Chapter 17: You are unusually scary today

Chapter 17: Chapter 17: You are unusually scary today

Xu Yisen didn’t reach out to take Munni’s coat. He glanced at Qin Muni, unbuckled his seatbelt, opened the car door, and got out.

He then walked around the car and stood in front of the passenger seat’s car door, opening the door for Qin Muni.

Qin Muni raised her eyebrows at Xu Yisen by the car door, puzzled. Before she could ask what Xu Yisen was doing, he suddenly bent down and reached in to unbuckle her seatbelt.

"Mom wants me to safely escort you home. Let me take you upstairs."

He explained his actions with a slight purse of his lips.

Qin Muni stepped out of the car, offering the coat in her hand to Xu Yisen once again, smiling helplessly, "No need for the trouble. You can head back."

Xu Yisen gently draped the coat over her shoulders after taking it, not giving Qin Muni any chance to resist, as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders and led her toward the elevator.

"Even though the security in the neighborhood is good, things can go wrong. Just in case, let me see you home."

Qin Muni gave a sideways glance at Xu Yisen, who was seriously making up ridiculous reasons, teasingly asking, "Once you drop me off at the door, are you planning to come in for a cup of hot tea?"

The elevator arrived, and its doors opened slowly. Qin Muni slipped out of Xu Yisen’s embrace and stepped into the elevator first.

Xu Yisen followed her inside, pressed the button for the fifteenth floor, and said calmly, "Some things shouldn’t be exposed too bluntly."

Qin Muni found it hard to believe that Xu Yisen, who usually didn’t pay much attention to her, was actually responding to her casual teasing so cooperatively today?

Unable to resist, she glanced sideways at the man beside her. Perhaps it was the soft lighting overhead that melted the coolness between his eyebrows.

The light flowed into his eyes, resembling sunlight shimmering across a tranquil lake, scattering glistening waves.

This gentle version of Xu Yisen was something Qin Muni found a bit hard to adapt to.

She withdrew her gaze, pursed her lips, and lowered her eyes to stare at the floor, seemingly deep in thought.

After a while, she slowly lifted her head, gazing worriedly at Xu Yisen, and solemnly asked, "Yisen, is something wrong with you?"

"Hm?"

"Like, did you get sick or something?"

"...What are you trying to say?"

"You seem a bit eerily different today."

"...!"

Qin Muni waited a few seconds, not receiving a reply from Xu Yisen, thinking he might be upset by her joke.

Surprisingly, in the next moment, Xu Yisen reached out his right hand and gently flicked her forehead playfully.

When the elevator arrived at the fifteenth floor, the doors gradually opened. With a subtle smile in his eyes, Xu Yisen looked at Qin Muni, who was in disbelief, and kindly reminded, "We’re here."

Qin Muni sluggishly followed behind Xu Yisen out of the elevator, astonished and thinking that Xu Yisen must have taken the wrong medicine today.

He actually flicked her forehead? He actually did such a childish and affectionate gesture toward her? He even smiled at her after flicking her forehead? Incredible!

Arriving at Munni’s home entrance, both of them stopped in their tracks. Qin Muni quelled her surprise, speaking to Xu Yisen, "It’s fine to drop me here, thank you."

Xu Yisen raised an eyebrow, half-jokingly asking, "You’re really not planning to invite me in for a cup of hot tea?"

With Xu Yisen acting so unusually today, Qin Muni replied rather rudely with an eye roll, "I’m not planning on it. It’s late already, you should head back."
