Chapter 11
Cyberpunk All Masters - Episode 11
11. Beyond the Wall
“Lee Do-jin... a Chilgok D-grade Hunter?”
“Yes, that's correct.”
“Why would a D-grade Hunter go on a solo raid?”
At the checkpoint in the 5th district of Dong-gu in Daegu Green Zone, soldiers dressed in pitch-black uniforms alternated between looking at my ID and my face.
Though their faces were half-covered by military visors, I could guess the expressions behind them.
Their reactions were predictable.
Who would be crazy enough to go on a solo raid outside the wall as a D-grade Hunter? Legally, there's no issue, but it certainly defies common sense.
“Is there a problem? Some kind of control order issued...”
“It's not that, but are you serious? The situation in the Yellow Zone isn't great right now.”
The senior soldier, who seemed to be in charge, handed back my ID. His tone was as if he was trying to dissuade someone from a suicidal mission.
But I had my foolproof answer ready.
“I'm from Liberation Village, so it's fine.”
“Oh.”
As soon as I uttered 'that word,' the soldiers' attitudes changed. From seeing me as just an oddball, there was now a tinge of pity mixed in.
Still, given my status as a Hunter, they didn't openly show disdain or contempt.
Being a Hunter means being formally recognized as a citizen of Daegu Green Zone.
As long as I'm not an illegal immigrant, there's no reason for the soldiers to treat me as an enemy.
What do you think?
