Chapter 309
Cherry tilted her head as her eyes met Cecil’s.
Her silky cherry-colored hair shimmered under the light, and her golden eyes—like a full moon in the night sky—were as small and pretty as sugar stars.
Now that he was looking properly, he noticed details he hadn't before.
Cecil had never seen a woman as lovely as Cherry.
“Are you all right?”
Cherry stepped closer, peering at his face with concern. She was far too close.
Cecil’s face burned.
“…Ha.”
The man in the police uniform let out a sigh, staring at Cecil as if he were beyond help.
Cherry, unaware of what was happening, tilted her head again.
“You look unwell. Let’s get you to a room. You must be tired from the long journey.”
At her words, the woman who appeared to be a maid led Cecil to his room.
“S-Sir Theodore…?”
“I checked his wound. Sir Ethan administered the right treatment, so he should be safe from the virus. We just need to treat the injury itself.”
“That’s impossible. That thing pierced right through his abdomen. And yet, he wasn’t infected…?”
So the syringe the police officer had injected Theodore with had really been a cure?
“If you don’t believe me, we can keep him in the infirmary. Not like we’re going to be the ones watching him. Right?”
The red-haired man, who looked exhausted, turned to Cherry for confirmation as he answered Cecil’s doubts.
Cherry nodded.
“Let’s do as Ezra says. You’re free to come and go as you please, Your Highness.”
She deliberately used the title in a playful tone, smiling at him.
What do you think?
