Chapter 173: Chapter 173: If You Don’t Divorce, Huo Xingzhou Will Be Widowed Chapter 173: Chapter 173: If You Don’t Divorce, Huo Xingzhou Will Be Widowed Qiao Xi listened to Jiang Yue’s words, intending to walk further inside when a woman’s voice stopped her.

“Qiao Xi.”

A graceful and dignified woman in high-heeled shoes entered the clinic. She carried a designer handbag in both hands, her gaze scrutinizing Qiao Xi’s figure.

Turning around, Qiao Xi saw Liu Huimin standing there with haughty demeanor. The patients and their families waiting nearby curiously looked on.

“This is the clinic Huo Xingzhou opened for you with his money? You’re quite capable,” Liu Huimin disdainfully remarked. She had thought Qiao Xi was an independent girl, but she too was essentially living off a man’s money.

“Do you need something?” Qiao Xi asked indifferently.

The last thing she wanted was to entangle herself with the Xu Family, but they repeatedly intruded.

Liu Huimin, with a smirk at the corner of her mouth, looked around before speaking, “Are you sure you want me to talk about it here?”

Qiao Xi looked at her, her eyes growing colder, “Come with me.”

Liu Huimin making a scene in the lobby would be harmful to the clinic. Qiao Xi didn’t want to provide gossip fodder nor spoil her clinic’s business.

The smile on Liu Huimin’s face grew deeper as she followed Qiao Xi into her private consultation room.

The door gently closed behind them.

Qiao Xi asked, “Just say what you need to say. There doesn’t seem much left to discuss between us.”

“No tea for a guest?” Liu Huimin sat down on the sofa for visitors and picked critically, “Is this the etiquette Zhao Yuzhen taught you? You’re less cultured than the average girl.”

Qiao Xi replied calmly, “My father died early, and my mother remarried. What can a mother who made her daughter marry in her place teach me? Besides, you come from a noble background but don’t seem to show much etiquette either.”

She and Liu Huimin had fallen out when Liu Zongyun was sent to the hospital.

“That sharp tongue of yours, no wonder it has Huo Xingzhou wrapped around your finger,” Liu Huimin said, scrutinizing Qiao Xi’s face as she placed her handbag aside.

She laughed and continued to mock, “Your face resembles my daughter’s, Huo Xingzhou probably sees you as a substitute. He and Xingluo grew up together, sharing a deep bond.”

Qiao Xi was unfazed by her words; she had heard them so much that they had become noise.

Everyone said Huo Xingzhou couldn’t let go of Xu Xingluo, but she had eyes to see where that man’s heart truly was.

Qiao Xi smiled lightly, “If you’re here to sow discord between my husband and me, you might as well leave. I won’t divorce him, so don’t bother.”

Liu Huimin seemed to have anticipated her response.

“Do you love Huo Xingzhou?” she asked. “If you love him, you will definitely divorce him.”

Liu Huimin was confident.

Qiao Xi glanced at her, “What you’re saying is contradictory. The more I love him, the less likely I am to part with him.”

Liu Huimin shook her head, confidently asserting, “You will. Besides, men value their careers most. Do you think Huo Xingzhou will choose between Tianyuan Group and you?”

Qiao Xi responded directly, “There’s no need for him to choose between me and Tianyuan Group. Career and marriage are not contradictory, your words are really strange.”

Liu Huimin disliked her impervious nature intensely.

Frowning, she stared at Qiao Xi and said, “Everything you have is given by Huo Xingzhou, you’re just a leech clinging to him. I heard you are trying to expand your fame through this clinic? Don’t worry, it won’t stay open for long.”

Liu Huimin, aware of the past agreement between Lu Bannong and Cheng Han, was ready to push Qiao Xi into a dead end, leaving her powerless to retaliate.

For a healer, patients are just waves that propel the boat forward.

She wouldn’t allow Qiao Xi to accumulate enough reputation.

“Are you threatening me?” Qiao Xi said coldly.

“Take it as you will.” Liu Huimin stood up and looked at her, “If you divorce Huo Xingzhou now, you can still keep your clinic and continue your acupuncture business, and the Xu Family won’t hold grudges. But if you delay, it won’t just be about divorce anymore, it’s uncertain whether you’ll keep your life.

When the time comes and Huo Xingzhou is widowed, it’s only natural for my Xingluo to marry him, and you’ll have no part in it.”

The hidden schemes and ruthlessness in her tone made Qiao Xi clench her lips.

Just because they are a powerful family, can they disregard ordinary people?

Qiao Xi sneered coldly, “Have you forgotten how you begged me like a dog in the hospital not to resign? Ungrateful scoundrel describes people like you precisely.”

Liu Huimin felt embarrassed and angry when Qiao Xi mentioned this, ignoring the unspoken pain in her heart.

She snorted coldly and said, “My second brother is being treated by many experts, and Dr. Yan is doing his acupuncture rehabilitation. I assume he will recover soon. Originally, the doctors all said his will to live is astonishing, a miracle. In fact, you just got lucky.”

Qiao Xi thought that Liu Huimin must be the hardest-mouthed person in the world.

“Qiao Xi, I advise you to divorce soon, lest you lose everything. Losing this clinic and the only family member you care about.”

Remembering Xu Xingluo’s desperate tears, Liu Huimin threatened sternly.

“I won’t divorce, please leave.” Qiao Xi’s apricot eyes were icy cold, “Don’t touch my grandma, or I will go to any length to tear off a piece of flesh from you.”

Knock knock.

The door was knocked twice, and Xu Yunye, with his arm wrapped in gauze, looked at them lazily: “Sorry to disturb you two. Doctor Qiao, it’s already half-past eight, work time, and Jiang Yue said I’m the first one for acupuncture today.”

Liu Huimin looked at him in surprise: “Yunye, why are you here? Shouldn’t you be at Hai City Hospital?”

Xu Yunye looked down, chuckling sarcastically and said, “Oh, you didn’t know I was discharged. I thought you came here to ask Doctor Qiao about my condition. I didn’t expect it was for Xu Xingluo’s forced marriage.”

“Yunye, you… you come back with me!”

Liu Huimin was slightly embarrassed and scolded.

“I still need treatment.” Xu Yunye argued stubbornly.

“She won’t treat you properly! Our Xu Family has already offended her, be obedient and come home with me.” Liu Huimin spoke earnestly and pleadingly.

Xu Yunye smiled, “No. I’ll stay here as Doctor Qiao’s hostage, to guard your last line of morality, and see if you would give me up for Xu Xingluo.”

His tone was light, yet it hid his hurt.

Liu Huimin looked at him disappointedly and said, “Yunye, Xingluo is your younger sister. Why must you keep opposing her.”

Xu Yunye stayed silent, leaning against the door.

Liu Huimin clenched her teeth, angrily taking her handbag and turned to leave.

Qiao Xi watched the mother and son arguing, her eyes sparkling, she walked up to him and said, “My acupuncture technique is good enough to cripple you without anyone noticing anything unusual. Are you sure you want the treatment?”

Xu Yunye looked at her, his expression relaxed and smile blossoming.

“Ah, my legs are numb!” He couldn’t control his body and fell straight toward Qiao Xi, crashing into her embrace.

Qiao Xi gritted her teeth and pushed him away, but unexpectedly, he was quite heavy.

Xu Yunye collapsed into her arms and said, “I’ve always felt we should have met a long time ago. Doctor Qiao, how about I recognize you as my sister?”

As the words left his mouth, he was even stunned himself.
