Chapter 149: Surface, finally.
Inside the chamber heated by the fountain's magic, the silence between Kael and Erika was thick, cut only by the soft sound of the water flowing and the accelerated beats of the hearts facing each other.
Kael stood still for a moment, staring at Erika as if trying to confirm that it was all real - that it wasn't a spell, a delusion or just another trap of fate. But no... it was her. Fully aware, naked, provocative and... sincere.
He took a deep breath, and his voice came out huskier than he expected.
"Do you really want this?" he asked. "I... I'm not like the others."
Erika arched an eyebrow, the crooked smile not gone, but softened. "Do you think I didn't realize that from the start? From that first day in class... with that wolf in sheep's clothing look?" She leaned forward slightly, her hair sticking to her damp lap. "Kael... I'm not a frightened maiden. If I wanted to run away, you wouldn't even have seen me enter this water."
He walked to the edge of the fountain, his eyes finally lowering, scanning her entire body - now with the permission of someone who doesn't hide, but defies.
Erika moved to the side and held out her hand.
"Come on. You're exhausted, injured... and I'm a teacher who cares about your student, remember?" She smiled. "I can take care of you... in my own way."
Kael hesitated for just a second.
Kael stood still for a moment, his gaze firmly on Erika. She was so close, her aura almost palpable. She offered everything - a simple invitation, but one charged with a fierce intensity that challenged him to go beyond his own limits.
He took a deep breath, feeling the pressure in his chest. But something stopped him from giving in. Something deep inside him told him he wasn't ready. Not at that moment. Not like this.
"I can't... I can't," he muttered in a hoarse voice. "Not like this. Not while I'm not... enough." His eyes locked onto hers, searching for something he couldn't express in words.
Erika watched him in silence, the smile now fading to a faint trace of understanding. She could have said something, she could have moved even closer, but she just waited.
Kael took a step back, feeling the warmth of the water against his skin, and once again, confused thoughts and suppressed feelings choked him. There was so much more inside him, much more than he would have liked to admit, and it was all about to explode. But not there, not now.
And then, as if his own body no longer obeyed him, he stepped forward again, as impulsively as a desperate man.
He kissed her.
The touch of his lips was almost urgent, a sudden explosion of desire and frustration. It wasn't a soft kiss, nor a tender one, but one charged with a repressed tension that he no longer knew how to contain. The taste of her skin, the warmth of the water, the force of the closeness - it all blended together. He wanted more, but he knew he couldn't.
She didn't pull back. On the contrary, her lips responded with the same intensity, as if she knew, more than he did, what that kiss represented.
Kael pulled away slowly, his eyes still locked on hers, his breathing rapid. The only thing he managed to say was a low sigh. "Wait a few years... when I don't have the body of a developing child."
Erika smiled softly, unhurriedly. "I understand," she said calmly. "Take your time. When you're ready... it'll be in your own time." She smiled before turning away...
and saw that he had entered the fountain without even realizing it and now his clothes were wet. "Wow... how complicated," she said smiling, "now we're soaked." She said.
Kael looked and realized what he had done. 'Holy shit...'
"Ara... looks like someone's trying to get hard but their body isn't developed enough, hahaha" Umbra laughed as she hovered in the air in her wyvern form
"Wet pussy smell." Ahri appeared sitting next to a rock, she too, like Umbra was invisible in her fox form.
Kael looked at the two spirits and let out a whisper...
Erika stood up from the edge of the fountain, the water dripping down her skin as she quickly grabbed her clothes. She wasn't hurrying, but there was something about the way she moved that conveyed a controlled calm. The fabric was still damp, but she put on her shirt and pants as easily as she could have done anywhere else. She didn't mind the dampness; her confidence never wavered, and she knew that Kael was there, watching her every move with renewed attention.
Kael, for his part, remained silent, trying to ignore the uncomfortable feeling that still hung over his body. What had happened between them wasn't easy to process, but he knew he had to move on. The mission was not yet complete. The secret passage behind him awaited them, and the future demanded that they remain focused.
Erika finished putting on her clothes and approached Kael, taking one last look at the mana source before turning to him. She was still wearing that enigmatic smile, a reflection of what had happened between them.
"Ready to move on, Kael?" she asked, her voice calm and with a lightness that contrasted with the tension of the moment before.
Kael took a deep breath, trying to clear away the tumultuous thoughts, and looked down the passage. The stone gears that had once moved, opening up a dark path, were now still, as if awaiting his decision. The darkness ahead looked inviting, almost familiar, and he knew that the only way out was to cross it.
"Yes," Kael replied firmly. "Let's go."
They walked side by side, the magical lights on the walls softly illuminating the path as the passage led them into a narrow tunnel. The sound of their footsteps echoed softly around them, and the air grew thicker as they advanced, as if the cave itself were alive, reacting to their presence.
As they walked along the path, the tension between them began to ease, but Kael still couldn't completely shake off the impact of what had happened. But he couldn't allow himself to hesitate.
Kael and Erika walked in silence down the narrow passage, each step echoing softly against the stone walls that seemed to swallow up the sound. The atmosphere around them was charged with the ancient energy that permeated the place, and despite his determination, Kael couldn't completely dispel the tumultuous thoughts that invaded his mind. He still felt the weight of those unspoken words, the feelings that were intertwined but unresolved.
Erika, on the other hand, was calm, her presence always secure and controlled. She noticed Kael's hesitations, but didn't press. She knew that, with him, everything had its own time and rhythm.
Suddenly, as they continued, the narrow tunnel widened, and a gentle current of fresh air blew towards them. The darkness ahead seemed to open up, revealing a spiral stone staircase that rose vertically. The stairs looked old, worn by time, but still solid, as if they were there waiting for them.
Kael paused for a moment, his eyes fixed on the stairs that stretched out in front of him, like a path to an unknown destination. There was something unsettling about the staircase, as if it were more than just a passageway. The energy around it seemed dense, and he felt a slight pressure in his head, as if something were watching him from afar.
"It seems that this is the only way," said Kael, breaking the silence, his voice still low but firmer. He approached the base of the stairs, carefully analyzing each step.
Erika didn't answer immediately, but gave Kael a careful look. She knew that, once again, they were entering something unknown. And this time, she wasn't sure what awaited them up there. But whatever it was, she knew Kael couldn't help but move on.
"Let's go," she said, her voice soft, but with a determination that encouraged him to continue. "There's no turning back now."
Kael nodded, and the two began to climb the stairs. Each step echoed in a peculiar way, reverberating in a way that seemed stronger as they climbed, as if the place itself was reacting to their presence.
As they climbed, the sound of their footsteps echoed around them, but the pressure they felt in the room only increased as they climbed. The air was cooler now, an almost icy breeze cutting across their faces, but the tension around them was palpable. Whatever was waiting for them at the top of the stairs, Kael sensed that it wasn't going to be easy. He felt as if he was being drawn by something, an invisible magnetism that was pulling him towards the unknown.
Finally, when they reached the top, they came up against a solid wall blocking their way. Kael stopped, his eyes fixed on the rocky surface before him. He felt a slight vibration, a sense of something hidden behind it. He approached the wall and tapped it a few times with his fingers, the sound echoing faintly, as if he were tapping on something hollow.
"There's something here..." murmured Kael, his eyebrows furrowed as he examined the wall more closely. He stepped back, making room for Erika. "Try using your sword. If it's what I think it is, it could be a hidden passage."
Erika looked at him for a moment, an expression of understanding on her face. She drew her sword with an agile movement and, with precision, made a horizontal cut in the wall. The sound of the blade cutting the stone echoed through the tunnel, and soon, a large section of the wall fell away, revealing an empty space behind it.
Before they could understand what was happening, a high-pitched, unmistakable sound of voices came from inside the room behind the wall. Mages, apparently in some kind of meeting or vigil, screamed in shock as they saw the wall being destroyed. Their astonished gazes turned to Kael and Erika, who were now facing them, without a hint of hesitation.
"Who's there? What are you doing here?" One of the mages shouted, but before he could move, Kael raised his hand in an almost imperceptible gesture, his presence like a wave of dark energy enveloping the room.
"Wait," Erika appeared from the shadows of the hole, "it's us."
"S-S-Sword King Erika!" One of the mages shouted loud enough to attract the attention of everyone else...
What do you think?
