Chapter 20 - 20 21. A story of an extra person
Chapter 20: 21. A story of an extra person Chapter 20: 21. A story of an extra person ) “Ivy, you…” Mario Jensen couldn’t help but stutter while looking at Ivy Aretha, as the rest of his words got stuck in his throat.
Lina Miller, who had her arm linked with his, could clearly feel the light in his eyes fading. The joy he had when he first saw Ivy Aretha disappeared instantly after hearing Michael Gordon’s words.
“Mr. Gordon, Miss Aretha, please go ahead with your business. We have something to attend to over there!”
Lina Miller had been in the entertainment industry for many years, mastering the art of reading people. She knew exactly what Mario Jensen was thinking.
To avoid the awkwardness, she pulled Mario Jensen away from the scene.
“Why did you pull me away?” Mario Jensen frowned slightly, looking at Lina Miller with dissatisfaction.
Lina Miller stopped momentarily, then continued walking with him. She knew he was angry; she was all too familiar with his temper having been with him for many years. If they stayed any longer, he might end up confronting Michael Gordon over that woman.
And just who was Michael Gordon? A powerful figure in Andras City. Although Mario Jensen was also a person of importance, compared to Michael Gordon, there was quite a gap. Moreover, this occasion was not suitable for any confrontations.
“There’s no reason. We have something to do!”
Lina Miller didn’t look at him but replied indifferently. She felt a vague pain in her heart. After all these years, their relationship was still not on par with Ivy’s. One glimpse, and her heart filled with melancholy.
Although Lina Miller’s tone was somewhat plain, it was very blunt. This blunt feeling hit Mario Jensen’s chest, making it clear that she was unhappy. She had been with him for many years, and he had become familiar with her emotions.
Mario Jensen furrowed his brow and stared deeply into her eyes, “Lina, you figured out who she is, didn’t you?”
Lina Miller’s heart skipped a beat, not expecting him to be so direct, leaving her no room to fantasize. What could she do?
Hearing him say that, Lina Miller hesitated, then unconsciously nodded, “You’ve made it so obvious. Do I even need to guess?”
Mario Jensen stared at her, unable to say a word…
Ivy Aretha dumbly watched Mario Jensen being pulled away by Lina Miller, feeling a pang of sadness. Her senior from years before had now grown into a business tycoon and was no longer the same person who would playfully tap her nose with a smile.
She was no longer the naive girl from years back either. Now, she was a mother, but not yet a wife!
Time had passed so quickly; it had already been six years!
“What are you looking at? Can’t you see how well-matched they are? You dare to break them apart?”
Still lost in her thoughts, Ivy Aretha heard Michael Gordon’s impatient voice above her, as if he had swallowed a firecracker.
Already in a bad mood, Ivy Aretha’s mood worsened after being scolded by him. Without thinking, she pushed him away, “Michael Gordon, can you mind your own business? Did I ever say I wanted to break them apart? With how I am, only you would want me! They wouldn’t even care!”
Tsk, tsk, “It seems I guessed right. A cheating ex-boyfriend?” Seeing her reaction, Michael Gordon didn’t get angry; instead, his mood improved.
If Mario Jensen was really Ivy Aretha’s cheating ex-boyfriend, then the guy had poor taste. He had missed out on such a good woman, leaving himself single and going on blind dates. Truly pitiful.
Michael Gordon knew some things about Mario Jensen. As the head of the Jensen family, he was decisive, courageous, and had outstanding vision. He had greatly expanded the Jensen family business, taking the originally cosmetic-based company into the entertainment industry in recent years.
The first celebrity they signed was the self-proclaimed National Goddess and Golden Horse Best Actress, Lina Miller. He had thought that Mario Jensen had a relationship with Lina Miller; otherwise, why would the self-sufficient woman who never signed with other companies choose to sign with a newly established film and television company like the Jensen family’s?
But the truth was they had strictly professional relationships and no scandals. Mario Jensen, like himself, was constantly pressured by his family to go on blind dates.
“Mr. Gordon, it’s one thing to eat carelessly, but you can’t just speak carelessly too!”
Ivy Aretha glared at him fiercely, took a few steps, and continued to turn around to look at him.
“Why does it have to be that a man and a woman reuniting after several years in a special place must be in a romantic relationship? Let me say it again; he’s just my senior, not my ex-boyfriend!”
After saying this through gritted teeth, Ivy Aretha headed towards the door without hesitation. She was that kind of person, who couldn’t tolerate misunderstandings from others, particularly scoundrels like Michael Gordon.
However, before she took a few more steps, she was stopped by Michael Gordon, “Alright, alright, I admit I was wrong, okay?”
Seeing Ivy Aretha getting angry, Michael Gordon, for the first time in his life, apologized to a woman in such an occasion primarily because of Ivy Aretha’s words, “He’s just my senior, not my ex-boyfriend.”
Before Ivy Aretha could open her mouth, she was blocked by a group of unfamiliar C-list actresses. She quickly realized that they were here based on the purpose of this banquet, which was to explore signing agreements with various film and television companies, and Allure International was the biggest one among them.
It was said in the industry that as long as Allure International was willing to sign you, you couldn’t help but become successful. As the top company in the entertainment industry, it was highly sought after by many celebrities, especially C-list celebrities who had struggled for years without much success. They needed an opportunity to turn their fortunes around.
Allure International was naturally their first choice. Once they heard that Michael Gordon would personally attend this star signing intention party, they eagerly waited and seized the chance to approach as soon as he arrived.
“Mr. Gordon, I’m Jade, do I have a chance to sign with Allure International this time?”
“Mr. Gordon, I’m Rainbow, do I have a chance too?”
After stabilizing her footing, Ivy Aretha was immediately surrounded by these women, who blocked off their access to the rest of the room. The two were eventually pushed into a corner of the hotel.
One question after another sprang from different mouths, which overwhelmed their minds. Ivy Aretha had never seen such a scene before and for the first time, she realized that celebrities and street women had not much of a difference.
“Everyone, don’t be anxious. To discuss signing matters with you all, I’ve specially brought Miss Ivy Aretha from the legal affairs department of Allure International. She’ll discuss everything with you later!”
What do you think?
