Suddenly, I Became Crazy Handsome, and the World Became Easy

Chapter 2: Hideous (2)

Overnight, Kang Rojun transformed from a hideous monster into someone for whom even the term super handsome felt inadequate. His face now appeared on the main screen of the AI Simulation app on his phone.

A character version of Kang Rojun.

Rojun was bewildered by the app’s completely different appearance compared to yesterday. Given that his brain was already malfunctioning, this only made things worse. On his phone screen, a background depicting a modest one-room apartment was visible, with his character standing in the center and several buttons arranged around it.

As expected, the Kang Rojun character…

“It looks exactly the same.”

It had the same face as his transformed one. The customized face had been applied both in reality and to the character. As Rojun stared down at his character for a moment, his gaze shifted.

-Swish.

He checked the buttons surrounding the character. The buttons had words inscribed on them.

“What is this? Is this really a life simulation? Some kind of game?”

If it were just the app, he might have been able to ignore it somehow. But his real face had changed to match what he had created, making this undeniably insane. Rojun tousled his hair with both hands. His thick black hair swayed smoothly.

“Having thick hair… Feels fucking amazing.”

If he still had his hideous face, his tone would have sounded eerie. But now, it was distinctly different. Without realizing it, Rojun chuckled and stepped into the bathroom again to look at his face.

A face that had transcended the human realm, belonging to the celestial world.

Kang Rojun murmured softly,

“I’m fucking handsome.”

Gradually, his laughter deepened. The situation was absurd. It made no sense. But so what? Who cares? He wasn’t that hideous monster anymore. In an instant, exhilaration, joy, and similar emotions surged within Kang Rojun, igniting a long-extinguished hope and passion.

'I feel like I can do anything. Really anything.'

Rojun quickly raised the phone in his hand and stepped out of the bathroom, sitting cross-legged on the floor.

“First, let’s figure out what this thing is.”

He needed to understand the AI Simulation app.

A moment later.

Rojun was sitting, but his character on the phone was standing.

Above the character’s head, the following text appeared:

-[User: Kang Rojun / Age: 24 / Height: 182.8 cm / Desired Occupation: Idol / Coins: 0]

Rojun narrowed his eyes slightly.

“These are the things I saw yesterday… But what’s this coin thing?”

Coin out of nowhere? There was no way to know right now. Rojun’s eyes moved again. This time, they landed on the two buttons listed on the left side of the character.

-[Status] / [Enhance]

Between the two, Rojun chose to tap the Status button first. The app screen changed immediately.

-[User Kang Rojun’s Status]

[Appearance (100/100) │ Singing Ability (2.3/100) │ Rap (1.5/100)]

[Dance (0/100) │ Eloquence (5.7/100) │ Acting (0/100) │ Lyrics Writing (0/100)]

[Composition (0/100) │ Arrangement (0/100)]

There were a lot of stats. What did all this mean?

“So… This basically shows my current stats?”

Like the status screen in a game. Since he had listed his desired occupation as an idol, it seemed to have generated relevant stats. From appearance to musical skills, everything was displayed. The most striking part was his maxed-out Appearance stat. But, of course, the rest of his stats were pathetic. Some were even at zero. It made perfect sense.

'Of course, fuck- when have I ever tried singing or dancing or anything like that in my life.?'

He returned to the main screen. This time, Rojun tapped the Enhance button next to Status. A flood of messages appeared in the center of the screen.

-[Not enough coins to enhance.]

-[Welcome to AI Simulation! As a gift, you have been awarded 50 coins.]

-[Enjoy your AI Simulation experience.]

The messages vanished, and immediately, a change appeared.

-[Coins: 50]

His coins, which had been at zero, were now 50.

“Oh-”

Before he knew it, Kang Rojun was completely absorbed in the AI Simulation app. He pressed the Enhance button once again. Since he now had coins, the screen changed properly this time. The same status stats appeared as before, but there was one difference.

-[……Singing Ability (2.3/100)↑ │ Rap (1.5/100)↑]

An upward arrow at the end.

For someone with gaming experience like Kang Rojun, this was a familiar sight. Without hesitation, he tapped Singing Ability. A message popped up in the center of the screen, something along the lines of 'Would you like to use 1 coin to enhance Singing Ability?' When he pressed Confirm, the change was applied immediately.

-[Singing Ability (2.4/100)↑]

From 2.3 to 2.4, meaning that 1 coin increased the stat by 0.1. That meant 10 coins would increase it by 1, and 100 coins by 10. Was that reasonable? No, it seemed like barely anything. Muttering to himself, Rojun moved past the numbers and considered something else.

“But… If I enhance my stats, do they actually apply to me in real life?”

Since his face had changed, his stats should apply too, right? Kang Rojun cleared his throat briefly and started singing a random song, a famous rock ballad from over a decade ago, one that his late parents had loved.

-♬♪

It was complete garbage. He was tone-deaf. Rojun tilted his head slightly, as if this was a familiar reality. He already knew he was tone-deaf.

“Seems the same. Well, yeah, it’d be weird if a 0.1 increase changed anything.”

He brushed it off and returned to the main screen. This time, he checked the two buttons on the right side of the character.

-[Missions (Only 5 per day)] / [Shop (Deactivated)]

The Shop button couldn’t be pressed. Deactivated? That meant it would probably open later. That left only the Missions button. As soon as he pressed it, a flood of missions filled the screen.

-[Mission attempts available: 0/5]

-[Get 3 people (male or female) to ask for your number (1 coin) │ Ask 3 people (male or female) for their number (1 coin) │ Get told you’re handsome at least 3 times (1 coin) │ Do 30 push-ups (1 coin) │ Do 30 sit-ups (1 coin)……]

Even after scrolling, the list of missions seemed endless. Were they unlimited? Most gave 1 coin, but some offered 5 or even 10 coins.

“So, I just have to complete these to earn coins?”

Curious, Kang Rojun immediately dropped to the floor and started doing push-ups. He had chosen the Do 30 push-ups mission. He exercised regularly anyway, and thanks to his labor-hardened muscles, this was effortless.

He finished in no time.

A message immediately appeared on his phone.

-[Mission ‘Do 30 push-ups’ completed! 1 coin awarded!]

As expected, his 49 coins returned to 50. And on top of that.

-[Mission attempts available: 1/5]

-[Do 31 push-ups (1 coin)]

The available mission count had increased by 1, and the 30 push-ups mission had changed to 31 push-ups. Now understanding how the system worked, Kang Rojun muttered.

"So, missions are only possible 5 times a day?"

He returned to the main screen where his character stood. Now, there was only one button left. The largest button at the bottom of the screen.

-[AI Automation]

The text was bold and large, making it seem the most important. As soon as he pressed it, a message appeared.

-[Through ‘AI Automation’ analysis, the desired outcome can be achieved. What would you like to achieve? (Only options related to the desired occupation: Idol)]

-[Example: I want to learn a song perfectly.]

‘AI Automation’ analysis? Desired outcome?

Studying the example provided by the app, Kang Rojun stroked his chin.

“I have no idea what this means, but… let’s try the song I just sang.”

He quickly typed the title of the song he had just butchered due to his extreme tone-deafness into the empty field.

-[AI Automation: I want to learn the song ‘Farewell’ perfectly.]

After pressing Confirm, a loading circle spun briefly. Then, a response appeared.

-[AI Analysis in progress…… Analysis complete!]

-[To achieve the desired result, 30 coins are required.]

-[※ The number of coins required varies depending on the difficulty of the desired outcome.]

Of course, it wasn’t free. It required 30 coins.

“Hmm- so, depending on how easy or difficult my request is, the price changes?”

Understanding how it worked, Kang Rojun pressed Confirm to use the coins. Immediately, the message changed.

-[Using 30 coins.]

-[Applying…… Application complete!]

At the same time.

“Ugh!”

Rojun flinched. The reason was simple- his wrist, where he wore his smartwatch, tingled sharply. It was a familiar sensation. He waited for a moment, but after that initial jolt, nothing else happened.

Is that it?

Puzzled, Rojun wondered what had just happened. But instead of dwelling on it, he cleared his throat. He was about to sing the song Farewell again, the one he had chosen to learn. He felt a little nervous. The only sensation was a brief prick, could this really change anything?

The moment tone-deaf Kang Rojun slowly opened his mouth to sing, he sensed the difference.

Huh?

The lyrics, once faint and unclear, were now vividly imprinted in his memory.

-♬♪

His previously garbage-level singing ability was now good enough that no one would question him being a professional singer. He barely got through the first line before his eyes widened in shock.

'This actually works.'

After composing himself, Rojun resumed the song. His naturally deep voice carried through, distinct and one of a kind, with a slight rasp at the end of each note. What had once been an eerie tone was now his greatest strength. His pitch was on par with professional singers, and his emotional expression and control over tempo were flawless.

By the time he had sung up to the first chorus.

“……”

Something crossed his mind. Instead of continuing with Farewell, he switched to a different song.

-♬♪

This time, it was trash.

Rojun immediately stopped singing and let out a short laugh.

“Yeah, this is more like it.”

Compared to Farewell, where he had sounded like a seasoned singer, this time he was back to being completely tone-deaf. Even after testing Farewell multiple times, he maintained the same high-level performance. There was only one conclusion.

'I really only learned Farewell.'

In other words, the AI Automation button was essentially a pay-to-win feature, like in games. He could gradually enhance his stats over time, or he could gather a lot of coins and learn things instantly. Either way, whether slowly or quickly, the result was the same, he would become overpowered.

A grin of intrigue spread across Kang Rojun’s face.

“This is fucking amazing.”

He had more or less figured out the AI Simulation app’s main features. It wasn’t as complicated as he had initially thought.

“For now, I have to complete 5 missions a day. I don’t know if there are other ways to earn coins, but for now, missions are the only method.”

From what he had seen, AI Automation was the most expensive feature. If he wanted to use the app freely, stockpiling coins was essential.

“The 5-coin and 10-coin missions seem a bit difficult to clear right away. So I’ll focus on the 1-coin ones. Five missions a day means 5 coins.”

That added up to roughly 150 coins in a month.

Who knew what other events might be hidden in AI Simulation? It wasn’t something he could calculate right now. Maybe he’d come across another welcome gift like before.

Soon, Rojun adjusted his posture. It was time to start clearing missions.

-[Do 30 sit-ups (1 coin)]

He completed it quickly. A familiar message popped up, and 1 coin was added to his balance.

“Next, let’s see… something easy, sing 3 songs, dance for 5 minutes.”

He had already sung three songs. Did songs learned through AI Automation not count? Tilting his head in confusion, Rojun sang the national anthem three times. Thankfully, the mission was completed.

Next was the 5-minute dance mission.

Rojun began to flail around in an impromptu dance, completely losing himself in the moment. Fortunately, the mission counted it, and the coin was rewarded. His balance was now at 23 coins.

Now, there was only one mission left.

And it was the one that had caught his attention the most.

-[Get 3 people (male or female) to ask for your number (1 coin)]

Getting someone to ask for his number.

Wouldn’t that be easy with his super handsome face now?

Besides, he also wanted to step outside and experience the world with this face. On the inside, he was still the same, but on the outside, he no longer looked eerie or unsettling. How would people see him now? How would they react? And more importantly. How would Kang Rojun’s life, which had once been hell mode, start to change?

With his mind made up, Kang Rojun immediately washed up. The only thing he applied to his face was lotion. He half-heartedly dried his thick hair.

'Clothes? Let's just wear anything. Don't have many clothes anyway.'

He decided on a simple outfit, just a plain white t-shirt, jeans, and his usual sneakers. His eyes landed on the black cap and mask he always wore when going out.

'...I don't need these anymore.'

How many years had it been since he left the house without a hat or mask?

After putting on his shoes, Kang Rojun took a short breath before opening the front door. His emotions were a mix of nervousness and anticipation. Then, without hesitation, he stepped outside.

-Swish.

With a confident yet powerful stride, Kang Rojun began walking. But his steps kept getting tangled, it felt awkward.

-Tap, tap.

He had no destination in mind. He just walked.

Every time the warm sunlight touched his face, chills ran down his spine. That was when he spotted them, two young women approaching from the direction of a convenience store, laughing together. They looked to be in their early twenties.

“……”

Rojun’s expression twisted in a mess of emotions.

And then.

“No, but when I told him that, he- huh?”

One of the women, who had been chatting, suddenly stopped. Her friend also froze. Their eyes both widened in an instant as Kang Rojun brushed past them. Naturally, their gazes followed him.

“Did you see that? That face is insane.”

“Su-super handsome. No, super super super handsome.”

“Wow, hey, I need you to call him over for me.”

One of the women suddenly sprinted toward Kang Rojun. Her friend called after her.

“Jungmi!!”

The woman skidded to a halt and turned her head sharply.

“Huh???”

She quickly looked at Kang Rojun’s face again. Rojun stared back at her. Their eyes met.

Maintaining a calm expression on the outside, Kang Rojun was internally in complete turmoil. He had no experience with this at all, what was he supposed to say if she asked for his number?

'When asked for my number, what should I say? Thank you? That sounds too casual. Maybe ‘Here you go’? No, that’s too polite. Should I just say ‘Give me your phone’ all cool and indifferent?'

But the woman just stood there, frozen.

“……”

She couldn’t do anything except stare, completely mesmerized by Kang Rojun’s face. After a brief moment, Rojun looked at her for a second longer, then walked past her and continued on his way. Her friend rushed over and shook her by the arm.

“Hey, hey! What’s wrong with you? You saw his face, right?”

“…Yeah. No- I mean, wow, he was so insanely, insanely handsome that I just froze up.”

“I get it. When you see someone celestial level handsome, it’s actually hard to approach them. It’s like seeing a deity or something.”

“Agreed. That was exactly me just now. The moment I saw him, I forgot how to breathe.”

…This mission might actually be harder than he thought.

But completely unaware of this, Kang Rojun was already moving on.

“Hmm- where should I go? I need a place with lots of people. Gangnam? Seongsu? Hongdae? Maybe I should head to Gangnam first.”

With that, he set his first destination- Gangnam Station.
