Chapter 77 - 77 77 Caught Red-handed_1
Chapter 77: Chapter 77: Caught Red-handed_1 Chapter 77: Chapter 77: Caught Red-handed_1 “Mm.” Xia Qingtian responded, pretending to yawn and whimper lazily like a cat, “Ugh, I’m so tired!”
Upon hearing her, Bo Jingyan felt as if someone had lightly scraped his heart with their fingers.
Seeing him not responding, Xia Qingtian had to ask, “Mr. Bo, why did you call me? Do you need anything?”
Hadn’t he given her a day off?
Could it be that he knew she was at the old estate and was only calling to probe her?
“Nothing at all…” Bo Jingyan didn’t have the heart to disturb her further, so he said, “Please come early to prepare my breakfast tomorrow morning.”
“Alright, I understand.” Xia Qingtian obediently replied.
Inwardly, though, she was grumbling about such a relentless capitalist. He just had given her a day off only to ask her to get up early the next day to cook breakfast.
“Then you rest.”
After saying that, Bo Jingyan hung up the phone.
“Whose call was that…” Just as he hung up, he faintly heard an old, familiar voice sounding from the other end of the phone.
Bo Jingyan quickly recognized it.
It was his grandfather’s voice!
He wanted to hear more clearly, but the call had already been disconnected.
Bo Jingyan’s sharp gaze became knotted.
Didn’t Xia Qingtian just say she was sleeping?
How could he hear his grandfather’s voice on her end?
What was going on?
Had he misheard?
Or was Xia Qingtian lying?
Was she actually not asleep, and was with his grandfather instead?
He remembered seeing his grandfather and Xia Qingtian conversing happily at the hospital.
Bo Jingyan’s dark eyes momentarily flashed with an indescribable emotion.
Whether he had misheard or not, he’d find out by investigating!
With that thought, he immediately stepped on the gas pedal, and the car, like a loosed arrow, sped towards the old estate.
Little did Xia Qingtian know that Bo Jingyan had heard his grandfather’s voice.
At the moment, she was still relieved that she had hung up just in time.
“Grandfather, what’s up?” Instead of answering her grandfather, she asked him back.
“Dinner is ready, and the kitchen has made all your favorites.” Her grandfather lovingly called her over to eat.
Xia Qingtian put the phone call out of her mind instantly.
She obediently followed her grandfather to the dining room.
…
It didn’t take long for Bo Jingyan to return to the old estate.
“Young Master, why are you back without a word?” Zhang Bo was taken aback when he saw him.
“Mm, I came to visit Grandfather.” Bo Jingyan responded without expression. Then he asked, “Where is Grandfather?”
Zhang Bo recalled Xia Qingtian was also at the old estate.
And it seemed that their young master didn’t know Xia Qingtian was his ‘wife’. With young master’s temperament, wouldn’t there be a big commotion if he happened to see Xia Qingtian?
“Young Master, the old man has already gone to sleep. Perhaps you could come another day.” Zhang Bo calmly shifted his body in an attempt to block his path.
Bo Jingyan furrowed his brows.
Could it be that he really had misheard?
That it wasn’t his grandfather’s voice on the phone?
“Then I’ll go to his room and see him.” Saying this, he prepared to move past Zhang Bo and go to his grandfather’s room.
Zhang Bo stopped him quickly, “Young Master, Grandfather’s old now, and any noise can wake him up. It’s better not to go.”
A thoughtful look passed through Bo Jingyan’s deep eyes.
His grandfather was getting old. His sleep was shallow, and he was easily woken up by even the slightest sound.
As he mulled this over, trying to discern the truth in Zhang Bo’s words.
Just at that moment…
The voices of an old and a young person conversing rang out within the old estate.
Bo Jingyan turned his head, just in time to see Xia Qingtian helping his grandpa walk out of the dining room.
“Xia Qingtian!!!” he exclaimed suddenly.
Xia Qingtian and Bo Jingyan’s grandfather had a very pleasant dinner together, and had unintentionally eaten too much.
To aid digestion, she decided to take a walk with his grandfather.
Hearing that voice, she looked up to see Bo Jingyan glaring at her with cold anger.
“Bo… Bo Jingyan?!”
Xia Qingtian froze on the spot, turning deathly pale.
Wasn’t he supposed to be at an engagement this evening?
Why would he suddenly appear at the old estate?
Bo Jingyan’s handsome face was imposing as he swiftly walked towards Xia Qingtian.
“Xia Qingtian, how dare you lie to me!” His voice was terribly cold.
“I…” Xia Qingtian’s mind went blank.
She didn’t know how to explain herself.
The thought of those people who had angered Bo Jingyan got disabled made her feel like she had fallen into an ice cave.
The hand with which she was supporting her grandfather’s arm began shaking intensely out of fear.
Her grandfather sensed her fear and patted her hand in a calming manner.
“Hmph, you finally see clearly now, realizing this woman is deceiving you, don’t you?” Immediately after he said, he turned to Bo Jingyan, nodding in affirmation.
“I knew she was after your money and trying to marry into a wealthy family. That’s why she’s intentionally getting close to you. Now, you finally see her true colors, right?”
Saying this, he pushed Xia Qingtian aside.
“You, let me tell you, trying to curry favor with me won’t help you. The only granddaughter-in-law I recognize is Shen Qing, no other woman will ever be allowed to set foot in the entrance of the Bo Family!”
Xia Qingtian hadn’t reacted in time and was pushed, stumbling for a moment, almost falling over.
Bo Jingyan instinctively reached out to support her, “Are you alright?”
“I’m… I’m fine…” Xia Qingtian shook her head, her face pale.
Seeing she was fine, Bo Jingyan’s tone softened a bit, “Why are you at the old house? Didn’t you say you were sleeping?”
The tone of his grandfather’s previous words made him think there was more to the story.
Before Xia Qingtian could answer, his grandfather spoke up, “I had her forcibly brought to the old house to cook for me. Is there a problem?”
“Why?” Bo Jingyan frowned, unable to understand his grandfather’s intentions.
“You’ve been so indifferent to your wife, Qingqing. Of course, I had to investigate the reason. I didn’t expect to find a ‘vixen’ by your side on investigating.” His grandfather huffed coldly, clearly dissatisfied with him.
Bo Jingyan didn’t like others talking about Xia Qingtian like that.
Moreover, he didn’t want to involve her in his complicated relationship with Shen Qing.
He frowned and explained, “Currently, Xia Qingtian is just my personal chef who takes care of my meals.”
“Hmph, so, I invited her to come here so she could cook for me personally. I wanted to taste her cooking to see if it’s really that good.”
Bo Jingyan frowned while turning towards Xia Qingtian, “Is this true?”
By this time, Xia Qingtian had already understood her grandfather’s intentions.
She tried to maintain her composure and nodded, “Yes, that’s how it is.”
Bo Jingyan felt that something was wrong.
He squinted his eyes. His expression was one of inquiry as he asked, “Then why did you lie?”
What do you think?
