Chapter 519: Chapter 428, The Untouched Armory
Before the headquarters’ people arrived, the Steward disappeared.
It seemed that the matter with the Demon’s Hand Pirate Group had some connection to this Steward.
If it was an act of pirate revenge, more likely it would be directed towards the Vice-executive who went together to the Pirate Village or an altercation with the entire local association.
Only the Steward vanished without a sound.
The greater possibility was that he had run off.
Even if unrelated to the Hand of the Demon, there was still an association with pirates.
“Xi Ligui and the others are not in any danger, are they?” Wu Heng tightened his arm.
Andre Willow curled into the embrace, “No, I heard they just assisted a bit and then came back.”
“Mm, as long as they are safe.” Wu Heng withdrew his hand and stood up to pull up Andre Willow’s nightgown.
The little fox’s cheeks reddened as she raised her arms to allow it to be slipped off with ease.
Revealing her fair and smooth body.
Andre Willow hugged her arms, her voice soft and delicate, “Let’s go back to the room, Master.”
Wu Heng gave Mini a wink and she, with a hehe and a smile, pounced toward the little fox, wrapping her arms around the other, “Come to master quickly.”
Andre Willow turned all red, held down by the other, and didn’t struggle, “It’s so embarrassing here.”
“What’s there to be embarrassed about? We’re in our own home.”
Mini followed suit, “Exactly, wherever master says is the place.”
Andre Willow turned her head away and ceased to speak.
Wu Heng simply stripped off his clothes, and gently pressed upon the two.
Mini frowned, “Master, you’ve got the wrong person.”
“You first.”
“Really, master,” Mini mumbled, her body going limp as she collapsed on top of the fox woman.
…
The next day, Wu Heng got up on time.
He first went to the tavern by the association’s entrance to reserve some food, then on the way to the tavern, he stopped by the general store to buy some Tamed Beast fodder.
The fodder came in several varieties.
Some even included bits of magical beast meat, appearing even better than human food.
After purchasing two kinds, he stored them in the Space Ring.
He then went straight to ‘Green Parrot’ tavern.
In the early morning, the tavern had not yet opened for business, and the bartenders were absent.
Philippa, with her dirty braids completely undone, was wiping the tables on the first floor.
Seeing Wu Heng come in, she immediately threw the rag to the floor, “Hurry up and leave; this place is unbearable.”
Millicent came out from the back, hands full of various prepared foods, pulling at her hand and giving several warnings.
Philippa packed up the stuff, “Alright, I’ll come back after a while.”
Millicent glanced at Wu Heng waiting at the door and said no more, simply nodding and watching the two leave.
Leaving the city.
Summoning the Phantom Train, heading to Scorpion Pincer Island.
Upon arriving at the island.
Three ships were still moored at the port, and near the shore, there were still a few campfires that hadn’t burned out.
It looked like last night, the Iron Barrel Pirate Group had lit bonfires on the beach.
Wu Heng took out all the things he had bought.
After Philippa put them away, she looked at him, “When will you come to pick me up next time?”
“When you miss your mother again, I’ll come take you to her.”
“My mom scolded me last night.”
“What did she scold you for?”
“She told me not to act like a lunatic. Do I look like a lunatic?” Philippa straightened her captain’s hat.
“Er… not really.”
“See, I knew it, I’m just lively… that stupid woman understands nothing,” Philippa said.
Wu Heng glanced at the distant pirate ships and then said, “Alright, go back now, remember your responsibilities, and don’t just focus on having fun.”
“Got it.”
Philippa waved her hand and headed off into the distance.
As she approached the fleet, the Green Parrot flew back, perching on her shoulder.
Philippa went over to the campfire, started throwing punches and kicks at the drunken men scattered on the ground, and shouted for everyone to gather and get on the ship.
The pirates collected their belongings, bustling about for a while.
Then they set sail on the pirate ships, heading off into the distance.
Wu Heng also called for the Phantom Train and returned to Gold and Silver Island.
…
Back to Gold and Silver Island.
Wu Heng went straight to the Association.
After sitting in the office study and yawning twice, he went out and headed to Xi Ligui’s study.
Gently knocking on the door, he entered upon receiving a response.
Xi Ligui, sitting behind the desk, smiled as he came in, “I was wondering where you were when you didn’t show up upon your return!”
Wu Heng sat down on the sofa to the side, “When did you get back?”
“Yesterday noon. It was just to accompany headquarters to do some investigation; there was nothing much,” Xi Ligui said.
“I heard that the Steward there has gone missing?” Wu Heng asked.
“Right, the Steward was already missing when we arrived. The entire Association was managed by the Vice-executive. The Association conducted a check over there and they will arrange for a new Steward to take over. The missing one will also be investigated later on,” Xi Ligui summarized succinctly.
Even the Steward had something to do with pirates.
It was not surprising to think that a village had been taken over by pirates.
Wu Heng continued, “The headquarters must be taking this matter very seriously, right?”
Xi Ligui stood up, poured two cups of tea, and handed one over, “The branch Associations in coastal cities will all be undergoing checks, especially since the ‘Kalemah’ incident was suspected to involve collusion with pirates. In any case, it’s pretty serious. People will be replaced everywhere.”
“That’s for the best,” Wu Heng nodded.
Xi Ligui leaned her round hips against the edge of the desk behind her, looking at him, “How did the investigation into the Old Barrel go? I just got back and didn’t have the chance to ask.”
When Imilo assigned the tasks.
Xi Ligui was responsible for the affairs in Lopaz City, while Wu Heng was tasked with investigating the Old Barrel Tavern.
“The murderer has been found. It was a thug secretly raised by the Sea Dog Gang, a warlock. Now, the Old Barrel people have wiped out the Sea Dog Gang, and their gang’s dwelling has been razed,” Wu Heng narrated.
“The murderer? You mean ‘Mackintosh’ is dead?” Xi Ligui stopped in her tea-drinking motion.
When she left, it was reported that ‘Mackintosh’ was attacked and injured.
Now he was dead?
“Dead. He was already cold when I got there.”
Xi Ligui took a long time to react.
A female Boss who had controlled the port for so many years, just like that, died at the hands of a new gang’s thug.
Unbelievable, yet it felt like a pity.
Even though Xi Ligui looked down on gangs and felt they were a hidden danger to a city.
Still, she had to admit that the Old Barrel managed by Mackintosh was not too bad.
It wasn’t simple for a woman to manage so many people by just her wits.
And yet, she had died just like that.
“Why did she die? Normal methods shouldn’t have been able to kill her, right?”
Wu Heng, looking at her face filled with confusion and surprise, said, “The Old Barrel said it was snake venom, but due to the Bermola tribe’s customs, no autopsy was conducted. However, the island’s Guard Team did a life characteristics check and confirmed that the deceased was indeed ‘Mackintosh’.”
“Sigh! A prophet, to die in her own jurisdiction,” Xi Ligui sighed.
“Yeah.”
“Lately, there has been a rush to assemble a Guard Team on the island; things seem a bit chaotic. Be careful out there,” Xi Ligui cautioned.
“Mhm.”
After a brief chat, Wu Heng didn’t stay much longer.
Xi Ligui went to deliver documents, while Wu Heng sat in his study for a while.
He also left the Association, called for a carriage, and returned to his residence.
…
After getting home, he greeted Mini.
He went straight to Zombie World.
Coming out from the bedroom.
The entire waiting room hall had already gathered quite a number of survivors.
Moreover, the assortment of tools and equipment had become more complete.
It seemed that the train had brought in new supplies.
No sooner had he gone downstairs than Qi Hancai received the news and came over.
He said, “We found a local map, also checked it on the radio with the shelter here.”
A long scroll map was unrolled, revealing the buildings and routes within ‘Anhui City’.
Wu Heng helped hold one side while Qi Hancai pointed to two locations, “This is the city’s commercial street. We can be sure there are lots of gold shops and shopping centers where we can replenish our supplies. This area is the military zone. By taking it over, we can get the corresponding ammunition and equipment.”
The military zone?
Wu Heng asked, “Is there no military market here?”
“No, it’s possible that they did not take too many weapons with them when they left, nor did they set up any market.”
Which meant.
There was an untouched armory here.
What do you think?
