The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1521: Kei Xun (1)

Rex, still in his Werewolf form, stood up and faced this figure of sunlight without fear.

He had beaten the Singing Lady, but things kept happening.

Once he met the figure's eyes directly, something churned deep inside his core.

A faint, insistent pull that churned like smoke caught in a sealed chamber.

It was not fear, nor rage—but something far stranger… hungrier—clawing at his chest, coiled around his spine, and whispered with no voice. He could feel the pull beckoning him to strike her, to tear her apart and devour her.

An urge that didn't come from instinct or reason.

As though some hidden part of him that he never knew existed had suddenly awakened.

As if killing this figure was his life goal.

Rex has faced people, monsters, and even Gods, hated all of them to his very core.

But he had never felt this unbearable compulsion—this magnetic pull that made his breath falter. However, underneath all of that, he felt a sense of familiarity. It almost felt like there was a bond between him and this figure.

A family in some sort of magical way.

"To whom am I talking…?"

Suddenly, the figure asked.

She descended onto the ground, gliding to be exact, and made a light landing.

Her feet touched the ground without making a sound, delicately.

'Did she know?' Rex frowned in surprise before he answered, "What do you mean?"

"What about your divinity? How many Gods have you killed so far? Two?" She ignored Rex's remarks and continued. But she frowned when Rex remained silent, "One? None…? Hmm—I see, so you haven't even learned how to stand."

Rex was utterly confused.

He didn't understand what she was talking about at all.

But as she stepped closer, he could feel the desire to tear her apart grow inside.

"Do you feel it too…? Do you also feel the urge to kill me?" Seeing the struggle behind Rex's face, the figure asked with a stern voice, holding back emotions. Then, she tilted her head, studying Rex closely, "Do you… Do you even know what this sensation was?"

As she awaited Rex's answer, she turned to the Singing Lady.

Out of anger and humiliation, she was gathering her voidal energy.

She concentrated all of it into her Soul Artifact, charging it and turning it into a bomb.

Instead of accepting defeat, she was going to drag Rex down with her.

Just then, the Singing Lady was encased in a small, translucent bubble.

It was the woman of sunlight, she did this without even moving a muscle.

Boom!

Then, a few seconds later, a vicious gush of wind brushed against them as the Singing Lady exploded inside the bubble—the effect from her sacrifice should have decimated the whole area, flattening the entire place, but the bubble rendered her attempt to nothing but a small, muffled booming sound.

She died, and yet, she didn't cause any damage, confined by the bubble of light.

Now, there was nothing of her but mangled flesh.

The Singing Lady who decimated the Mahkam Ruin was killed like a fly.

It showed how strong this figure was.

Realizing this, Rex's face darkened, "You took my prey…"

"I got rid of her for you. Also, she might disturb our chat," She answered dismissively. "So, you haven't killed a God—and you don't know anything about the stages. At least, tell me this, how long have you been in this race?"

Finding that Rex was still silent, the figure sighed.

"Seems like I was talking to the wrong person. Bring the other one out," She finally said.

Although it might sound like a request, it wasn't—it was a command.

Refusing to do that, Rex wanted to attack her, but a beam of sunlight already reached him, and almost instantly, his eyes rolled back. Once his eyes rolled back to their original place, his eyes regained their normal crimson shade.

Gone is the molten lava color.

Once he recovered, he instantly gasped for breath and panted heavily.

Rex reached for his head, which was throbbing hard.

What happened? Did I pass out…?

Earlier, he was running towards the Mahkam Ruin, fighting back the urges to fall to his knees.

But after that, he couldn't remember anything.

He couldn't even remember how he got here, further away from the Mahkam Ruin.

Upon realizing that he must've passed out, his eyes instantly shot open.

No… I passed out! The Chain Sudden Quest!

Just as Rex was about to check, he stopped when he noticed the figure standing in front of him.

"Who are you…?" He asked in disbelief.

"I'm the Great Saintess of the Sun Ecclesia Church," The figure of sunlight answered. "But since you're also a Scion of the Vertex—you don't need to call me that, you can call me by my real name. Kei Xun, my real name is Kei Xun."

Almost instantly, Rex's eyes shot open.

Judging by the amount of power this woman was exuding, Rex expected her to be someone outstanding. But this figure, Kei Xun, wasn't only someone outstanding. She was none other than the Saintess of Purity.

She was the one who owned the Priestesses of Purity, the one behind Priestess Viora.

And she was also a Scion.

Rex wanted to finish his business in the Spirit Realm—and leave before he met any of the Scions, but it seemed crossing one of them was inevitable. As he thought of that, the weird, murderous feeling that beckoned him to kill Kei Xun appeared again.

However, he remained rooted in his spot, fighting back the urge.

Being a Werewolf, he has learned how to regulate his urges, especially killing urges.

Holding back wasn't a problem for him.

"My name is Rex Silverstar," Rex answered, attempting to keep the peace—between them since, from the looks of it, Kei Xun has no intention of killing him. If she was, then she was very good at hiding it. "Is there something I did that brought you here?"

"Other than forcing one of my priestesses to fight, you did nothing wrong." Kei Xun replied.

Upon hearing this, Rex frowned.

It wasn't his fault—Viora basically decided to follow him willingly, he didn't force her to fight.

Of course, normally, this was the part where he apologized.

But I have a feeling that if I do apologize, things would get messier. I'll be seen as weak.

Apologizing was never an option—that is the level where Rex at right now, or else the other side would take it as a sign of weakness. He needs to settle this without apologizing. Of course, he would prepare to use his Invincible II item.

But there doesn't seem to be a need for that.

Like he thought initially, Kei Xun wasn't here to kill him.

"It's not my fault when your priestess begged me to come," Rex answered firmly.

Kei Xun smiled faintly as her form gradually dimmed, and a woman with the same exact outfit as Viora emerged. Other than a few golden ornaments and the sparkling material of the outfit itself, she wore the same as Viora.

"Child…" She whispered. "How long have you been in this race?"

"Barely a year," Rex answered, knowing exactly what she was talking about. "It's not that long."

He assumed that the moment the System chose him was also the moment he became a Scion, a candidate for Invincibility. As he said that, a thought came to mind. Wait… If I'm chosen by the System and become a Scion, then what about her? Does she also have the System?

"Good," Kei Xun answered. "You should forfeit while you still have the chance."

"Forfeit…?" Rex frowned.

Even if he wanted to, there's no way he could do that—the System wouldn't allow it.

<Notice: If the user forfeits, the System will shut down and strip the user of everything.>

See? Like I expected, I can't forfeit.

Kei Xun saw the answer written all over Rex's face and approached.

She stood right in front of Rex and stared into his eyes.

"You think you're special? That you're different? That you're chosen?" She chuckled, a self-ridiculing one rather than a disdainful one. "So was I… So were the others… But their bones paved the road to the Highseat of Invincibility. Don't be like us, forfeit while you're still… you."

Hearing Kei Xun speak like this made Rex worried and angry at the same time.

He was worried on what does she mean by still having time, and angry—that she was saying this as if she was doing this for his own good, "You don't even know who I am other than the fact I'm a Scion, how could you tell I can't reach Invincibility?"

"I don't need to know," Kei Xun shook her head. "It doesn't matter."

Before Rex could answer, Kei Xun stepped closer.

Now, she was only a finger away from Rex, staring at him with watery eyes.

"Promise me that you would forfeit," She suddenly said.

Upon hearing this, Rex's brows dipped.

"I can't promise you that, I don't have a choice," He answered. "It's not that simple."

"Yes, you have…" Kei Xun continued firmly—as she slowly reached her hands forward. "And yes, it is that simple. All you need to do is forfeit, announce that you abandon the race, and you will be free."

Rex didn't need to move—he couldn't sense any malicious intent from her.

It seemed she was really telling this for his own good.

Then, she embraced Rex's face, wiping the blood from his face as if she were a mother who was wiping dirt from her son, "You don't need to feel the sheer pain of this long, hazardous, and lonely road. You can still walk away and retain everything you have without the need for too much pain. In the future, in a hundred years or so—you will understand what I'm offering and be thankful for your past self for making the right choice."

Even though this situation was bizarre and confusing, Rex wasn't going to agree to this.

He needed to continue on this path so that he would be able to protect the others.

Power isn't the answer to everything, but it was what he needed the most right now.

"I appreciate your warning," Rex said, reaching to grab her hands and push them away from his face. "But I really don't have a choice. I don't know who you are—and what happened to you, but I've chosen to walk this road. And living… that's not what I'm aiming for."

As he said that, he frowned when he couldn't push Kei Xun's hands.

No matter how much strength he put, he couldn't budge her at all.

It was clear that the gap between them was wide.

Perhaps Kei Xux had similar strength to the Spirit Emperor or even higher.

She was a Scion—her strength must be extraordinary.

Just then, as Rex watched, a single tear drizzled down Kei Xun's cheek—his eyes widened in surprise.

Slash!

"Hmm?!"

Rex sucked in a cold breath when his remaining arm got severed.

Then, his eyes saw a deep gash crossing his abdomen horizontally, and blood spilled everywhere.

He grunted and fell to one knee, hissing in pain.

It happened so fast, faster than his eyes could perceive.

Kei Xun was able to sever his remaining arm and cut his abdomen in a fraction of a second.

Even his golden exoskeleton was nothing in front of her power.

"Do you have any idea how strong the other Scions were?" Kei Xun said as she began circling Rex with slow and steady steps. Gone was her sympathetic face, replaced by a cold one. "Imagine…All of them have the same level of talent and sheer will as you, but are a thousand, five thousand, or even ten thousand years older than you."

"Can your mind even reach that level of power? She asked incredulously. "The raw… power they had?"

Rex didn't answer, he focused on healing his arms bit by bit.

He doesn't know exactly how strong the other Scions were, but he was cautious of them.

One thing for certain, they are way above his league.

But hearing how strong they were from Kei Xun's mouth directly, it seemed alien.

A power that he couldn't comprehend at his current self.

"To put in perspective, this body you're seeing, it is not my real body," Kei Xun continued, still circling as she explained. "Yet I could easily overpower you, and do anything I wanted to you. If I'm really here right now, you will be crushed by my presence. But even then, I am nowhere near the strongest among the Scions…"

Assuming Rex didn't believe it, Kei Xun lifted Rex up with her powers.

"Grarghk!"

"I can crush your body bit by bit without you being able to do anything."

Rex's skin was ripped open slowly, torn bit by bit.

But following that, they began to stitch it together again rapidly.

"And if I want to," Kei Xun added. "I can even heal every wound you have, like they were never there."

Rex looked down and saw that his body was being repaired, returning to normal.

As he was placed down again on the ground, Kei Xun tilted her head.

"You see…? Even I'm not the leading figure, so what makes you think you are?"
