96 – Reaching through the Void
96 – Reaching through the Void
[A/N: To clarify, people can use the entrances as a network of gateways. One person could enter the Cafe from Gotham and exit to Hell's Kitchen. I have absolutely no idea if I ever mentioned that particular topic, especially after all of this time]
Deep within Oblivion, in the realm of the Shivering Isles, a seemingly ordinary man in an outfit that could only be described as one a Jester would wear, with its flamboyant rainbow colors, sat one God of Madness. Of course, it was none other than Sheogorath, Daedric Prince of Madness, Cheese, Music, and Skooma.
Laughing like a madman, the Divine being in the disguise of a human, laughed and kicked his feat as he watched his newest follower galavant across Skyrim with his staff.
"Ah! She's just purrfect!" The Mad God, also known as the Skooma Cat to the Khajiit, laughed as he dinned on cheese, skooma, and various other drugs and concoctions he stole from Sanguine's personal stash, which, said God of Revelry has yet to notice. Nearby, dear old Haskill, Sheogorath's personal servant for countless years, watched with his usual seriousness while attempting to stop his Lord from his more...violent tendencies.
That's when the world seemed to freeze around his newly chosen mortal, making the Mad God's laugh abruptly stop as his fury grew.
"You damn lizard! Stop messing with my fun!" The Mad God cursed and pointed through time and space, poking a certain God of Time, only to find that he, too, was frozen.
Frowning with deathly seriousness, Sheogorath reached out, finding even his other 'kin' were frozen, too.
The whole world was frozen.
That's when he felt his connection with his chosen shift, and he followed along with his 'sight,' only to frown more when he saw her being pulled through the Void and realm of Sithis that surrounded all of creation.
Following the link to his chosen, Sheogorath marveled as the void opened before him. Peering through the opening, Sheo froze, as he could see countless black spheres just...like...
Peering further to take a look at his own, when he turned around, he found his home to be a sphere, just like the hundreds that scattered the empty expanse before him.
Reaching out to the closest sphere, Sheogorath was surprised that he could peek through the layers of the void. Upon looking through, he saw his home. Nirn and Oblivion, yet not his, were each of these spheres a copy of Sheo's Nirn and Oblivion?
That's when felt the tether connecting him to his chosen get 'yanked' for lack of better terms.
Following the link, the Mad God saw through his champion's eyes, and Sheo felt his entire being freeze.
Standing beside his champion was something that Sheo's senses couldn't even describe, and in its presence, Sheo felt his entire being shake and rumble. Indecipherable whispers and muttering rang out in his mind relentlessly. His very being shook like a leaf against a gust of wind as the aura of the creature before his host threatened to destroy his entire being in its entirety by its mere presence.
Yet, at his core, he felt even worse, as a hidden side of him thrashed in agony at the chaos the entity before him represented, even more than the Chaos Sheo himself represented.
As Sheo prepared to fight to save himself, the creature turned away, seemingly unnoticing or uncaring of Sheogorath.
'Mortal...what is that?' Sheogorath asked the mortal blessed by his madness.
His now strangely colored and oddly clown-remanence mortal stopped midstep, staring off into the air before looking around.
"...Old man?" Harley asked in confusion.
"It is your dear old Sheogorath, and I have come along for the ride!" The mad god cackled, getting right back to the act.
"What...?" Harley stood, baffled.
...
A certain entity watched as Harley stepped out of the Cafe curiously. For a mere moment, Zerref could have sworn he felt something off about Harley before that feeling vanished. Paying no mind to it, Zerref merely wished Harley a good day and sent her on her way.
...
Meanwhile, in Washington, D.C., a certain pirate of a man was seated in a simple office on the top floor of the building. Before him was a simple computer with the ICON of SHIELD on the back of the monitor. On-screen was a list of data and reports regarding the Laser Rifles. They managed to get their hands on them from the unknown armored man known as 'Tyke,' who was one of the first customers of the Cafe.
Said the man, even after being tailed by multiple agents, who always managed to shake them, leaving Fury with no information as to who they were. If not for the Cafe itself, Fury would have assumed that the man was ex-military, but with how much time the man spent on Fallout, there was no telling who they were outside of the Cafe. However, from what Agent Coulson was able to discern from the man after joining his guild, The Lone Wanderers.
As it turns out, that very guild sought out the secrets of the Wasteland across the Fallout Games, and from it, Agent Coulson was able to piece together this alternate Earth's history and how it turned out the way it is. Even now, Coulson has to write out a report every time something new is learned, these worlds that 'Zerref' disguised as games could be learned from; look at 'Tyke.' Several CTV cameras recorded his use of custom Eyebots and various gadgets that he had not procured from the Cafe.
Fury was glad that they managed to purchase the Laser Rifles Tyke assembled before he could sell it to someone else. Through Coulson, Fury made a deal with Tyke in which he would supply SHIELD with a crate of Laser Rifles each month, a crate holding twenty-five such rifles. These Rifles were far beyond anything Humanity could produce, rivaling only the HYDRA weapons from World War 2, and while most of these Rifles were capable of being reproduced, the science teams in charge of reverse engineering them came across some roadblocks, and those roadblocks involved the most import part components of the rifle.
Unfortunately, the crystal arrays and Fusion cells were currently unreproducible, as there was no reliable way to recharge the Fusion cells safely, nor was there any way to reproduce the crystal arrays that directed and focused the powerful lasers of the Laser Rifles. These Laser Rifles were insanely accurate, could punch a hole through a steel wall with a few shots, blow off limbs, and leave cauterized wounds on whatever unarmored target they struck.
While Tyke was a person of interest, more were already cropping up from the Cafe. Vigilantism was on the rise as more civilians and criminals got their hands on items and objects that were far too dangerous. To keep it under control, Fury had multiple teams around each 'entrance' where they'd catch anyone missing the items. From this, they managed to get a decent amount of these otherworldly items.
However, the situation quickly grew unstoppable as more and more people flooded into the cafe every day. Fury didn't have enough manpower to keep an eye on everyone who entered and exited the Cafe, and if not already, other foreign powers would begin investigating with their own agents, and from there? The matter would be out of Fury's hands.
What do you think?
