Ten Day Ultimatum

Chapter 202

Chapter 202 Ordinary Civilian

Call the police…?

I had been bullying my way through school for so long, and no one had ever dared to threaten me with calling the police. But I had to admit, I was a little scared. I had never had dealings with the police before.

Would I end up like Qu ge, hauled off to prison?

The days that followed were even harder to endure. I couldn’t accept any gifts anymore, and even when I wanted to scold or punish the kids, I had to do it while Chen Ting wasn’t looking.

Whenever I ran into something unpleasant, I used to take it out on the children, showing them who was in charge. But now… now I felt hesitant, afraid to even raise my hand.

How could I live so stupid and cowardly like this?

During lunch break, I used my phone to search, curious about "what kind of people the police could arrest."

However, the results were a bit unexpected. The position of the police seemed so convenient, as if they could arrest anyone they wanted. But surprisingly, they didn't do that. Instead, they could only arrest lawbreakers.

Everyone online said that the police were generally very nice to ordinary citizens, after all, they were {civil police}.

Since that's the case, there's nothing for me to fear. After all, I'm just an ordinary citizen. I haven’t done anything outrageous; I simply want to live a better life.

While lost in thought, staring at my phone, I suddenly received a message.

It was from the father who had previously given me the gold necklace: [Ms. Xiao, are you’m busy right now?]

Without thinking, I typed [No], but after a second, deleted it.

[Kind of, what is it?]

About a minute later, he replied: [The things I sent you’m the other day were all returned. Is there a problem? Would you’m be free to have dinner tonight?]

Upon reading his message, a slow smile spread across my face. Men will always be men. I unexpectedly played hard to get without even realizing it.

I agreed to his invitation without hesitation and made sure to dress to impress—I chose a very low-cut, ultra-short skirt and applied a delicate layer of makeup. A strong sense of anticipation washed over me; I had a feeling my good days were about to return.

This father, whose car was incredibly luxurious, drove a model with a logo beginning with the letter P. I don't know how to pronounce it, but I heard it was called Pala-something, I couldn’t remember, but it was undoubtedly expensive.

He drove me to the only Western restaurant in town.

Once seated, he took out a delicate little box, inside of which was a watch.

“Ms. Xiao, I hope I’m not disturbing you’m too much. Please accept this little token of appreciation,” he said with a smile. “I’m very busy with work, and I’d like to ask for your continued care of Xiao Hao.”

I smiled as I took the watch and tried it on my wrist. "You really don’t need to be so polite, ge. I’m just a teacher, after all. It’s what we’re supposed to do."

"Yes... I know..." His expression seemed a bit troubled. "I’ve noticed that Xiao Hao hasn’t been very happy lately. After thinking it over, I realized that you’m spend the most time with him. If there’s anything going on, I would appreciate it if you’m could let me know right away. If you can take care of Xiao Hao wholeheartedly, I can work with peace of mind."

I paused, then looked up and asked, "Ge, if you want me to take care of Xiao Hao wholeheartedly... it puts me in a bit of a difficult position."

"Hm?" The man lifted his head, as though he didn’t quite understand what I meant.

"There are over thirty kids in the class and my energy is limited," I said with a smile. "The gift you’m gave me is very generous, but all I can promise is that I’ll do my best."

The man scratched his head, looking like he finally understood what I meant, though he still appeared quite troubled. "Well... I came here in a hurry, so I didn’t prepare much. I was wondering if you’m would mind me transferring some money to you’m?"

"How could I accept that?" I laughed again, genuinely amused. "I’m a teacher. How could I take your money, let alone spend it?"

"Then…" He was left speechless for a moment, unsure of how to respond.

This was the perfect opportunity for me to make my move.

"Ge... do you want to have a deeper connectionwith me?" I asked, "If I treat you as my own, I will naturally take care of Xiao Hao."

The man slowly straightened his back and leaned against the chair, his expression shifting noticeably. He seemed conflicted now.

"Ms. Xiao... you’m... you…you also do this kind of thing?"

"Come on ge, what are you saying?" I reached out and patted his hand casually. "I just don’t want to take your money for nothing. Plus, I’d like to take things further with you. It’ll be good for both of us."

After a few seconds, the man, who had been sitting upright, suddenly showed a contemptuous smile.

He was a major executive; he will definitely understand. This was just a trade-off. We both got what we wanted, and that way, neither of us owed the other anything.

We booked a room at a hotel in town, and just as I’d said before, even God seemed unwilling to let me have my way.

That night, the police showed up to raid the hotel. I had been reported again.

Flashing their badges, they informed me, “We received a tip from a concerned citizen that illegal transactions were taking place in the hotel.”

But they had it all wrong—I’d been falsely accused. I could clearly state the man’s name and age, had his number saved in my phone, and even knew his home address. How could they mistake me for some lowly slut selling herself?

At most, we were having an affair.

Since when was having an affair against the law?

Watching those officers and their presumptuous attitudes filled me with anger. How dare they falsely accuse me?

“Our apologies, ma’am. It seems we misunderstood,” one of them said as they moved to close the door and leave.

But there was no way I was letting them off so easily.

"Stop right there," I said. "You think a simple {our apologies} is enough? Is this how you officers handle things?"

"Uh..." The officers turned back, their faces looking uneasy. "Then what do you want us to do?"

"What do I want? That’s your problem to figure out." I crossed my arms over my chest. "You’re just planning to walk away like this? If you shot and killed a hostage while catching a criminal, would a mere apology be enough for you to leave scot-free?"

"You—!"

A young officer, visibly disgruntled, looked ready to argue, but an older officer by his side pulled him back.

"Las, we truly apologize, but we have our responsibilities. If someone reports a potential issue, we can’t just ignore it," the middle-aged officer explained somewhat politely. "It was wrong of us to disturb you like this. If you still have concerns, you’re welcome to file a complaint at the station. Here’s my badge number."

As expected, since I'm just an ordinary citizen, civil police are obligated to serve me.

That’s the fundamental difference between me and those cheap slut who sell themselves.

I gave them another earful before finally letting them leave.

What a rush.

This feeling was exhilarating.

Even those arrogant police officers were nothing special in the end.

Turning back, I was ready to {pick up where we left off}, only to find that the man’s gaze was now laced with even stronger contempt.

"I’m not in the mood anymore. Maybe some other time," he said in a low tone as he put on his clothes and walked out the door.

I stood there in a daze, unable to grasp what had just happened.

What exactly went wrong?

No matter how hard I tried to piece it together, I couldn’t find an answer. All I knew was that my {happiness} had slipped through my fingers once again.
