The CEO’s Billion Dollar Bride

Chapter 27 - 27 28、Always one step behind

Chapter 27: 28、Always one step behind Chapter 27: 28、Always one step behind Upon reaching their destination, Ivy Aretha tried to push the door to jump out of the car but was pulled back by the seatbelt.

“Let go of me!” Without thinking, Ivy instinctively screamed at the top of her lungs.

Michael Gordon looked at her with a blackened expression. Was this woman overly sensitive or not sensitive enough to not even tell the difference between a hand and a seatbelt?

“Are you sure someone is holding you back?”

Michael turned his head to look at her, trying to suppress his laughter, “If you don’t want to get out, just say it. There hasn’t been a woman who wanted to leave once they got on my car, Michael Gordon. You’re not the first. No shame!”

Huh?

Ivy looked back into a pair of teasing eyes. Once she realized what had just transpired, her face flushed with embarrassment.

Not the first? Damn it, how dare this man say that. Confidently boasting about himself in front of her, Ivy once again felt a headache coming from the thought of her precious little girl having such a father.

“Stallion!” Ivy blurted out as she unfastened her seatbelt.

A stallion? This woman was pretty gutsy.

Michael leaned back in his seat and watched her curiously, “Did I impregnate you?”

Damn it, in Ivy’s heart, of course, he had taken advantage of her, even forced it. Otherwise, where did their daughter come from? However, she didn’t dare to say this in front of him; otherwise, her precious daughter might not be safe.

So, Ivy Aretha retorted without hesitation, “Don’t worry, I won’t let you impregnate me again!”

Ivy’s attitude was as defiant as it could be, which greatly annoyed the always high-and-mighty Young Master Gordon.

After finishing her sentence, Ivy pushed open the door and ran inside as fast as she could. However, due to a twisted ankle and not having time to change her clothes, it took some time for her long dress to come off and her to bounce off the passenger seat.

As soon as Ivy’s feet touched the ground, she stumbled and fell forward. She thought she would hit the ground, but someone caught her wrist and swung her into a broad embrace.

The playful voice followed, and warm breath sprayed onto her earlobe, “Is this my chance to play the hero and save the beauty?”

A hero who saved the beauty? Taking advantage of her and still having the audacity to call himself a hero. The anger in Ivy’s heart surged as she thought of that morning six years ago.

It seemed a leopard never changes its spots. Despite the fact that she had knocked his memory out of him six years ago, his true nature as a hoodlum hadn’t changed a bit. Seeing a woman, he couldn’t help but flirt with her even though he dared to call himself a hero.

Ivy quickly pushed him away and took some time to steady herself, “I might be a beauty, but you, a hero? More like a stallion!”

Again with the stallion, this woman had quite the nerve to insist on calling him that!

“Fine, I’ll be a stallion!” Michael Gordon crossed his arms and chuckled as he watched her, “Don’t be too proud of yourself when you call me that. One day, you’ll let me impregnate you again!”

One day?

Heh, what a big mouth he had. Did he really think she was some random woman that he could bed whenever he wanted?

Ivy looked at him coldly and laughed sarcastically, “Mr. Gordon, you’re so full of yourself!”

After speaking, Ivy turned her head and walked towards the elevator, but didn’t take more than a step before Michael Gordon called out to her.

Turning her head, Ivy met a wickedly charming smile on Michael Gordon’s face. The teasing words spewed out of his mouth one by one, “What’s the matter? Aren’t you going to invite me up for a drink of water?”

Invite him upstairs? Absolutely not, her precious daughter was there. If she woke up and saw her mom bringing a man home, it would definitely cause a scene.

With this thought in mind, Ivy quickly pulled out ten dollars from her bag and shoved it into Michael Gordon’s hand without hesitation, “Turn right at the exit. There’s a convenience store at the entrance of the neighborhood. I’ll treat you to a drink!”

Having said that, she left at once, all the while feeling heartbroken. Ten dollars, that was enough for a bottle of water and even much more than the taxi fare. Inviting a CEO to be a driver was indeed not worth it.

Michael Gordon stared at the ten dollars in his hand, his face completely darkened, and his mind went blank. This woman…
“Miss Aretha is upstairs now, Mario. Let’s go back!”

Lina Miller grabbed the stunned Mario Jensen, who had been staring at Ivy, to remind him. However, Mario, gripping the steering wheel and staring intently at the building where Ivy had disappeared, seemed not to have heard her at all.

It wasn’t until Michael Gordon’s car drove out that he restarted the car and drove out of the residential area…

As soon as Ivy entered the door, her little one immediately pounced on her, “Kiss mom, you were dressed up so pretty tonight. Were you going on a blind date?”

Ivy, not bothering to change her dress, picked up her child and kissed her affectionately, “Baby, weren’t you asleep? Did you pretend to sleep and drive Aunt Madeline away again?”

When she called earlier, Sienna Harrison had said that the child had gone to sleep early. But now, so full of energy, she didn’t look like she had been woken up by Ivy’s commotion.

“Mom, you’re so silly. If I hadn’t pretended to sleep, do you think Aunt Madeline would’ve left?” Bianca Aretha tapped Ivy’s head with her chubby little hand and let out a long sigh, “Your burden, the oil bottle, has already dragged you down. I can’t let Aunt Madeline be burdened too!”

Bianca’s words struck a chord in Ivy’s once iron-like heart, a sour feeling filled her eyes and her heart, “Baby, you’re mommy’s sweetheart, not a burden!”

Not a burden?

Bianca’s lips curved into a seductive, devilish smile. She had been waiting for this word for a long time.

“Mom, now that your baby isn’t a burden anymore, I won’t affect you finding a boyfriend, right?”

Bianca blinked her eyes at Ivy Aretha, her black pupils swirling, “Mom, who was that handsome man who brought you back earlier? Is he pursuing you?”

Ivy’s mind exploded, her heart skipped a beat, “Baby, tell mommy, who did you see?”

Bianca tilted her head, looking intently at Ivy Aretha, “A very handsome man, he was even holding mommy! He must like mommy. Mommy, just accept him and have him be my daddy!”

Accept him? Ivy’s thoughts were in turmoil. Could she really accept such a stallion?

More importantly, she didn’t want to accept him!

“Baby, it was mommy! I hurt my leg and fell, and the uncle just helped me up, not holding me!”

Ivy sighed and felt the need to explain to her child to prevent any misunderstandings. “Also, the uncle is mommy’s boss, so having him be your daddy is impossible!”

“What? Aunt Madeline said that office romances are all the rage these days. You know, like the dark CEO vs the innocent subordinate kind!”

Ivy cursed silently. She should’ve left Sienna Harrison in the bar last time.

Bianca seemed to not have any intention of letting go of Ivy Aretha’s evasive attitude.

Upon hearing this, Ivy gritted her teeth, “Bianca, do you really see mommy as an innocent bunny? Then what are you?”
