Chapter 579 - 579 530 Tongxin Knot_1

Chapter 579: Chapter 530, Tongxin Knot_1 Chapter 579: Chapter 530, Tongxin Knot_1 Daohua took the lantern, looking very pleased, “Sun Changze, you are quite attentive; now I believe what you said before.”

Sun Changze was startled, “What did I say?”

With a smile, Daohua said, “You said you know how to make girls like you. Look, I only glanced at this pair of fish lanterns a few times, and you noticed and even bought them. Tell me, do you often give gifts like this to girls?”

Sun Changze shook his head repeatedly, his hands flailing anxiously, “No, no, I’ve never given gifts to other girls, I’m not attentive, no, I mean, I am not unattentive, what I am is…”

Dong Yuanyao cast a glance at the flustered Sun Changze and continued walking ahead.

Seeing the anxious expression on Sun Changze’s face, Daohua comforted him with a laugh, “Don’t rush, this is a good thing about you, there’s nothing to deny.” Holding up the pair of fish lanterns, she added, “Thank you, I really like them.”

After saying that, she ran off to catch up with Dong Yuanyao.

Xiao Yeyang was somewhat puzzled by Daohua’s behavior. He glanced at Sun Changze, not very pleased with his eager attentiveness, “Don’t misuse your tricks to win a girl’s favor, and don’t use them on the wrong person either.”

Sun Changze’s head drooped like a deflated balloon.

Up ahead, Daohua glanced at Dong Yuanyao and noticed that her mood wasn’t as high as before, feeling somewhat guilty as she looked at the lantern in her hands.

Be it the lantern or the monkey mask, she knew they were all given by Sun Changze for Yuanyao. Yet, after hesitating for a moment, she still intercepted them.

Last time, Sun Changze had blocked a knife for Yuanyao, and ever since then, he had been constantly concerned about her. Women are emotional creatures; with Sun Changze’s attentive gestures, there was a chance he might touch her heart, and she could fall for him.

The gap in their social status was too vast. In this ancient era that valued family lineage, it was impossible for Yuanyao from the Marquis Residence to have any possibility with Sun Changze from the grain transport guild.

The matriarch of the Dong Family was so particular about social status, and even if Lord Dong and Madam Dong loved Yuanyao dearly, they would not allow such a thing to happen.

Once a woman falls into unrequited love, she is prone to get hurt, especially someone like Yuanyao, a teenager whose feelings were just beginning to bloom. While Yuanyao’s feelings for Sun Changze were just starting to differ, Daohua had to nip this bud of thought in the bud.

Looking at Dong Yuanyao, Daohua couldn’t help but think of herself. She glanced at Xiao Yeyang beside her and felt her mood sink as well.

After a while, seeing a ring toss stall on the street, Daohua perked up and pulled Yuanyao along, “Yuanyao, there’s a ring toss over there. Let’s play and see if we can win something nice.”

Seeing that Daohua really wanted to play, Dong Yuanyao, not wanting to dampen her spirits, nodded and followed her.

Each with ten rings in hand, they began tossing with enthusiasm.

Daohua usually had good aim, but this time she couldn’t hook anything. On the other hand, Dong Yuanyao landed every toss perfectly, lifting her spirits that had been down.

“Let’s do it again, Yiyi, I want to compete with you.”

Looking at the pile of prizes Dong Yuanyao had won, Daohua complained, “Aren’t you just bullying me now?”

Dong Yuanyao lifted her chin proudly, “What’s wrong? Are you scared to compete with me?”

Without hesitation, Daohua replied, “Who said I’m scared? I’m just not that familiar with ring tossing yet. Just give me a moment to get the hang of it, and then I’ll compete with you.”

Dong Yuanyao said with a laugh, “Then I’ll wait.” As she spoke, she moved aside to play with the prizes she had won.

Sun Changze noticed the crowd growing and quickly moved over to create a barrier to prevent people from bumping into her.

Dong Yuanyao looked up at Sun Changze, scoffed, and turned her gaze away, talking to her maid Hong Yu about giving these prizes to Madam Dong and the others when they returned home.

At the stall, Daohua picked up another ten rings, but unfortunately, she still couldn’t hook anything this time.

“Your force is off. Haven’t you noticed how the rings keep bouncing back?” Xiao Yeyang came over.

Daohua, “I know, ever since I returned from Sishan Village, I have been practicing to make my whip strikes more powerful. I deliberately strengthened my arm training, and now out of habit, I subconsciously use too much force.”

Xiao Yeyang stood beside Daohua, holding her hand gently and cast the ring forward, creating an arc in the air before precisely landing on a porcelain doll.

Seeing that she scored a prize, Daohua immediately cheered up, “I got it! Teach me one more time, let me get a real feel for it.”

Xiao Yeyang once again grasped Daohua’s hand. “Watch carefully,” he said, as his arm moved and he threw the ring. Very quickly, the ring encircled the item he had his eye on since early on.

The street vendor saw that what had been ringed was a pair of Tongxin Knots and not something valuable, immediately breathed a sigh of relief, hurriedly picked up the Tongxin Knots, and smilingly handed them to the two: “Tongxin Knots symbolize a union of hearts forever. This old man congratulates the young master and miss now.”

Daohua hadn’t expected to snag this and was somewhat taken aback as she looked at the Tongxin Knots in the vendor’s hands, unsure whether to accept them or not.

Xiao Yeyang, however, was quite happy, taking the Tongxin Knots, keeping one for himself, and placing the other in Daohua’s hand: “Make sure to keep this safe, as this was snagged by the two of us together.”

Daohua felt the Tongxin Knot in her hand was a bit hot to the touch, glanced around, and quickly placed it in her purse.

Seeing this, Xiao Yeyang also laughed and placed his own Tongxin Knot into his chest.

Noticing the vendor still smiling at them, Daohua defensively explained: “Sir, he is my brother, and we are siblings.”

Who knew that upon hearing this, the vendor only laughed harder: “Miss, this old man’s eyes aren’t blurred with age yet. You two don’t look like siblings at all but clearly a pair of lovers.” After saying this, he gave them a knowing look.

Daohua was somewhat speechless and was about to say something when she heard a commotion erupting in the street.

Someone had accidentally fallen up ahead, and because the street was crowded, it caused a surge, with everyone pushing and shoving, moving towards their direction.

Seeing the approaching crowd, Xiao Yeyang quickly protected Daohua in his arms and moved to a corner for shelter.

“Yuanyao!”

Daohua called out worriedly for Dong Yuanyao.

Dong Yuanyao didn’t manage to move to the corner in time, but fortunately, Sun Changze was protecting her and didn’t let anyone bump into her.

Under the jostling of the crowd, someone knocked over a nearby lantern post, which just so happened to be right beside Dong Yuanyao and others.

The incident occurred so suddenly and the crowd was so dense that Dong Yuanyao had no way to avoid it. Just as the lantern post was about to crash down on her, Sun Changze pulled her over, sheltering her under him while the lantern post brutally smashed onto his back.

Hearing Sun Changze’s muffled groan, Dong Yuanyao looked up at him with urgency, “Sun Changze, are you alright?”

Enduring the pain, Sun Changze gave a pained smile and said, “I’m fine. Miss Dong, don’t worry, with me here, you won’t get hurt.”

Upon hearing this, Dong Yuanyao was stunned for a moment and couldn’t help but remember how this man had rushed over without hesitation last time to take a knife for her.

Looking around, Sun Changze noted that there was no place to lay down the lantern post because people were everywhere. Consequently, he had no choice but to keep holding onto it.

Meanwhile, at the restaurant, Yan Wenkai, Yan Wentao, and Su Hongxin had taken turns arm wrestling when they realized that Daohua and Dong Yuanyao had disappeared.

Upon inquiring from a servant, Yan Wenxiu learned that they had gone to the street fair and immediately felt a headache coming on.

Dong Yuanxuan looked around the second floor and, noticing that Xiao Yeyang was also missing, his eyes flickered and he said with a smile, “Let’s go down for a walk as well.”

Yan Wenkai immediately agreed, “Sure.” Then, looking at Su Shiyu, he said, “Sister Su, come on, the fourth brother will take you to see the variety shows.” Saying this, he pulled Su Shiyu downstairs.

Watching the two leave, everyone else was taken aback.

Dong Yuanxuan glanced at Yan Wenxiu and, seeing his dumbfounded face, then looked at Su Hongxin.

Well, the guy’s own sister was being whisked away, and yet he was still chatting and laughing eagerly with Wentao.

Dong Yuanxuan couldn’t help but remind him: “Hongxin, Wenkai has pulled Sister Su away.”

Su Hongxin didn’t seem to mind at all: “I saw it, but with Wenkai looking after Shiyu, I am at ease.”

Hearing this, everyone was speechless.

Just how big could this guy’s heart be!
