Chapter 489- Stolen Goods
Chapter 489: Chapter 489- Stolen Goods
Sol’s vision turned dark after he was sucked into the Shadow Dimension. After he regained his vision, he was on the ground being bombarded by sunlight.
"Ugh."
Sol groaned as he used one hand to cover his eyes so they could adjust to the sudden brightness. Afterward, he began looking around. He was in a small clearing inside a forest. The sunlight was seeping through the foliage of the tall trees above.
Sol’s fingers were entangled by the luscious green grass as placed he his hands on the ground to sit up. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Yoon-jae and the others were there with him.
"Ugh, it feels like my internal organs have been rearranged."
Cian said as he sat up. Everyone agreed with his words, but Sol and Woo-seong might have it better because of their sturdier physiques.
"So, this is the Shadow Dimension? It’s not what I would imagine from a place called the Land of Death."
Woo-seong said while looking around at the colorful forest shrubbery and trees.
"That’s because we’re in the inner region that’s being lit by the sun in the outside world."
Everyone turned to Ushi when they heard his strange words.
"What does that mean?"
Yoon-jae asked from next to him.
Ushi’s face was slightly pale, and he looked like he could fall over at any moment. However, he still explained.
"The original state of the ’Shadow’ Dimension is complete darkness; the sun doesn’t exist here. Within this darkness lurks undead creatures and strange Spirit Beasts. Only during the Lunar Eclipse, when the Formation sealing the dimension is opened, that sunlight enter from the outside. This drives away those creatures as they are afraid of sunlight. However, this sunlight only covers a certain area of the dimension, and that’s the inner area. But if you were to leave and enter the outer region, you’d enter that darkness that has those monsters. However, it’s not only the monsters you’d have to worry about if you were to enter that place, but the darkness itself. It can enter your body and slowly corrode your soul."
After hearing Ushi’s explanation everyone was slightly intrigued by the state of the dimension. Well, everyone except Sol.
"Undead creatures? You don’t you mean creatures like g-ghosts, right?"
Ushi turned to Sol and was slightly amused to see that his expression had nearly become as pale as his. Smiling, Ushi said.
"I was referring to creatures that keep walking even after death, but I’ve read reports of ghosts appearing here in my family records. I suppose they are like those Cheonyeo ghosts mentioned in Jianghu?"
"Cheonyeo ghosts? Are you sure? What are those doing in here?"
Yoon-jae suddenly looked at Ushi with a skeptical expression.
"Brother Yoon-jae, what are those? Are they really scary?"
Yoon-jae turned to Sol, but upon seeing his nervous expression and constant fidgeting, Yoon-jae didn’t know what to say.
"Of course they’re scary Second Eldest Brother, they’re terrifying! Those are ghosts that appear after one dies without consummating. They say that they specifically target those who haven’t consummated yet."
"Wh-What?!"
Sol’s eyes widened in horror, and he started looking around frantically.
Whenever ghosts were brought up, Sol felt himself become irrationally fearful. So much so, that he didn’t think to question why ghosts like that would exist in this dimension or wonder why Ushi had suddenly burst out laughing after seeing his reaction.
Ushi was laughing so hard that he almost fell over due to his weakened state.
After helping Ushi stand upright, Yoon-jae had to be the one to tell Sol that no such ghost exists, and that Ushi was only trying to scare him. However, Sol was only slightly pacified as Ushi clarified right after that they were indeed ghost-like entities inside the outer region that could enter the inner region.
"You said those creatures kept walking even after death? That means their bodies are still intact, right? Interesting."
Sol’s head suddenly veered around to Cian, and he gave him an angry look with his eyes wide open.
Cian smiled bitterly and he raised his hands before saying.
"I wasn’t suggesting we go there."
Sol huffed, but at the moment a message suddenly came to everyone’s Shadowband.
"It’s the rules of the first round."
Woo-seong said and everyone went silent as they opened the message.
Sol read the message carefully before a thoughtful expression appeared on his face.
He was quite surprised by the information despite expecting it.
The first round indeed had two phases as he had deduced. The first was the individual competition where they would gather points to move onto the second round, and the second was that they would compete to enter a Legacy Tower by occupying a city inside the dimension.
There was also a detailed map of the Shadow Dimension and looking at it, Sol saw several white dots spread out across it, which was likely the location of the various cities.
These white spots were also concentrated inside a rather large area Sol concluded to be the inner region; however, he also saw more white spots outside of this area, but the area around these dots wasn’t drawn on the map.
There wasn’t anything wrong with this information, but there was one thing about it that made Sol’s thoughts flicker to life.
The number of people who can enter the Legacy Tower corresponds to the number of people who can capture the ’City Pearls’ located in these cities. However, the highest number of City Pearls in one city was six, while the lowest was one.
This detail meant that the competition to capture the cities would be fierce.
Now Sol understood why they were advised to create a faction upon entering the dimension.
This was also in addition to their being large secret treasured lands filled with resources, they could work together to fight for control over them.
If a faction were to find one of these treasured lands, then even if they didn’t get to enter this Legacy Tower or move on to the second round, they would have no regrets after leaving the dimension.
As Sol was in his thoughts, the others were also digesting this information. But suddenly, a cry of alarm came from Cian.
"T-This is the Magic Tower of the Human Race!"
Ushi immediately scoffed at that claim.
"What Magic Tower of the Human Race? How do you know this is really the Magic Tower of the Human Race? Have you ever seen it before? Can you prove it? Where’s your proof?"
Having been bombarded by those questions, Cian regained his bearing and awkwardly cleared his throat. He then explained.
"I didn’t mean this is the Magic Tower of Human Race, just that it’s similar based on its description."
"What’s that?"
Woo-seong asked, and Cian further explained.
"The Human Race’s Magic Tower is something that was created by the Dwarven Race. Before the Great Calamity, it was said that all the magic in the world could be found inside. From the lowest of Classes of Spells to the highest ones that were ever seen on the continent, you could find it there. What’s more, anyone was free to enter the Tower as long as they had the required level and weren’t blacklisted by the Magic Tower. Even after the Great Calamity the Magic Tower is still standing today in the territory of the Beorhtric Family. However..."
Cian’s expression was full of admiration as he spoke up to here, but his expression suddenly became strange as he said his next words.
"...However, after the Great Calamity, all the Magic Spells and research mysteriously disappeared."
A sudden silence fell over the group, and even Ushi wore a stunned expression.
Based on everything he knew as well as what he just heard, it almost seemed like his Ancestor had somehow stolen the Magic Spells and research in the Western Continent’s Magic Tower during the Great Calamity and then used those stolen goods to build his own Tower which he called the Legacy Tower.
What do you think?
