff bumped him again and he replied distractedly,
"Um, no, we did not lose him, you cannot see him outside because he is already inside the Tower with us. Nivi and I are keeping him busy, but it's only a matter of time until he reaches us… at least, that's what he thinks."
"Playing with a Memory of an Old One is foolish Andar. If he is here," Vraegar said, "then we need to run, the defenses you have cannot hold him."
Andar smirked, a light began to glow in his silver eyes, "Relax, I know my defenses would not be able to keep him out, but for him to find us would not be that easy. The greatest advantage of a Mage, when they reach the fifth-dimensional level is their Magus Tower. An average Mage can hold maybe three fifth-dimensional spaces in their Tower, most would only be able to hold one, a great genius can hold seven fifth-dimensional spaces in their Tower, a supreme genius, someone that has been only seen in the Magus Supreme World only three times, can hold nine fifth-dimensional spaces in their Tower… I have six hundred."
"What the…" Vraegar looked at Andar speechless, his eyes nearly bulging out from his skull, and the Magus grinned at the stupefied dragon, "After spending all that time with your father, I thought you understood the meaning of having a solid foundation. You are about to jump into the sixth dimension so quickly when there is still so much power to excavate with the great bloodline flowing inside our bodies. You surprised me Vraegar, after knowing someone as great as our father, how could great or supreme be enough? You have remained in a single dimension from the fourth, fighting against a single variant of immortals, and your sight has been dimmed by their mediocrity. Vraegar we are the children of Rowan! You should know what this means."
Staff rolled her eyes at his words, she had hidden her astonishment better than Vraegar, there was a time when she thought she and Andar were equal, but with this single reveal he had thrown all of that out of the window, and she knew she needed to step up or she would be left behind, yet she did not want to give him the satisfaction of seeing her surprise,
"There is a word called over-preparing, and I don't think it does you justice. Six hundred-fifth dimensional realms in your Tower?! That is insane even for you, how would you ever reach the sixth carrying all that weight? You will be the strongest fifth-dimensional immortal, but you will never reach the sixth."
"I used to think that would be the case," Andar smiled. "And then I saw the heart of my father, and I knew that I was still thinking too small. After seeing what is capable of, you dare to call me the strongest fifth-dimensional immortal?" Vraegar tried and failed multiple times to talk, and then he went to the side and sulked; he had wanted to push toward the sixth dimension after they escaped from the hands of Drakul, but once more, he had realized how much he had underestimated what he should be capable of. How many times would he have to fail for this trap of arrogance before he learned? Technically, he should have an equal potential with Andar; how could the difference between them be so vast?
Staff seemed to have come to a realization,
"Wait with six hundred dimensions inside your Tower, which is a number that I don't want to even think about, that should just be enough weight to suppress this Memory of the Old One, is it not?"
Andar nodded, "Yeah, but I can't kill him, and to properly suppress him, I must bring him to the lowest level, but he is being careful in his movements and he is not heading toward where I need him," turning to Vraegar, Andar's eyes lit up, "We need a bait to draw him lower. Hey, you up for another ride?"
What do you think?
