It had already been over three months since Cherry had taken Ethan and Nox down to the South. Ezra had only recently heard about the situation and let out a dumbfounded chuckle.

He checked the calendar. They had left in the spring, and now it was already autumn, yet they still hadn’t returned. Judging by the southern newspapers, it seemed they were enjoying an incredibly blissful honeymoon, to the point where even Ezra—who had never been the jealous type—was starting to feel a little envious.

And as if on cue, some good news reached Ezra’s ears. Apparently, Theodore had also read the same southern newspaper, and now, he had announced that he was heading south—with Aurora in tow.

If Ethan and Cherry were going to be all lovey-dovey and rub salt in his wounds, they might as well do it where he could see them. At this rate, even Nox, who was probably suffering in the South, was starting to seem enviable.

Ezra couldn't stand how dull Happy House felt without Cherry around.
