Chapter 1099: Chapter 1099: Before Star God Palace Became Star God Palace
“It’s you competing with us, not your ancestors competing with us. Without the status of the Star Constellation Master, how could you consider it a win? Don’t you agree?” Lin Shen said.
“Fair enough.” Yan Li tossed the Star Constellation Token in her hand to Lin Shen and said calmly, “Why don’t you take a look at whose name is on this token.”
Lin Shen caught the token and looked at its back. The name of the bearer was inscribed there—an undeniable proof of the Master’s identity.
“Yan… Li…” Lin Shen frowned slightly.
If this Star Constellation Token was real, it could only mean that Yan Li herself was an ancient being who had lived for countless ages. Otherwise, when Lin Shen previously held office, he had never seen her name, nor had he ever encountered a former Pavilion Master with the surname Yan.
Lin Shen examined the token closely but couldn’t tell if it was fake. No matter how he scrutinized it, it was identical to his own token.
This object should be nearly impossible to counterfeit—firstly, because very few had ever seen it, and secondly, because the Star Constellation Token was the key to unlock the Star Constellation Sea. If it could be fabricated at will, wouldn’t that mean anyone could communicate with the Jade Emperor?
“I’ve never heard of a Great Divine Official or Star Constellation Master with the surname Yan from the Central Heaven Star Divine Palace.” Lin Shen mused aloud.
“It’s normal that you’ve never heard of it. Even if you were to comb through all the archives of the Star God Palace, you still wouldn’t find a Great Divine Official or Star Constellation Master with the surname Yan,” Yan Li said coldly. “Because the surname Yan has long been erased by the Jade Emperor from the history of the Central Heaven Star Divine Palace, naturally ensuring that no one would ever see the part of history that belonged to our Yan Family.”
“What you’re saying sounds far-fetched. Why would the Jade Emperor erase your Yan Family’s history?” Lin Shen asked skeptically.
“Because our Yan Family uncovered the truth of the Celestial Court, the true face of the Jade Emperor,” Yan Li enunciated with precision.
Lin Shen and the other two exchanged glances, their expressions perplexed. Lin Shen looked at Yan Li with an odd gaze and asked, “You’re making even wilder claims. You said you discovered the truth about the Celestial Court and the Jade Emperor—so, what’s the truth?”
“Are you sure you want to hear it? Once you know this truth, you might find that there’s no turning back, and you could end up walking the same path as my Yan Family, erased entirely from the Celestial Court,” Yan Li said with a playful but ominous smirk.
“Don’t try to scare us. If you can’t give a reasonable explanation, then this round doesn’t count as a win for you. Or, carry the Star Constellation Token with me to the Star Constellation Hall and verify its authenticity there,” Lin Shen said.
“Since you want to hear it, then it won’t hurt for me to share it.” Yan Li said with nonchalance: “In ancient times, the Yan Family wasn’t called Yan, and the Star God Palace wasn’t known as the Star God Palace.”
Lin Shen and the others found this peculiar. If the Yan Family wasn’t surnamed Yan, then what was their surname? If the Star God Palace wasn’t called the Star God Palace, then what was it called?
Yan Li continued, “The Yan Family’s original surname was Yan, as in King Yan. When our family served the Jade Emperor, the Star God Palace wasn’t called the Star God Palace; it was called the Underworld.”
“Are you sure about what you’re saying?” Lin Shen felt Yan Li’s words were becoming increasingly outrageous.
He had studied the history of the Celestial Court in detail, and the Star God Palace had been known by this name since its inception. How could it have ever been called the Underworld?
The Underworld was a mythical place for the souls of the dead. Considering the Star God Palace was part of the Celestial Court’s administration, it was inconceivable that it could have been named such.
“It’s understandable that you wouldn’t believe me. This is indeed difficult to accept,” Yan Li said flatly. “When the Star God Palace was known as the Underworld, its function wasn’t limited to merely maintaining the order of the Celestial Court. In fact, that was its least important role. Its greatest role lay in governing life itself.”
“The present-day Star God Palace also governs life and death,” Lin Shen interjected.
“The life I’m referring to is the creation and birth of life, not just the dichotomy of life and death,” Yan Li replied coldly. “Back then, the Star God Palace was a place for creating life—a factory, so to speak, for manufacturing Deformed Species. The Deformed Species across the Celestial Court and the universe were all produced by the Star God Palace.”
This claim left Lin Shen and the others feeling disbelief. The information was too shocking.
“Are you saying the Deformed Species were created by the Celestial Court? Why would the Celestial Court do this? What benefit does manufacturing Deformed Species bring to them? Is it merely for the resources obtained from these beings?” Lin Shen pondered aloud.
“If that’s what you think, then you’re being far too naive.” Yan Li began to elaborate. “In the most ancient era, humans broke the shackles of heaven and earth and entered the Celestial Court. Back then, the Celestial Court was home solely to humans—no Deformed Species, no other creatures, and not even any habitable planets.”
“Now you’re making truly alarming assertions. If the Celestial Court is so vast, how could it not have a single habitable planet? If that were the case, then where did the habitable planets come from? Surely they didn’t appear out of nowhere or get relocated from other star systems,” Lin Shen said, finding it harder and harder to believe Yan Li’s words.
“You think the Celestial Court is vast, don’t you? If I told you that the Celestial Court is merely a corner of the cosmos, and the space beyond it constitutes the true universe, would you believe me?” Yan Li said with disdain. “The so-called Celestial Court is neither the center of the cosmos nor its main body. It’s just a small corner artificially demarcated. The ancient realm zones are the true cosmos—they are humanity’s real homeland.”
Lin Shen realized that knowledge itself was a recurring cycle. Back when he was in the ancient realm zones, he had painstakingly learned that the Celestial Court was the core of the cosmos. Now, here at the Celestial Court, Yan Li was telling him the opposite—that the ancient realm zones were the core of the cosmos. It felt like an endless loop.
“Let’s not stray too far. Can we focus back on the Star God Palace?” Lin Shen said.
“We’re not straying—it’s all connected,” Yan Li continued. “The ancient humans stormed into the Celestial Court, thinking they had transcended the Three Realms and existed beyond the Five Elements. They fancied themselves superior beings—’Divine Beings,’ as they called themselves. In reality, they were nothing but delusional fools—mere experimental subjects confined like livestock.”
Yan Li’s claims became increasingly audacious. Lin Shen and the others stayed silent, waiting to hear what other shocking statements she would make.
“The Celestial Court used those so-called Divine Beings to research and manufacture Deformed Species, aiming to replace them entirely with mass-producible creations,” Yan Li said.
“Why would they try to replace Divine Beings with Deformed Species?” Lin Shen couldn’t help but ask.
“Because the Great Emperor isn’t human,” Yan Li’s words sounded like an insult.
What do you think?
